All of a sudden Arsenal really need Chelsea to WIN

For the last few months Arsenal fans have been desperately hoping that Chelsea would falter and the seemingly unstoppable momentum that Antonio Conte’s team had would fade away and give the Gunners a chance to get back into the Premier League title race.

Once we lost our game at Stamford Bridge, though, any slim hopes that Arsenal fans were holding on to were gone and so it really did not matter what Chelsea did. Until now that is. Now that the Blues have finally faltered and suffered a shock defeat at home to relegation threatened Crystal Palace, Arsenal are in no position to take advantage but the team that could challenge them for the title is our north London rivals Tottenham.

As if this season was not bad enough for Arsenal already, it would be so much more painful if our worst finish in 20 years coincided with the Spuds being crowned EPL champions. That is one very good reason for us Gooners to want Chelsea to get back to winning ways but we also have another, because this week sees the league leaders take on Man City and if Arsenal are to somehow achieve another top four finish it is City and Man United that we need to get past.

An Arsenal win over West Ham would give us 54 points and if City lose they would be on 58 having played one more game. We clearly need to find some form but the top four race is far from over and Chelsea could do Arsenal a big favour this week.

    1. Maximum number a league can have in UCL is 4 no matter what. Fourth place counts only (for Arsenal) only if they are finishing 1st,2nd or 3rd. I believe the rule for sending the EL winner directly in group stage is under scrutiny at the moment.

  1. Top 3 only then I believe that is if mu finish say 5th or 6th.
If Leicester win the cl and mu Europe, top 2 only? 🙂
On the subject of just arsenal can’t we have a lot more off topics for now? And maybe even pick another club to talk about whilst Wenger is dithering. Say just crystal palace? Lol
Frankly this year I want us to come 7th as I believe that is the only way wenger will leave.
New manager and no EL or CL distractions to allow him more time to rebuild and experiment with a new sqaud, formations etc.
I didn’t become an arsenal fan to stress and lose sleep that we may not get in the top 4 meaning wed lose our best players. That’s not arsenal that we remeber expect or deserve, that’s surviving not thriving

    1. I also see no point in playing in the champions league just to be destroyed 10-2 by Bayern or Barcelona at the last 16 stage.. Let’s have a go at the league without any champions league commitments and see where we will finish.

  2. What’s new about that. It has been the norm since 2006. This time around Mr. Arsene will lose his trophy… Sipping my midnight cap. ☕☕♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪
