Ozil and Sanchez behind Higuain transfer to Arsenal?

The rumours are growing about the Napoli and Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain coming to Arsenal and hopefully it is like the old adage of ‘there’s no smoke without fire’ rather than the football media simply printing and repeating stuff in order to sell papers and get hits on their websites.

We will have to wait and see, of course, but the Jamie Vardy transfer saga, even though the England star did eventually opt to stay with the Premier League champions Leicester City, proved that another striker was high on the list of priorities for the manager this summer.

However, the fact that Wenger went for Vardy in the first place, even though his main quality as a counter attacking threat is not really all that suited to the way the Gunners play, suggests to me that our boss is not entirely sure what he wants, just that he wants to add to his current options.

And the reason for that, in my opinion, is that he is under pressure from the two main men at the club, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. These two are desperate for success and their talent deserves to be rewarded with a major trophy or three. Both are in line for talks over signing a contract extension and both want assurances that Arsenal match their ambition for success.

Is this why Arsenal are, fingers crossed, on the verge of the big money transfer of Higuain?

  1. now the rumour mill have switched GH.. what about the LUKAZETTERATA.

    INDEED FINGERS CROSSED..
AW HELP US AND YOURSELF AND US THE 12 YEARS WAITING FOR A TROPHY…

    1. Lukamorazettuain!

I’m not keeping any fingers crossed!……

Would rather keep my eyes open

  2. i believe with them both not willing to extend contracts and now laurent koscielny is refusing to sign new contract offer…he will have to do something.

our buys should be done an getting used to there new team now in time for new season.
wenger handles transfer windows so poorly – i just hope for sake of all this division between fans he does get what we need.
last year dragged on with all the fighting banners arguing.

in an ideal world he would win one more title an go, leave in a blaze of glory. he deserves that for all hes done for our club
please arsene take the risk…we are behind you for doing so

    1. I think the koscielny contract issue is just media hype. He signed a new long term contract in 2014, there are reports that it runs out in a years time, other reports say 2019. If it had been next year I think we would have heard something before now. After all we know contract talks are ongoing with ozil and sanchez and they have two years to run.

  3. Well, other teams have actual players we recruit rumours. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Ozil and Sanchez are pressing on Wenger to do something – we all are!!!!! I don’t know anybody who is not.

If I was a betting man I would say we will either get nobody (more likely), or some desperate (big or small) recruit on 1 Sept (some 3 or 3 weeks after the season started). I am convinced it is an illness. We need somebody who is on this planet.

  4. WENGER:
“Signore Sari, how are we things? How
    are your holidays going?”

SARI:‘Hello Arsene, just stop there. The answer is
    no’

WENGER: “But Maurizio, you don’t even know
    what the question is”

SARI: ‘Arsene, I’m not stupid, the question is the
same question you ask every year and my
answer is the same now as it was before,
    Gonzalo is not for sale’

WENGER: “Non, Non monsieur, you have me all
    wrong, you see….”

SARI: ‘Oh really Arsene, do I?’

WENGER: “Yes, I’m offering €100 million”

    SARI: ‘Oh, well maybe……’

WENGER: “But I want Koulibaly as well”

    SARI: ‘Ohhhh, I see it’s like…..’

WENGER: “Well, when I say €100 million, I mean
    €70 million plus a player”

    SARI: ‘Ohhh, here we go……’

WENGER: “A really good French striker, a
Number 9 who scores, um, well
    regularly”

SARI: ‘€70 million plus Oliver Giroud, well that’s a
    good starting point, Monsieur Wenger’

    SARI: “Non Maurizio, you misunderstand,
    Yaya Sanogo!”

SARI: ‘One final time, F**k off Arsene’

  5. I think ozil is happy at arsenal but waiting to see how this transfer window and next season goes before signing a new contract. Sanchez I am not so sure about.

    1. Ozil has been talking about wanting to play in Turkey and after that in the USA, I don’t think that he meant that while wearing an Arsenal shirt ? So, that doesn’t sound as if he will be extending his contract at Arsenal, to me.

    2. What gives you that impression dude? he’s taking sly digs at Arsene and Giroud on instagram already. Wants to play for Fenerbache some time soon and has just watched his season go up in smoke because OG takes 6 shots to find the target.

  6. For those who think Arsenal has no money or can be outbidded by other clubs in the transfer market. Let me make this known to you. Its either you are ignorant or you underestimate the financial muscle of the club you support. First of all, Arsenal is the second richest club in the England worth over £1.56b without debts. Only Manchester United Worth’s more with over £2.5b(Remember they are in big debt). Now just for last season, Arsenal generated close to £480M which is only bettered by Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich all above £500M in revenue. So Arsenal moved 13 places up
. Yes 13 places up to become the 23rd most valuable sports team in the world and the 5th Richest Club in the world. Since 1996,Arsenal have had a total turnover of over £820M. Only Man u has had more with £880m. Revenue generated is top notch. They have the highest fan base in the world. Second biggest club stadium in England ,best Training facilities in England which matches those of Real Madrid and a stadium of the highest technology. So if you tink Arsenal cannot afford £70m for Higuian, you are a joke. Crystal Palace bid £37m for Basthuayi then why not Arsenal? The fact is that we have the funds. We have the ambition but we are not fast enough. The owner wants to succeed yes, but he’s not as passionate as the Abramovic. When Wenger leaves Arsenal, our situation will be like Manchester United . When Fergie was there. They hardly spend on players but when he left, they brought out all the money. The next Arsenal manager that comes in will have lots of funds to use no doubt. We just need them to be a little bit passionate. That why I want our ex players to run the football aspect of the club. Because they are more passionate. Gazidis ,Korenke, and Wenger has done a magnificent job off the pitch. Well done to them. But we should now show how big Arsenal is. So for you to tell me that Arsenal cant do dis nd dat is a pure lie. that we cant sign a player for 80m is a joke….Good afternoon to you all and have a wonderful week..

    1. Benzorla, i have just looked up the financial accounts for the financial year 2014/15, on arsenal.com, these being the latest full year accounts available.
Page four clearly states that we have debts of £233.9m. How can you therefore make the statement that arsenal are “without debt”?

It is true that we have large cash reserves but they are slightly less than the debt. Profits before tax were £24.7m

            1. A lot of people don’t want the headache of thinking for themselves so they just go with common opinion, you can disprove it till the end of time and they will just mock you for it.

If you make a timeline and put in the ins and outs of staff at Arsenal then it helps in understanding our current situation a bit better… but yet a lot of fans ignore what has happened to our club over the past 20 years. Oh quick to remind how long it has been since we won the EPL but at the same time quick to forget what was happening in the politics of the club.

RvP gets called traitor yet he refused to sign a new contract because it was the only leverage he had to try and push the club to be ambitious… a threat is pointless unless you are willing to go through with it. Will Ozil and Alexis get called a traitor if they don’t resign and get sold because they want us to compete?

Nasri gets called a mercenary because Wenger promised him he wouldn’t be sold in the same window as Cesc and then the board told him he was sold… What was Nasri suppose to do? If you was getting kicked out then wouldn’t you look for the best deal you could get for yourself? Nasri had signed a contract extension before he signed for us so he could help his club get a larger transfer fee… Lets forget the politics though and call Nasri a mercenary for leaving us because it is what the mainstream media says.

      1. Funny! Season 2014/2015, that’s a year before a board member Sir… (hell I forgot his name), said that AW could splashed 200M if he wanted to. Arsenal had flipped the debt in one year?

  7. It must be a real struggle to find
something interesting to say on slow news days but you always do it.

    Thanks!

Anyone who believes that Arsenal would send Giroud and £50miL to Napoli must have missed their meds for the last couple months.

We were not even willing to
outbid Napoli (can’t believe NapoLi outbidded us) when the valuation was around £30-£40miL and Higuain was 3 years younger.

Today!!! Where does all our interest for Higuain stem from???

    1. Its all a Ba-cardi and Coke! ? now icardi is supposedly due in London for talks with Arsenal, next week.

The son of Napoli’s presidents has told the media that Juventus’s interest in Higuain was a Hoax.

Arsenal will now offer Bolton £2.5 million for Rob Holding, I wonder if that improved offer has anything to do with Koscielny refusing to extend his contract? ? ?
You can’t blame Kos, if he is looking for a big payout at this stage of his career, will Wenger make the same mistake as he did with sagna? ? God knows and time will tell if Kos is content with a place on the Munich bench.

      1. Kos contract is believed to run out in 2019, the 2017 date is german media hype repeated by english press. That is how I understand it anyway.

    2. At less we knew now that “Juventus triggered Higuain’s buy out clause” might be another fake news.

  8. Arsenal will not after all media rumours sign Gonzalo Higuain 28 for £80m whose resale value is fast expiring should he becomes a flop if he’s bought. From the Arsenal history, The club’s management hierarchies have been a financially disciplined officials from the time immemorial. And this has become a trend which has become a culture at Arsenal that the current management staff and the manage at Arsenal are following to the letter as they wouldn’t spend the money Arsenal don’t have on buying new players for the club nighter would they indulge into any financial recklessness to avoid Arsenal going into financial bankruptcy.

I’ve said it many times before and I am repeating my saying again on this site that Arsenal should not waste their time, energy and money looking for another marquee striker to sign after the disappointment we’ve suffered with the snubbing of Vardy who had refused our overtures to him. But instead turn their attention to the signing of the versatile forward Hal Robson-Kanu who could turnout to perform incredibly for Arsenal than a Higuain or his like would have performed for us during this coming summer campaign.

    1. WHAT?!!!! Hal Robson Kanu is better than Higuain? Base on what? Euro 2016? I’m not going to laugh at you, just want to explain this :
Did you know? He’s scored only 24 goals in 198 apps for Reading from 2007-2016. Between that years, he’d been loaned twice, to Southend Utd (2008) scored only 5 and to Swindow Town (2009) scored only 4.
Hal Robson Kanu can’t even match his entire goals of his entire career (33 goals) compare to Higuain one single season of 2015/2016 with 36 goals in 35 apps. For your information that 36 goals put Higuain as record breaker of Italian Serie A top scorer ever.
Yo Samuel! Wake up dude, it was “daylight” now…

  9. Arsenal will not after all the media rumours sign Gonzalo Higuain 28 for £80m whose resale value is fast expiring should he becomes a flop if he’s bought. From the Arsenal history, The club’s management hierarchies have been a financially disciplined officials from the time immemorial. And this has become a trend which has become a culture at Arsenal that the current management staff and the manager at Arsenal are following to the letter as they wouldn’t spend the money Arsenal don’t have on buying new players for the club neither would they indulge into any financial recklessness to avoid Arsenal going into financial bankruptcy.

  10. Forwards coming to the PL (but not to us)
    Mktharyan
    Ibrahimovic
    Janssen
    Batshuayi
    Nolito

My understanding is that the following are out of the question for us
    Higuain- fee
    Morata- staying and fee
    Lacazette- fee
Aubemyang- fee and lack of interest
    Lukaku

    Forwards with ? or possibility
    1. Draxler- £50 mil but young and bags of talent
    2. Bacca- affordable but a gamble
    3. Barbosa ”
    4. Icardi ”
    5. Mahrez

At the start of the summer I wanted Aubemeyang and Mktharyan
Wenger wasn’t interested so I changed to Higuain or Lukaku and Draxler or Mahrez
Now I will settler for Icardi and Draxler or Mahrez

I have a feeling we will still be waiting last day of season and will either get nobody or Nabil Fekir and Kokorin or players like that

I hope im wrong and we can be shocked like we were when Ozil and Alexis came and get Higuain, Mahrez or Draxler and a good CB like Murillo, Koulibaly, Hummels, Howedes, Godin

    1. Fekir is under-rated, he didn’t have the best of seasons last season but he was injured for a lot.
The season before he scored 15 goals in 39 appearances, getting young player of the year, Mahrez in his player of the year season scored 18 in 39.

Lacazette benefits from Fekir, it isn’t the only reason but it is part of the reason why Lacazette scored 8 less, Fekir assisted 9 if i think and most of those as to Lacazette.

I am looking forward to the odd french game I watch and see him play again, if he has another fantastic season like he did 2 seasons ago then I wouldn’t be surprised to see a BIG money bid come in for him.
