Official Arsenal team for FA Cup semi-final with Man City

Arsenal have named a completely unchanged starting line-up for today’s FA Cup encounter with Manchester City.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger moved to switch to a relatively unused system using three defenders on Monday, and despite failing to impress in the new system, he has opted to stick with it.

I’m most disappointed that Bellerin hasn’t been included in the line-up, but now isn’t the time to get downhearted.

Does this team have what it takes to deny Manchester City?

Someone sent me link saying jesus was playing

      Phew!

Toured was weak.link when he came on time an de bruyne got moved. It slowed them down

      We have a shot!!

Let’s wait and see, would have preffered Bellerin in place of Ox while Ox plays further forward and Giroud starts from the bench…goodluck!

  2. Ronny

3 at the back against city! Omg.
This could well become 90 minutes of us playing 5 to 7 at the back.
Can see us getting annihilated today 4 goal spread…….unless everyone turns up then we should avoid humiliation at least.

  3. Goonerboy

Remember when we wanna play Bayern 2nd leg when Pep was their manager…when he said Giroud starting he said;……”We will press long ball Arsenal”

Now, seeing Giroud start again, City can press us high up and be confident nothing will happen…Ozil will be missing as usual leaving only Ox and of course Alexis as our ‘useful’ attackers…

Eventhough, our manager never learns and as set us up for humiliation, I still wish them the best of the best of luck cos that’s what we need!

  4. Ronny

I quote Rio wants to take his shoes off and get some boots on. Please do, put an Arsenal shirt on and ask Gabriel to take a seat.

The lazy good for nothing forker, I can’t believe his sticking with the same team that started against Middlesbrough ??Okay Folks, Brace yourself for what could be our biggest defeat of the season ?

It is well… I wanted this formation but no with the RAM-sey! I’d prefer bellerin on too!

Don’t know why people have such a problem with three at the back? We get destroyed so often on the counter, so what’s better – two at the back or three at the back? What’s better for set-pieces – less height or more height?

People seem to have completely forgotten that our normal four at the back, quickly turns into two at the back because both wing-backs push up at the same time. The three CB’s will be staying back at all times, hence more protection.

Looks like Giroud’s hamstring is tight. Fingers crossed.

  9. jisig

I rather put Iwobi than Ramsey. They are pressing us now and non of our starting xi can hold the ball than Iwobi.

I think whatever formation we went with it was always going to be a tough game. I look forward to seeing how this looks against a good side, I think a few people said similar after Midd. The worst thing from the Midd game in my opinion was Giroud, terrible performance, he might as well not have been there. I hope he can make himself a nuisance today by bringing his aggressive game with him.

Seriously the players are the problem of this club. They have poor mentality towards big teams. Sell them all.

  12. Kiko

This game is boring already. I never understood why we are so timid to let these teams have all the possession and depend on a counterattack. I thought as a big club you put it on your opponent as much as they put it on you or even more.

  13. RSH

we looked vastly inferior. we’re definitely just looking for a 1-0 smash and grab because we are offering nothing in attack.

  14. Rkw

Wow that was exciting …. Too timid ,,,their defence needs to be attacked … Sanchez not in this game but with xhaxa Ramsey in middle we lack any imagination … Doubly wenger will make changes til 70m

  15. The troll formerly known as robin vanpayslip

Imagine arsenal actually win and play the same system in the final. There would be a huge gap in the middle of the pitch with each teams players in their own half and no one knowing what to do

  16. Break-on-through

Kiko is right, we need to up our tempo. Dropping back dropping back just causes problems in the end. Our CM need to get a grip on this game, we look outnumbered at times because Ozil is not the type to add to a CM battle.

  17. Dennis the Menace

of all arsenal players ox is the most frustrating, so much of potential yet so little consistency

  18. RSH

Terrible. From Ramsey givewaway, to useless Monreal, to terrible Gk from Cech. That was such a heavy touch, could’ve stopped that.

      1. RSH

True. He shouldn’t have been the last one back. Better question is what our 3 CB’s were doing.

        1. Janssen

It all started with Ramsey losing the ball uselessly taking on 3 defenders as if he was Messi.

    1. bran99

After I saw Aguero’s heavy touch I thought there the attack is dead, then I saw Cech coming slowly like we already won.. F**k

  19. Rkw

Ramsey should b in league one he us that level .. As for Chech … Top class I don’t think so… Pity we were playing well

  20. luvdaguns

wheres those two players we are all begging to keep, pathetic! aquero out runs monreal and aquero has to control the ball, pathetic, need a new manger, a complete overhaul, tired of this sh*t!

    1. RSH

both of them are not good enough but at least Iwobi is younger and has a ton of time to improve. Ramsey is proven waste of space. Has done nothing since 13/14 season.

  21. jisig

Can u imagine Monreal was the only one chasing Aguero? Where was koscielny and Gabriel? That’s how they always got caught out of position and people keep slating Monreal for nothing. To me Monreal is our best defender this season.

  22. RSH

And what’s the point of wingbacks if nobody in the squad can play a decent cross? Only Ox’s first half cross actually reached another Arsenal player.

  23. Uzi Ozil

We sat back no goal, we came out then we conceded a goal. Ramsey, what was that.

Monreal should have been aware since he is the last man but Ramsey just messed up.

Cech could have done better there as Kun touch was heavy.

Ox our best player so far..

  24. lord wafflebury

Ffs ramsey !! Up till then i had forgotten he was even playing…enough with wengers toy boy ..get him out

  25. Uzi Ozil

And I just said ox is our best player so far and he came up with the assist. Monreal with the goal.

      1. RSH

Because Arsenal GK’s dont save penalties anymore, especially Cech. I want Fabianski back for this one haha.

  26. Dennis the Menace

ozil’s performance in this match doesn’t even warrant him a 20k salary let alone a 200k salary

    1. RSH

he’s had several chances to put us ahead. If we lose we again will be discussing Ozil simply not producing in a big game yet again. I really have no problem with him leaving this summer. He doesn’t have the guts to be a player that matters in this league.

        1. RSH

he has done nothing in final third. The formation change has him running and pressing more, but that’s about it. I can’t think of anything notable he’s done this game besides miss easy final third passes or shoot wide.

  27. Fatboy Gooney

That moment when Danny Setback had all the time in the world ?
I give him a 9 out of 10 for his Zippy (from Rainbow) impersonation after he missed.
Ozil can fork off now and take Ramsey with him.
We have been Very Lucky so far, fingers crossed ?

    1. Deci23

I don’t think anyone’s saying in Wenger we trust. We or most of us just want Arsenal to win. Credit where credit is due if we go onto win this game that would be some come back. Most of us including me predicted City running away with this and City haven’t played bad so Credit to Arsenal if we can finish this without going to penalties.

        1. RichSAAlao

Good, good, good observation. The Arsenal fans are the most unrelenting, “riotuous”, dissenting, failure-wishing so as to curse and complain fans currently. They won the medal for that, actually since the blogs came.

    1. reddb10

Totally agree mate. when you cant even pass the ball with your other foot you shouldnt be a professional

  28. luvdaguns

sweet! any win vs city is huge! nice way to end a terrible season, if we can beat chelsea somehow….

  29. Rkw

Shocked but happy and deserved on second half and et performance … The back three were pretty decent … Ramsey and giroud were hapless but everyone else looked good … Welbeck should start from now on

  30. Janssen

Shout out to Holding, Ox, and Sanchez. Actually also thought Ozil had a high energy game for his standards (I know some of you don’t agree – but IMO he had a good game).

  31. Janssen

Can we conclude this 3 at the back system works for us? Or did City have another off day?

It appeared to me we were more solid defensively.

  32. Javier

In a unimpressed performance Arsenal overpowered in extra time and undecided Manchester City

    Lucky Wenger

  33. Break-on-through

I thought our team shape was good against Midd, and for the most part today it looked good. Aerially we look much improved with this system. Also Alexis and Ozil get some freedom to both use the centre, link up and float around.
