Official Arsenal XI and preview for FA cup v Watford

Can Arsenal take one more step towards that 130 year old record of three FA cup wins in a row? And can we continue the turnaround in form began at White Hart Lane a week ago and backed up brilliantly in Hull on Tuesday? It will not be easy as Watford are pretty much injury free and Flores has named his strongest possible team.

Things are not quite so easy for the Arsenal boss, but even with a trip to Barcelona just around the corner Arsene Wenger has given the Gunners just about the best possible chance of going through in the FA cup by naming big players like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil from the start.

He has changed the full backs to bring in Chambers and Gibbs but with Mertesacker paired with Gabriel in the centre it is a strong looking back line. And with the energy and defensive abilities of Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny offering further protection the boss has acted to cancel the counter attacking threat of Deeney and Ighalo.

Ospina
Chambers, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Gibbs
Elneny, Coquelin
Campbell, Ozil, Sanchez
Giroud

Subs: Macey, Bellerin, Monreal, Flamini, Iwobi, Walcott, Welbeck

If things do get tough then Arsenal do have good attacking options on the bench in Walcott, Welbeck and Iwobi as well as good cover. Come On You Gunners we need to get the job done today!!

  1. Sad wenger leaves on a low but that’s what happens when you take a club down … Just get rid of this tired pensioner it’s outrageous

    1. Actually gutted, but sadly not surprised.

When a team sleepwalks through 80 minutes of a game that realistically is there only feasible chance @ a trophy how can you possibly not question our players @ $8M a year dinosaur of a manager.

There is something permanently broken @ the club and I believe it resides with the message or lack there of from our beloved leader.

If you aren’t going to spend money to realistically challenge for European and domestic silverware then spate us the BS rhetoric and lower ticket prices for a middle level club expectation.

The grit, determination and post match celebration from a deserving Watford squad was a transparent reminder of why Arsenal is what it is right now

An aimless ship @ sea with a clueless captain way past his best days.

    2. Man, what’s wrong with you? are you so obsessed with Wenger that you can’t even see the obvious? You must be Wenger or paid by him.

  2. And Wenger said no matter what they do the fans are never happy. I lost a lot of respect from that statement followed by this result.

  3. Some obs:
    – Chambers has been the biggest disapointment, he’s slow and clumsy.

    – Sanchez too wasteful for his pricetag, and too small – gets pushed of the ball to easy.

    – Welbeck better than Giroud.

    – Defence: whole backline is rubbish today

    – Elneny can’t hit target

    – Özil did well, even defensivly.
