Official teams and preview of Arsenal v Galatasaray

Arsenal will want to get their Champions League campaign back on trach this evening and we have a great chance at home against Galatasaray. And not only will a win put us back in a good position to at least qualify, a good performance will go a long way to banishing the memory of the poor showing against Borussia Fortmund two weeks ago.

Arsene Wenger has the usual injury problems to contend with and the Frenchman will also have one eye on the trip to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. That is probably the reason for him leaving Jack Wilshere out of the starting line up tonight.

So the Gunners start with Mathieu Flamini, Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers keeps his place at right back. It looks like a strong attacking line-up and Wenger will want us to start well and put the Turkish opponents under severe pressure.

Szczesny
Chambers, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs
Flamini
Alexis, Ozil, Chamberlain, Cazorla
Welbeck

subs: Ospina, Coquelin, Bellerin, Rosicky, Wilshere, Campbell, Podolski

Arsenal have a strong looking defence and with Flamini in front of them, hopefully we will not be in too much danger from the counter attack. We also have a few good options on the bench in case things do not go according to plan. COYG!

      1. You can say that again. What took Wenger so long? Finally we are playing our best football simply because we played wingers on the wings and utilized our pace. So instead of saturating the team with central midfielders who just pass the ball around in midefield, we have our pacy wingers bombing down the flanks, swinging in crosses and banging in goals. Galatasaray are getting murdered at the emirates.

      1. What country are you from? I want to move somewhere where Ozil plays in the middle.

Also please confirm you see no Wilshere on the pitch?

    1. Have we not had enough of the failed CAM on the LW experiment? Neither Cazorla nor Ozil should ever be on the LW unless Wenger is down to only 11 healthy players and only CAMs are available.

I would rather see any of these players on the LW instead of Ozil/Cazorla:

Ox, Poldi, Campbell, Sanchez, Rosicky, Wilshere, Diaby, Kos, Sczeny, Giroud, Gnabry, Arteta, Zalalem, Coquelin or Bellerin.

  1. “Nice to see such strong defensive cover on the bench” he said with sarcasm dripping from his lips.

So who will Wenger sub in if a CB goes down??? I guess you could call Ospina a “defender.”

  2. I think everyone picked this
line up 3 days ago. Even me πŸ™‚
    The consistency is promising.
I am starting to really like
Sanchez Ox Ozil Cazorla Wilshere combo
and the back 5 look very settled.
Just need Flame to recaptures his form of old
and that Wellbeck continue to develop.
    Even without Ramsey Walcott Giroud
Debuchy Sanogo Diaby the bench looks good.
A good win tonight is in the offing and
    building momentum.
Please no red cards or injuries.
    Arsenal 3-1.

  3. Has Wenger been under cover on this site. My team for tonight which I posted a few days ago was.

  4. What’s the difference between Welbeck and Man United. Welbeck is playing in the CL πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  5. That b2b position suits cazorla quite well. In fact i feel that this is our strongest starting 11 without extra cams on the wings and both ozil and santi trough the middle

  6. Welbaaaaaaaaaaaak … that’s pace ….. please Wenger don’t renew Giroud contract

  7. someone change Galatasaray’s name to Chelsea then al be veeeeeery happy

  8. Tony F@cking Gale can’t say one good word about Mesut Ozil. His cockney granny must’ve been bombed in the blitz

  9. To be honest Galatasaray are making this quite easy for us. That formation is totally messing with them

  10. Just got in and saw the score omg! Can someone please confirm the lineup and whos playing where? Coyg!

  11. I hate to have to say this but seriously, THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE ALL WANTED ALL ALONG WENGER: Play Ozil as CAM and then three fast players around him (Ox, Welbeck, Sanchez) and we dominate. Obviously, Gala have been terrible and they are using 3 CBs which is stupid but we are still playing better than usual. (also Cazorla in the middle or are they all interchanging?)

    1. @BigWilli
He thinks he’s a box2box mid. He needs to check his positioning. He’s leavin a big gap, exposin us.

  12. Now thats the arsenal I kno coyg , AW U SEE THE DIFFRENCE WE U PLAY PLAYERS IN THEIR POSITION ………

  13. Cazorla doing what wilshere and rambo have failed to do. Dictate play, move the ball fast, spread play. Hes making us play so much better.

  14. Agree with Andrew
Against Villa we slacked off in second half

    Lets score more goals.
In order for us to win trophies we need to win big from time to time.

I want to see Welbeck hat-trick

  15. I hope Sanchez is allowed to
    keep playing his natural game
and is not converted into a
    pass pass pass puppet
    pundits were calling for.
    Certainly missed him v Spurs.
Why did he play v Southampton???
Arsenal look so much better when they attack
and forget the sideways backwards passing malarchy.
Have to tie this game up after the break but a good
    opportunity for Campbell and Podolski
    Save Wilshere for Sunday.

  16. First time I’ve been able to sit back and relax watching an Arsenal game! Anyone else agree Welbeck’s second goal had a hint of Thierry about it?

  17. Imagine hummels in place of mert and sniderlin in place of flamini
Then we could actually compete with anyone

  18. Sub Welbeck, Sanchez, Ozil, Szczesny, chambers, Mertsacker, Koscielny, Gibbs. We need them all rested and injury free for Chelski

  19. Danny wellbeck has ended girouds arsenal career..
Not putting a dampner on the night but if giroud was playing he would never have scored any of those goals..

It just shows what we have been missing..! Wellbeck isn’t world class but we have sorely missed someone with above average ability..
He’s our best striker at the club and better than Walcott and giroud..
He’s quick strong and can use both feet .. A breath of fresh air..

Galatasaray are the shits so I’m not getting carried away as I’ve said previously .. Because the real test lies in wait on Sunday

    Oh nice one chez!!

    1. You are an idiot

If Giroud has scored 40 goals in two seasons, what makes you think Giroud would not have scored “any” of the goals tonight. He was also scoring before he got injured.

      1. I’m not wasting my breath on you as you are an imbecile with no football knowledge..!

  20. Hey Intruders are starting to swallow your own words? Remember the deadline day? that is what Super Danny can give you!!!!!!!!!. OOOOOh what is that by Sezni

    1. Ozil has done ok tonight , he’s never going to break his neck in tackles but he give the front 3 quality passes

    2. You kidding right? He was the mastermind behind this rape. Ozil is awesome when he play’s centrally

  21. What’s with that fakking ref?!?!?! Why didn’t he send of that Gala-player for dangerous play, but has no problem sending off our keeper??

  22. Come on Szcezny!!! What the hell! That’s honestly one of his few flaws he has, he is way too rash in coming out

  23. Typical of the ref, he didn’t remember to send off Melo for his lunge on sanchez but sends off our goalkeeper for apparently “shooting” a player

  24. Saw alexis sanchez with an ice pack on his leg, i pray that it isnt serious, and that he would be available for chelsea on sunday! We need him! Coyg!
