Official Arsenal team and preview of Liverpool away

It was fairly easy to guess the Arsenal starting line up that would be facing Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side in the Premier League at Anfield tonight, with Arsene Wenger only having a couple of little decisions to make. There are no surprises really, as Giroud starts through the middle.

Ramsey, Flamini, Mertesacker and Monreal all return after a rest for the FA cup 3rd round victory over Sunderland and the ever improving Joel Campbell is preferred to Oxlade-Chamberlain on the other flank to Walcott. The main team news comes from the home side, with Liverpool being boosted by the return from injury of Toure and Sakho at the heart of their defence.

They also have Jordan Henderson in the centre and young Jordan Ibe back in one of the wide forward roles. Their attack looks a bit weak with Firmino leading the line and apart from Benteke their bench looks weak. Ours looks a lot stronger and that could make the difference although we hope that the starting XI will have enough quality to seal the win.

Cech
Bellerin, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal
Flamini, Ramsey
Campbell, Ozil, Walcott
Giroud

Subs: Macey, Gibbs, Gabriel, Chambers, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Iwobi

A win tonight would really have us dreaming of the EPL title, so can we do it? COYG

  1. Here we go..we gave the game away with the changes..WTF? you put all the pressure on us you idiotic coach..gibbs? arteta? are you kidding me? what will be the excuse?

    1. @vinie2000
He had to make the changes dude, Joel was on tired legs, Ozil was not there and neither was Theo.

    2. Please just honestly answer me. Assuming u were to defend for 15mins as we did in ds game…would u rather throw in gibbs instead of gabriel or chambers instead of arteta?

  2. i hate a one goal lead and do defensive substitutions, you loose pocession and spent 15″ trying to keep the ball out of the net, then if they score, you have no juice to get a win, terrible… arteta?

  3. Oh Well, We and leicester have 43 points now

We were just 3 mins away from maintaining a lead over Leicester and extending lead over City

    Really disappointed!!!

    1. Ramsey cannot be trusted with that midfield position in our current setup.
Maybe a 4-4-2 set up in which he plays as a decoy striker.
Gives the ball away far too much and cannot commit to a tackle. Arteta, Gibbs and flamini cannot even break up play, Stop their momentum and pick a yellow card.
Those things are what differentiate a champion league winner from an also ran.

  4. rArteta do flamini provide nothing. Meanwhile wenger is idshowings unambitious self.
The January transfer window and no urgency to sign a player to cover for our lack of power in the midfield

  5. Guys relax…calm the f down..we had to come back twice and playing at anfield. It was not an easy game. We would have settled for a draw before the match.

    1. Liverpool is a poor team.
Press them a Lil bit and see them make wayward passes.
The funny thing is that they were the ones pressing even( what we Should have been doing) though we had many defensive minded players on the field.
Those 2 points may determine whether we win the league or not.

  6. Not the result that bothers me so much as the lack of …. Wait for it …. Cohesion …. Walcott has to be dropped as soon as Sanchez is back …. Campbell is not top draw but he has improved and works his socks off … But real worry is with Ramsey arteta flamini combos they are just not good enough to control middle of park … Hopefully the Egyptian will add something

    1. Campbell is the second most technical player on that pitch after ozil.
      4 assist in 2 games.
Showing Ramsey the job as a midfielder. That is, getting the best out of his teammates
