Ox feels fluent and firing Arsenal have clicked again – Title chase on?

Arsenal were the top scoring team in the Premier League for a while this weekend, until Liverpool scored three on their way to a surprise defeat at AFC Bournemouth, after and Alexis Sanchez hat-trick and goals from Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain added another five to our EPL tally for the season.

That just highlights one of the major strengths of Arsenal this season and the three from our new centre forward shows just how important he is to the team,. but the fact that the goals were also shred as well as the number of chances we made suggests that Arsenal might just be getting the fluency back after a dodgy November.

That was certainly how the Ox saw it, with Arsenal.com reporting that the England international felt after the game that the whole team really clicked again, even though the Gunners had been wasteful with our chances before the break.

He said, “Yeah, it felt like that, especially second half. It seemed like we were flowing.

“The game opened up a bit and when we were going forward we looked like we were all in sync. Alexis was making runs, Mesut was making runs and the boys were coming in behind them, we felt like we knew what we were doing and we were creating opportunities.

“I’m really happy in the end to get on the scoresheet. Once you start getting one goal or opportunities open up, your hunger for it grows even more and I think I’ve seen that over the years in Alexis. He scores two and he’s unhappy he hasn’t scored a hat-trick.

“That was almost the way I was feeling today. After I scored my first I was keen to go and score a second and a third. That’s what you need, you need that hunger to keep pushing you to strive to do better.”

It was great to see Chamberlain playing well and having a big influence and it seems like there are more Arsenal than ever getting in on the act this season. Is the Ox right about us getting back to our best? Have we now got a strong enough team and enough players producing when for Arsenal to prove the doubters wrong?

  1. I hope Arsenal can kick on from this now. Yes, West Ham were shocking, but we still had to do our job, and lads were excellent. If we were more clinical in the final third (especially first half), we could have been looking at double figures! The Ox did play some woeful final balls at times, but did get better throughout the game, and overall he had a good performance. Just hope he can finally start showing some consistency.

  2. The OX is now ahead of Iwobi now. I would like to see Lucas start in place of Walcott in the next game as well.

  3. We already knew, about Ox and his not afraid to shoot character. That’s positive for him and (sometimes, like last night) for us. One thing he still has to fix, his crossing accuracy. I believe we can see lot more from him if he does it.
