Official teams and preview of Arsenal v Dortmund – Sanogo starts!!

As wellas the injury problems continuing to pile up for Arsenal, with Jack Wilshere out for a while and now both of our first choice keepers unavailable as well as Danny Welbeck. At least Arsene Wenger had the good news about Laurent Koscielny, but the Frenchman has decided not to rush the French centre back and has stuck with the same back four that has struggled in recent games.

Another major talking point is the inclusion in the line up of our young French striker Yaya Sanogo, who is still looking for his firts senior Gunners goal. But his pace and power in the centre forard role means that Wenger does not have to change the system.

There are striking options on the bench, with Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell wjo have both been champing at the bit to get some game time, so let’s hope they take their chance tonight if and when it comes. And we have a new name on the bench, with the teenage keeper Ryan Huddart ready for his debut if anything happens to Martinez.

  1. Wengers fault jack is always getting injured,,,,Keeps on playing him in CAM role,,,,,, hes wayyy better as a deep lying playmaker,,as shown in ENgland performances,,, hes messing up his career and potential

    1. Stop talking trash man. He sustained is 1st career threatening injury as a deep lying playmaker,remember? What is it with all these england performance noise cos i dont see him doing it against top team like germany, argentina etc. Wait until england face better teams before you start making a fuss about nothing. Re – the topic, we dont event have an option for dm on the bench in case arteta sustain injury. Realistically, i dont fancy us beating dotmund, a draw is possible but this is futbol where anything can happen. COYG!!!

    2. For those disliking,, it is true, Jacks style makes him prone for bad tackles,,, his long ball vision and runs are better from a deep position

Man, you are contradicting yourself saying he wont get injured playing as a deeplying playmaker then saying his playing style makes him prone to injuries.the point i am trying to make is wether he plays as a striker,dm,cam,winger etc,he would always sustaing injury because of the same reason you gave-his playing style

    1. Wasn’t it Sanogo who played big at Dortmund away last season? I bet Wenger thinks that he will play even better than that… even though Sanogo just came back from injury and still hasn’t scored for us yet.

Sanogo is injury proned so i dont see him completing 90min. Meaning podoski/rosicky, rosicky/campbell or podosky/campbell would get to play. The problem is they might not get more than 5min- you know wenger and substitution

  7. Well this shows the mediocrity of wenger, same players same tactics in every match that shows it all of wenger’s poor decisions, tactics etc every thing.. Now we have to rely on sanogo as our striker for this crucial match this tells it all of our poor season we had top class strikers in the past wright, bergkamp, anelka,henry,rvp but now mediocre strikers sanogo,welbeck, giroud, its a fact not an opinion.. Not supporting wenger any more I am an AOB now a days.. Hope we win tonight not for wenger but for us fans and for our club.. COYG!!.. #Wenger out#

  13. I am thinking this will gonna be close and tight contest.. I still think we may get a victory here but just 2-1 for me but very difficult game.. Dortmund are playing excellent in ucl and have a good starting 11 even without reus, hummels.. Fingers crossed and all eyes will be on @jurgen klopp..

  18. Hilarious starting line up from Wenger. As always, never, ever learning from his mistakes. We’ll definitely be starting the game with three players out of position, possible four if Santi’s out wide again, and the icing on the cake is a striker up front who doesn’t score goals.

    I’d say Wenger is playing for the defeat, let alone a draw.

    Arsenal 1-3 Dortmund is a very realistic result. But in defeat, I’m sure they’ll be plenty of positives to take out of the game.

  19. Trashed or not, starting Sanogo ahead of Camphell and Podolski is an insult to other players, n like sticking a boot to Dortmund… Wenger is not very far away from going bonkus….

    1. Campbell or Lukas as central striker has never been and never will be a workable proposition. Raw and un-cordinated as he is, YS offers far more. Something I think he showed tonight before his obligatory injury.

  20. Nice to see Wenger trusts Bellerin enough to sit him on the bench. It’s been a looooong time since I’ve been excited about an Arsenal starting line-up and….. I’m still waiting. The best result is probably a draw so we qualify but can rotate players for the last game in Turkey. I suppose it will be good to see what Sonogo does but I was really hoping to see Campbell

  21. i am so pissed off right now. the only way this can turn into a good evening is us managing not to receive more than 3 goals and aw is forced to bring poldi and rosicky in after ht who win the
    game for us. so that this stubborn old man can see what to make better.

  22. When the ball comes to Sanogo he looks like a new born calf trying to walk for the first time. I see some good things in him but he is so tentative in possession and never looks convincing with the ball.

    Podolski scored last time he played and is also our best finisher.

    Or alternatively

    Campbell doesn’t score goals often but you could always play him on the wing and Sanchez up front.

    Does anyone know why Poldi or Campbell are with club? All Poldi does is score goals, but Wenger does not like that.

    And Campbell deserves more than 10 minutes playing time this season otherwise what is the point of his existence.

    You put your best players on the field. I’m sorry but you can put Podolski or Sanchez ahead of Sanogo.

    With Giroud, Welbeck, Podolski, Campbell and Sanchez in our club Sanchez should be on loan. Lots of forwards
    Yet we have Jenkison on loan when we are short of defenders.

  62. Sanchez hold on to the ball too much when we are countering.. That’s his main problem. He will hold on to it for far too long and he always gives it away..

    That’s what he need to work on, need to know when to release or keep..

  65. Do we have someone on the bench to replace Arteta? he is already booked and i am worried that he will end up getting a red. So far I am pleased with our performance, it is not far from that of Man united, the difference is we have the goal.
