Official Arsenal team and preview of Liverpool away

It was fairly easy to guess the Arsenal starting line up that would be facing Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side in the Premier League at Anfield tonight, with Arsene Wenger only having a couple of little decisions to make. There are no surprises really, as Giroud starts through the middle.

Ramsey, Flamini, Mertesacker and Monreal all return after a rest for the FA cup 3rd round victory over Sunderland and the ever improving Joel Campbell is preferred to Oxlade-Chamberlain on the other flank to Walcott. The main team news comes from the home side, with Liverpool being boosted by the return from injury of Toure and Sakho at the heart of their defence.

They also have Jordan Henderson in the centre and young Jordan Ibe back in one of the wide forward roles. Their attack looks a bit weak with Firmino leading the line and apart from Benteke their bench looks weak. Ours looks a lot stronger and that could make the difference although we hope that the starting XI will have enough quality to seal the win.

Cech
Bellerin, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal
Flamini, Ramsey
Campbell, Ozil, Walcott
Giroud

Subs: Macey, Gibbs, Gabriel, Chambers, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Iwobi

A win tonight would really have us dreaming of the EPL title, so can we do it? COYG

  1. Feels like it’s been a month without Ozil, not that the team missed him much, just want to see him on the field again

  2. I have a weird feeling about this game. No idea how it’ll go. Hoping it’ll be another entertaining game – another 6-3 win at Anfield would be nice.

  3. Things don’t look so easy now lol
That’s some magic wand in Klopp’s possession!
Unbelievable! … they almost have a fully fit squad.

No Debuchy on the bench. .. that’s him 100% off then.

Come on Arsenal, we need to win this,
    Make us proud!

    COYG’s!

    1. Lol I was thinking the same, injuries my a**. It is a full squad we’re playing. No messing around today.

  4. One Article down……..two more to go!

    * post match article
    * man of the match article

then we could all say goodnight!

  5. the only feeling i would want to have at the end of this Long day is the one of post match jubilation

anything short of that, then i’d be off to bed in drunken anger…

  6. Can’t complain
This is probably the best team we can put out there with our injuries
Thank God our defense and GK haven’t been hit hard by injuries other than coquelin

But we still have a strong enough team to win tonight
Ramsey is a fantastic back up to Cazorla
Now Walcott, Giroud and Campbell need to finish with precision when they receive King Ozil’s precision passes

I predict a win for us

  7. This is a game that I should be very confident about , yet I`m so nervous! Is it because of our position on the league table?

  8. This is a game that I should be very confident about , yet I`m so nervous! Is it because of our position on the league table??

    1. Because it’s the Arsenal! No matter how well we play, the last 20 minutes or so will be nail-biting as usual.

    1. Hahaha
Yes .. right up the backside ??

They have found a weakness. .. Shooting from distance!
I hope that we improve in the second half.

  9. we are clearly a better talented team, hope we over come the energy in the first 20′, really misding sanchez, pleze!! get better,

  10. They’re just not up to it. you can just tell, they aren’t pumped enough to go out and play like a team that wants it.

  11. were getting battered here.

actually lubricrated for king dong violation.

cant flamini activate his snipers or something.whats the point being a billionaire if u cant press the big red button

    1. Miss of the season??? Really??? The ball fell on the wrong side of his foot.there was nothing giroud could do. And giroud has already been involved in both goals.that miss was not a sitter…sorry pal

  12. i cant take this anymore.

    2-2

ive taken the als ice challenge 3 times in 30 minutes…this is too much

im actually eating plywood with a fork an one chopstick…

simon mignolet is now …..oh jeeze giroud how did u miss that.

    loooooool

someone get auboomerang on the line.

my head hurts.. my genitals have shrivelled…

    this is too much

  13. Our passing is horrendous. Instead of one touches, we are trying to make some kind of 360’s and eventually get muscled out. Pass the God damn ball! Liverpool is pressing like hell (oh what a surprise there) and we are holding on to the ball.

And where are our midfielders? Any Pool player can just walk undisturbed in the middle and take a shot.

Primitive approach by Wenger to this game. Let’s hope he got some actual tactics for the second half.

  14. Ozil not up for it tonight it seems. Pool hungry and us the opposite. Hopefully the first 25 mins will catch up with pool late on, crazy game! Coyg!!

    1. Ozil is not in the game? he’s chasing down as campbell doing because we losing the ball so easy and Pool is pressing quick.they will not keep that tempo for lonh so we need to keep tight as out two central midfielders are giving too much space.Ramsey holding ball for too long.he has to make the one touch that arsenal used to be famous for but let’s keep the energy..Man this boy Joel is an engine going up and down ( OX learn a bit) this game would have been ideal for Alexis, believe me. WE NEED A DM to stop this many shots from central positions pool is having.fingers cross we score the next one

  15. Speechless …. It’s like watching a couple of pub teams … Could end up 5 a piece … Need santi and coq back ASAP to fill midfield …But a 60m bid for a quality attacker would calm the nerves

      1. @baldyloxxx
Ramsey is too undisciplined. Santi and Le Coq run our midfield with precision…Ramsey and Flame look comical.

        1. Ramsey is one of the best box to box midfielders around. He’s an engine.
If he had Coq to get his back, he’d look a lot better.

          Rambo scores goals.

  16. we dont look like champions.

we look like we just left the tent…after a night on brokeback mountain.

  17. for all the hullabaloo being created for pool’s performance, both their goals came from lucky deflections …. and with the amount of pressing pool is doing i doubt they will be able to maintain the tempo till end…. we on the other hand inspite of our miss-passes seem to be playing with our handbrake on …. hoping for a better 2nd half

  18. That miss is the reason why I will never be confident with Giroud as our striker…I don’t care that he scored…you cannot miss such a sitter in such a big game

    1. Look, if you know Giroud well if not penalty, he doesn’t like easy goal. Watch out for his second goal.

  19. i was never sold on campbell, but now i will order his kit, if he keeps playing like this, its lights out,

  20. Flamini is lost in this game … And with Ramsey too far forward maybe chambers can bring a bit of stability

  21. Even after Giroud’s CL heroics and today’s performance and currently 5th place of top scorers and just 3 goals behind the leader, Giroud STILL has haters and doubters
    UNBELIEVABLE

    1. Cause he misses sitters that great ST will put away.
He is good and I like him, but he is not great.

    2. I don’t understand some of us. Even Aguero miss some good chances. I pray Giroud scores his third of the day. We like killing of players instead of encouragement. Thanks @Devros.

  22. Name your subs.

Not Gibbs as it means we lose counter attack and means Pool can push us deep.

Ox for Theo? Only one I would make and maybe Chambers for Flamini or Ramsey.

      1. Ox is better defensively and will cause problems on counter, but he has the ability to gift goals in games like this

  23. League is looking tougher than ever.

Pundits say others are weak like City and United, but its others that are improving.

    1. Always liked Campbell, just needed game time.

When you play with better players you first look lost, but then they lift you, they rub off and your game improves.

  24. Come on Arsenal. Hang in there
City drew and Leicester is currently 0-0 with Spuds
We can extend our lead with a win

  25. Why Gibbs? why not Iwobi and Keep Pool defence worried instead of letting us push us back and back until they score? tactically wrong for me.

  26. Well looks like Arsenal and Leicester are main rivals.

They just dont look like slowing down.

I know alot can change, but also a Leicester win pushes 4th place further away.

Would love Leicester to get CL football.

  27. A good season where they make CL and finish top 3 can create a club.

All that revenue, sponsorship, good players arrive for European football.

Could they become another big team?

    Arteta hmmmm.

  28. Any body saw that first touch from Ozil while controlling a long diagonal pass from Ox
    It was Zidanesque

  29. Yep, that was coming ever since we scored the third. Completely stopped attacking. Now we are lucky to get even a point
