Official teams and preview of Hull v Arsenal

There are not too many surprises for Arsenal fans today, in fact it looks like the Arsenal team is almost picking itself at the minute, with Arsene Wenger sticking with the same starting line-up that faced Chelsea eight days ago.

There are a couple of surprises on the bench though, as with Mathieu Debuchy ruled out due to an injury niggle I thought the boss would go with Chambers to cover both right back and central defence. Kieran Gibbs is there along with Gabriel though so we have decent cover.

Another surprise for me was that Danny Welbeck is not in the squad, leaving Theo Walcott as our only striking option. You would assume that with Giroud, Alexis, Ozil and all we would be alright against Hull City but you have to wonder why Welbeck is left out while Tomas Rosicky is on the bench and the Gunners already have the likes of Ramsey and Cazorla in positions that are not their best. Jack Wilshere is also on the bench and I expect to see him at some point as long as the game allows it.

Ospina
Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Coquelin
Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil, Alexis
Giroud

subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Gabriel, Flamini, Wilshere, Rosicky, Walcott

Hull´s big striker Jelavic is fit again but only makes the bench but their five man midfield is likely to make this a tough game for the Gunners but one we really need to win if we want that second spot in the Premier League.

  1. Ramsey on wings again !!!! This is reason why we wont win anything, summer trasnfer window wont change anything, while Wenger plays his favourites in stupid 433 with no wings.

    1. It’s really not that crazy considering they all interchange throughout the game. Also our best team definitely includes ozil, cazorla, ramsey and coquelin. Obviously all these players can’t play centrally so one of them will have to do the team a favour and play out wide. Ramsey is probably the most versatile, So to me, this is the best formation.

      1. Either play Ramsey in CMF or don’t play him at all. We should have a first class RW in the team and we need one this summer so Ramsey won’t have to play there.

        1. We have good RW in Walcott, if Wenger doenst rate him, than why extend his contract? Buy someone who will actually play and not sit on bench while earning 100k per week.

          1. As far as I’m concerend Walcott is a goner, like it or not. Doesn’t sign contract, and since return from injury he can’t dribble past one player, it’s like he is scared. Bellerin would make a far better RW than Walcott is right now.

            1. Out of nowhere, Walcott suddenly becomes not good enough. Why? To excuse Wengers desicion to put Ramsey ahead of him on the wings.

You are spot on with the dribblings and beating players, but if Theo cant do it, then Ramsey cant do it aswell.

              1. its not about his ability, its his contract demands and time on the injury table, he demands more then he is worth,

    2. The fakk is wrong in using Walcott for once? Ramsey sure is Wengers fav sunnyboy.

  2. Rasmey on the wing is a waste. We end up having too many players in central (Ramsey getting to close to Cazorla or Ozil) and the right side is then handled by Bellerin for almost the whole 90 by himself.

  3. all ramseys contribution came from middle, and if you look strenghts of our teams, like OG, his main attribute is header, how can you use his best when there is no one to cross and stretch opponent defense, i am sure we will beat Hull, but what will happened when we play strong defensive team, who will break their defense?

  4. Brilliant lets put out a team that go nowhere last weekend against a team that will be motivated off the charts to get a result …. Hope I’m wrong
NGO but Monday night in hull can be a bleak place… Need a determined effort from the off

  5. Give Wenger a Ferrari and will try to turn it into a Fiat. Give him a Fiat he will try to make him into a Ferrari. Specialist in F*cking up players pozitions.

  6. Drop either Ramsey, Cazorla or Ozil and play a RW.

We become very narrow against compact defences when we should stretch it to make space for the middle players.

Sanchez comes in as well so it left to full backs for width. This also does not play ti OG advantage.

  7. wenger plays the same style every game lol again with ramsay on the right when he has theo in the bench.

    1. Yeah, absolute disaster, 4 wins a draw and 2 goals and 3 assists for AR. Seriously some of you guys have no imagination – like everything with its correct label on it, all your ducks lined neatly in a row. Ramsey + Bellerin works better than Walcott + Bellerin is likely to work. Theo was effectively always our second striker – we have now some geezer called Alexis doing that instead.

  8. Coquelin off the ball is the best in the leauge, he needs to improve then he has the ball, otherwise Wenger will bench him.

  9. damn, i read these comments and you would think we are playing like Man Utd or Spurs, we are two games in hand comfortable in 2nd with another FA Cup ifinal in our future, we are playing our best season in years! we have yet to loose a BPL match in many moons, come on brothers! enjoy!

  10. We need to stop fannying about – get the passing going, and stop allowing crosses into our box

  11. Huddlestone got caught on the ball, Livermore gives away foul, Dawson deflects it in…goal made in Sh!te Fart Lane !

  12. Sometimea Sanchez annoys me with his extra unnecessary couple of touches. He does not pass the ball and eventally gets narrowed down and fouled. Though this time it gave us the free kick and goal but a lot of times it kills a potentially good move. Unless you are Messi you are not allowed to do that.

      1. I used to moan about Wenger but I see something special happening. Look at the stats from 2015.

  13. so everyone above that complained about ramsey being worthless at wing can relax, this squad is damn good, enjoy it, we can play with anyone…

    1. best arsenal squad in many years, wish these guys were healthy all season, be lifting the trophey

  14. Ramsey other than pace issue(which anyways is ok with Bellerin behind him) makes sense to me on the wing. He is a better finisher and better defensively than Cazorla or Ozil and Cazorla is a better passer of the long ball as seen.

  15. Mert saved our arses twice, Hull scrapping for their lives, this would be a very tough win on the road

    1. We look like scoring every time we attack. The bloke that said 2-5 might be right

      1. all smiles in san francisco, can not wait until next season, no doubt this squad will be able to play in final 4 of UCL, pure class

    1. Typical wob. Total lack of class respect and most of all support. Then come the woohoos.

  16. beautiful!!! keep thumbing me down for being positive! i love this squad! pure class!!!

  17. Ramsey till now man of the match. The game is very boring as we are way to go good for them. Hope to see some subs in the sec part.

      1. well with u k, talkin ramsey down, 45 mins later hes made u look bit foolish.

everyones out of position etc- youve had some gems geezer

        1. no one here said ramsey wasnt good enough, its just some people here think 433 should be played with wingers, just like rest of world is playing.

          1. Why? Because your text books told you?

He plays Ramsey because he is better in the final third then anyone else and he has bellerin in behind who makes up the width, adds attacking threat. Also Ramsey can defend and make up for bellerin’s positioning errors on occasions.

Makes perfect sense. If Walcott starts to get sharpness and starts to finish like he once was, then we can maybe drop one of the three. Or if Wenger plays debuchy or chambers RB then maybe Walcott can get a game.

          2. 4-3-3 – not sure about that. The traditional winger has been dead for ages mate. Catch up. Hector and Nacho are our width – nothing has changed.

    1. but they are fans!! to think we were in 6th place in January w SOU and Spurs and Livershite ahead of us, oh if we were only healthy in November/December… Lets get another FA and get the league next year!

  18. There is so much negativity on here, you have to wonder if some people are true Arsenal supporters.

    1. its not negativity is simple logic, we couldnt beat chelsea with this same line up, and when ramsey was injured, wilshere got up from bench, so Walcot is out for sure

      1. we have not lost in the BPL since February 7th, Chelsea did not play to win or loose, not much can be done when your opponent is afraid to play you…

  19. Santis best game for sure, what a player, and i was wrong about ramsey, lets score 2 or 3 more so we can get our 2nd position today !!!

  20. Eep it in perspective, we are playing one of the worst teams in the league. But some of this passing has been unreal.

  21. Also, only 1 behind Man City on Goal Difference now, plus we have a game in hand to boost it more. I think we could top them at the end of the season. It’ll be tough though, we still have to visit Old Trafford.

    1. I was at Old Trafford on Saturday (corporate thing) Believe me, we have NOTHING to fear going there. Man Utd were truely woeful.

  22. So, Hull are allowed to follow through on virtually every tackle…ref missed one on Coq and another there on Kos.

  23. They’re desperate, bring on Walcott so we can hit them on the counter. Or else do a mourinho and bring on another DM to play alongside coq

  24. Should not’ve been a goal, Kos was deliberately taken out of play and he had won the ball.

  25. Ramsey is tired, give him some rest Wenger and get Wilsher in the game. Ozil is simple fantastic. Girouds need to be subb aswell.

  26. Great dribbling by Wilshere, but exactly at these situations he always gets injured. He has to release the ball earlier!!!

  27. Dunno why the hull lot are booing if he hadn’t have pulled Kos down, he wouldn’t have a stud in the eye

  28. Poor refereeing – Mert fouled in penalty area yet nothing given- could’ve been dangerous

  29. If I am Walcott I will leave arsenal. Sub me when only 5 mins left, what the point.

    1. He;s got to play well to get into a winning team….if he can’t do that, he can leave

    1. Yep – would’ve been a penalty if the same thing had happened in Arsenal’s area.

  30. Walcott is def leaving this summer, he can’t even get 18 mins in a game we’re comfortably winning??

  31. was concerned going in about a 0-0 draw, got all three pts… beautiful football, too many MOTMs to mention, almost every player did their job well, well done boyz!

  32. I’m really surprised with Ozil’s stamina. I think he was our best player tonight. Aslo I think Sanchez has to learn when to quit dribbling and pass the ball and when to feed your teammate and to b less selfish. I think Welcott had a better chance of scoring than him. Wilsher is another story…….the guy never learns……getting stuckin traffic is his speciality…

    Other than that……..perfect game.

    1. Sport review gives Ozil a rating of 4 for this game. Blind idiot had no clue what he saw today.
