Official Arsenal team and preview for Lincoln as Wenger goes BIG

With the FA cup being the only chance left for Arsenal to end the current season with a trophy, Arsene Wenger is taking no chances despite the fact that the GunnersĀ“opponents at the Emirates stadium today are 88 places below us in the echelons of English football.

Whether the manager wants a trophy to sign off his ong reign with or whether he wants the FA cup to convince the fans he should stay is something only the Frenchman knows, but at least his strong team selection today should ensure that we get through this quarter-final to book our place at Wembley in the semis.

Cech
Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Gibbs
Ramsey, Xhaka, Oxlade-Chamberlain
Walcott, Sanchez, Giroud

Subs: Martinez, Gabriel, Monreal, Coquelin, Iwobi, Ozil, Lucas.

I like the look of this side, with Gibbs joining the full strength back four to give us a bit more attacking threat down the left, where we already have the Chilean star Alexis Sanchez. Ramsey and Xhaka in the middle offer attacking threat as well so the boss is clearly planning on a lot of goals or at least giving Arsenal the best possible chance of breaking down a stubborn defence.

The fact that he has gone for Cech over Ospina just highlights how important this game is. Now go ann win it well you Gunners!

Bob.

  1. I thought Xhaka, Ramsey and Ox looked surprisingly solid in the first half against Bayern so nice to see that combination getting another run. For the life of me though I can’t understand why Perez can’t get a run on.

  2. Ospina has a leg injury.
I was expecting a weaker team from Wenger but in saying that ?
Would we know the difference? ?

I would really love us to get beat today as this would give those Lincoln fans a once in a lifetime experience, as for us, we’re used to failure so no harm done there, as far as I’m concerned.
But looking at our team lineup, Anything less than a 5 nil whipping would be considered as an extra, extra, read all about it, embarrassment lol ?

  3. …………………Cech
    Bellerin..Mustafi..Koscielny..Gibbs
    ………………..Xhaka
    …………Ramsey..Oxlade
    Walcott……………………….Alexis
    …………………Giroud

Closer to the formation we should’ve used away to Bayern and Liverpool. I think Wenger really is fearing a bad result. He probably knows how that would be all she wrote.

  4. again no Perez?! Wtf is wrong with this man. Get the lamp post on the bench and start using Perez!

  5. No Lucas?
I would put Lucas on left and Alexis up front

But this is still a very strong team
Wenger has decided to take the FA Cup seriously

  6. Oh Arsenal, always making every team look like European giants…….I pity the fans at the Emirates

  7. Wow, Giroud is still the second best striker on the pitch and the other guy plays non league football

    1. Giroud wouldn’t get into the first team at Lincoln. Only Wenger thinks dude is a striker. Everyone else is more realistic

      1. I’d say for first team football, playing every week, I’d say he’s about Everton or Southampton quality. When they lose Lukaku, they’d have him easily. Southampton, he’s better than Long for sure.

  8. playing on the same level as a non-league side. And these are all starters today. Really shocking stuff. You’d think we were at least playing a relegation struggler in EPL. Despite the 1-0 scoreline everybody has been poor today besides for Walcott. Ramsey’ shooting is a crime.

  9. There’s clearly a hangover from the last game and we are low in confidence. Lincoln are disrupting our play pretty well too.

Add that to the pressure on the team and manager and I would expect a strained performance like this is so far.

It’s games like this that separate the men from the boys, and I don’t see too many men on the pitch..

Still expect us to win though, just not in style..

  10. If the match ends like this, is it pressure off or do you think we should add more pressure for change?

    1. This is what Bayern felt like when they played us, feels good. At least we got a goal ..lol.

  11. We’re winning bit to use one of wengers words, no cohesion or speed to our play. A little more one touch and move please.
Giroud less touches than Cech! Why the he’ll is lucas not playing.?
Theo scores, sanchez comes over and they all turn their back on him bar xhaka,;awkward!

  12. Only positive is that we scored but the display not so good. But its understandable considering recent results

  13. Lolz at Giroud completely messing that up on first chance and then because of the skill of others around him he actually gets a goal.

  14. What!!!!, Bellerin has no end product, but! but! but!, you’s better tell Barcelona that.

  15. I hope to see Gibbs leave one on your man Margetts. That’s what we need to be like, let teams no we won’t take that bollox.

  16. I’m starting to enjoy this game, does anyone have money on Perez scoring, what’s the odds?.
