Ozil is the key to Arsenal winning in Munich

Stats released by Fantasy football game www.oulala.com have revealed a partnership at Arsenal that should have Bayern Munich hiding behind the sofa.

The Bundesliga side welcome Arsenal to the Allianz Arena in the Champions League on Wednesday following Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over the Germans at the Emirates a fortnight ago.

Oulala have taken a look at every goal scored in the Premier League, along with who provided the assist, and have uncovered the best attacking partnerships this season.

Joint top of the illustrious list are Arsenal duo Mesut Özil and Oliver Giroud. The Frenchman has netted four goals in the Premier League this season after being assisted by the German on each occasion.

The only other pair in the Premier League to match the Arsenal duo are Everton’s Arouna Koné and Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has assisted four goals scored by the Ivorian this season.

Eight pairs on Oulala’s list have combined on three occasions.

Mesut Özil is Europe’s top provider with nine assists so it is no surprise to see the German’s name once more. The 27-year-old has set up three of Alexis Sánchez’s six Premier League goals this term.

Notably, high flying Leicester City claim three spots on Oulala’s list with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez at the heart of the action for the Foxes.

Munich have a productive pair themselves in the Bundesliga. Mario Götze has assisted three of Robert Lewandowski’s league goals this season.

Özil and Giroud were the goalscorers in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Munich at the Emirates two weeks ago. Can the in-form duo link up once again to help put Arsenal’s Champions League aspirations back on track?

  1. Bayern have a very strong squad, but i still think we’ll beat them. apart from the west ham game, the only occasions we lost games were when we got outdone by referees and our own defensive mistakes. If we can avoid the defesnsive mistakes, there’s no way bayern are gonna beat us.

  2. We won’t have a lot of the ball tomorrow’ We need to play as a team and fight for each other…

Hopefully, I’ll come here and say Listen up Baby Please, Dude Please, Everyone Please’ We just defeated Bayern Munich again. #HandsCross. #In Arsenal We trust!

    1. “Ozil is a flop, he doesn’t turn up in big matches” – Games Ozil involved in : Win over United, win over Bayern, win over Chelsea (community shield), played all 90mins, won most points in 2015, top assists so far this season. Wenger has turned him into the complete playmaker and at this rate he’ll be twice the player he was at Real.

  3. PFA pLayer of The month……….. ALEXIS “duraceLL” SANCHEZ……..well deserved considering the other options!…. Things have been working well for him since he joined the Arsenal FamiLy!….. 1up

  4. It’s impossible to predict the game (which makes it more fun)

    We could get absolutely mauled
And we’re very capable of creating an upset as well

Whatever the case, I’ll like to see us suffer no injuries and no sending offs. Playing Bayern is hard enough, playing with 10 men is a catastrophe.

  5. If our player’s are half as confident as most of the fan’s on here, then we should beat Bayern Munich 3 -0.

I believe that we have the psychological advantage against Munich and it is them who will be feeling the pressure more,
It would be great if we could score an early goal against them, That would completely demoralise and frustrate them.
The only Munich player I’m worried about is that cheating Robben!
I hope that the Ref is up for this and that he has a good game.

  6. I strongly believe Joel Campbell will make that RW his own. He contributes defensively and only needs confidence going forward, confidence which his goal against Swansea has gotten him. Bayern will be hungry and hopefully careless. We will take some punches(nasty dribbles and long shots) but I trust our defense. Plus we’ve got Çech in the post. They played us at the Emirates the way they woulda played us at the Allianz Arena and we still won. We can do it again. COYG!!!

  7. Ozil in his first season…. ranked in the top 30 footballers from +/- 500 footballers plying their trade in the EPL. In his second season, ranked in the top 12 and currently lying 6th in his 3rd season.
This genius never gets the credit he deserves from pundits who wait like vultures to attack him when he appears out of touch , We have won 2 FA cups since he joined and we cannot deny he contributes immensely to the team cause.
I would rather have a laidback but controlled and calm player like Ozil in this team, than a dashing Sterling he was compared to by that useless pundit Michael Owen.
