Offical Arsenal team and preview for Chelsea away

Well here we go Arsenal fans. This away game at Chelsea is massive for the Gunners. Win it and we have banished the Chelsea blues once and for all and will be right up there fighting for the Premier League title. Lose it and the old Mourinho hoodoo will be back and our start to the season will be looking seriously downbeat again.

As expected, Arsene Wenger has brought back the players rested for the Champions League game in midweek and so Arsenal will start at Stamford Bridge with the same 11 players that won our last Premier League game against Stoke City.

There is no Per Mertesacker, even on the bench, so Gabrieal and Koscielny continue their new central defensive pairing and they could have their hands full, as Pedro has recovered to make the starting XI and Hazard will surely start to redicover his form sooner or later, while Costa is always difficult to play against.

Chelsea have their own problems in defence though and John Terry has been benched again, while the match up between the struggling Ivanovic and the brilliant Alexis Sanchez should be an interesting one. Hopefully the pace and movement of Walcott and the creative play of Arsenal will prove to be too much for the home team and hopefully their former keeper Petr Cech can keep another clean sheet for Arsenal.

Cech
Bellerin, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal
Coquelin, Cazorla
Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis
Walcott

Subs: Ospina, Debuchy, Gibbs, Chambers, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlin, Giroud.

Arsenal have a great chance to inflict more pain on Chelsea and Mourinho, but will we perform well and do it?

  1. So much pace and zero effectiveness in counter attacks. Well done Arsene. You will certainly win the PL in your lifetime.

    1. Sorry mate, today’s not a day to give us your Anti-Wenger tripe. Mourinho has publically disrespected our manager, Costa got our man sent off, so show a little support for once

      1. I am talking in general. The bigger picture. Time and again we fail with our counter attack styles against bif teams. Why is that ? Whats use our pace is ?

        1. Don’t talk in general today. This game is an aberration by all standards. Anybody using this game in their statistical analysis should be considered probabilistic jokers. This game is clearly an outlier.

        2. Understand how football works before writing tripe. Pace is negated quite a lot when teams defend deep like Chelsea are. I wouldn’t wish injury on any human being but I feel Diego Costa does not deserve to play football. I hope he gets his legs broken for good in one of these matches. How can a referee be so incredulous? Diego Costa does this week in and week out and still falls for it. Shocking refereeing.

            1. hell yes, it was a good match before the costa incident, played the even up, on the road, after a long flight in an early match, this is a day you fight the system, not your team

  2. I hope chelsea players get injured. I hope mike dean loses his job. I hope all the FA members with their beer bellies are disposed off in the Arctic ocean.

  3. Very predictable. Almost every team is beating Chelsea and Arsenal still make all hard work of it.

This reminds me when Man U were getting beat by all comers under Moyes and Arsenal still couldn’t take them.

Games like this keep happening, so it can’t be down to back luck, just bad preparation and or the wrong players.

        1. Murder and f**ckin death yes. what chelsea promotes is far from being called a game. I wouldnt give a rat’s ass if costa lost his limbs

      1. Dean is a dirty scumbag. Arsenal fans need to hound him out of the game. In 2009 stonewall penalty not given to Arsenal, yet Rooney falls and penalty to Man Utd. He is a cheat and needs to be exposed and pressure has to be put on the FA and whoever appoints such criminal referees. Should blood flow between Chelsea and Arsenal fans, it’s on Dean and the thug Costas hands.

    1. Because we have a force of gentlemen warriors. Instead of going down Ox preferres to stay on his feet. * applauds*

  4. @Demwan Jones: mind ur language as the police may take negatively to it. That is if u r living in the UK. Enough of this violent talk!

    1. No surprise to me whatsoever.
Its the Chelsea way. I am losing all interesting in this league with Chelsea being able to get away with everything

  5. I can’t blame Wenger and the team for this loss. I blame the FA and the referee. This game makes me think games can be bought. How do you explain such decision making? Chelsea is a terrible team and it’s very evident they need the help of the referee to win. Mike Dean is an Asshole.

  6. Thing is, we should’ve played full team on Wednesday, we would’ve won then. Dean has completely ruined the game. Now we’re all on tenterhooks about Coq because Wenger wouldn’t buy anyone.

    1. Because Kos and Ox are too gentlemen and honest to go to the ground and fight for the punishment. We are Arsenal. We should better play in a suit, nice
leather shoes, a top hat and stick in the hands. Classy. Dont you think ?

      1. Classic Arsenal soul. Always something to convince ourselves and make ourselvea feel better. Isnt’it ?

        1. To be honest, if you need to be like Diego Costa to win matches, I am not sure losing is the worst thing in the world. The FA and Premier League is a joke. No wonder, none of the English teams do well in Europe. It just has too much cash, too little of actual talent and football ethics.

I think Garath Cooks for once says a good thing “Every so often I think you need a referee in a situation who is sensible, and treats the players like men.

“If no-one had been sent off in that clash between Costa and Gabriel, no-one would have screamed.

“The only man who was interested in sending someone off was the official. Don’t look for excuses to send players off. Just do you job and try and keep it 11 v 11.

“Mike Dean is a really good referee but he has one fault – he wants to be the star too often. It’s not about you, Mike. People pay good money to see good football. It’s not about you behaving like a schoolteacher.”

  7. Wengers had a fantastic helm at Arsenal but still the same I’d either like too see Pep or Henry in charge next season.

    1. It was ridiculous, there was no way that you would’ve seen such bad refereeing, which completely determined the result of what could’ve been a good game, in any other match. Fair enough Kos could’ve been sent off, but if we weren’t down to 9 men then he wouldn’t be acting in such a way anyway.

  8. Wonder what the Smarmy One will say…he should hang his head in shame, but like all egomaniacs he will probably love the attention anything he spews out will have. Bad day for football, that snake Mourinho has brought the game low. At least Sir Alex Ferguson was a man, he won by playing football. Horrible

  9. Same old Arsenal, falling to bits,
Even though the ref is on Chelsea’s payroll,
    Our players should know better,
    Not to retaliate!

    F###ing joke’s! ???

      1. They didn’t retaliate apart from Gabriel. If it was a red card for Gabriel, it was sure as hell a red card for Costa. Bad defending for that Zouma goal but you can only do so much with 9 and 10 men. I don’t see Arsenal doing much in the league but that was clear when Wenger inexplicably decided not to buy a damn DM. Ok, you didn’t find a quality striker, I can believe that Mr Wenger, but how come is there no backup for Coquelin? Really poor management at Arsenal. Take one step forward. then shoot yourself in the foot by not completing the job. That being said, today’result is not Wenger’s fault. Not much you can do when the referee is so shockingly bad and the opposing team would rather slap people in faces and be diving and acting champions instead of playing football.

  10. once we had viera, sol campell, keown, petit now we have cazorla, walcot, ramsey, ozil they are too nice and zero aggression even the bottom table team will show more aggression at this situation

  11. No need for a post match review Admin. Its clear for those who used to doubt that refs decide matches. It should have been yellow to Gab and red to Costa in that Kos incident. Everything after that was academic. But for Chelsea to require a set piece and a deflected goal against 10 and later 9 men tells a story about their prospects in the league.

On a different note it was good that the ref gave a straight red therefore Arsenal has an opportunity to appeal so that Gab is back for the leisceter game.

  12. one thing is for sure,Chelsea will not win league or icl,and I wish they get City in the 4th round of FA and loose too,and in another cup I wanna crystal palace beating them, and Dean to be fined for today’s calls, and costa getting red next game, missing 5 games, getting red again, released, picked up by Bastia and retired on Corsica

  13. @fullmetalallc: i started supporting Arsenal in 1974 even probably you were born so quiet mate. Arsenal Wenger is definitely to blame for this debacle.

    1. Wenger is to blame for not buying a striker, DM overall, poor tactics and management. He is to blame if we do badly in the league. I would support the view that he be replaced if he can’t be the man to take the club to the next level.

But, he has no part in today’s loss. Even down to ten men, he did the sensible thing, tried to defend deep and play counter. His team selection was good. It isn’t his fault Mike Dean is so incredulous and bad.

From your comments, you just seem to be a Chelsea troll or too senile/dumb to actually see things objectively or intelligently.

  14. For once, am proud of the team after losing a game. For me, the team did really well even when we were 1man down and also 2men down. One thing am sad is this chicken head called Mike Dean. I think Sanchez needs a rest. Walcot is really improving, don’t stop playing him up front.

  15. FEEL SO SORRY FOR ARSENAL. ENGLAND, HOME TO AVERAGE REFEREES PLAYING TO THE GALLERY. HOME TO AVERAGE PLAYERS LIKE ROONEY N LAMPARD WHO THINK THEY ARE WORLD CLASS BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN OUTSTANDING IN ANY INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT, EVER. HOME TO THE OVER RATED PREMIER LEAGUE THAT HAS MANCITY, A MEGA RICH SORRY SIGHT OF A TEAM THAT IS CONSISTENTLY POOR IN EUROPE, AS ITS BEST TEAM. THE PREMIER LEAGUE STINKS RIGHT NOW!
