Ozil set to sign but Arsenal still discussing wages with Wilshere

As far as I’m concerned I can’t wait to see Alexis Sanchez leave Arsenal, but I would like to see our other two contracts with Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere finalised as quickly as possible, and it looks like both of these are progressing nicely at the moment.

According to the ex-Arsenal striker Alan Smith, Ozil will sign a new contract with the Gunners very soon. “Well my sources tell me he’s quite close to signing a new contract,” Smith said on Sky. “We’ve not heard much on that. It sounds like negotiations are going on behind the scenes and he will sign.”

This will definitely be a boost for us as he has proved much more valuable to Arsenal than Sanchez this season, and also Jack Wilshere has been excellent recently since being nursed back to full fitness.

So Wenger was asked today how close Arsenal are to confirming Wilshere’s future, and he replied: “We know what we want. We want him to stay, we want him to extend [his contract]. He wants to stay. After that, we have to find a satisfying financial agreement with Jack that is good for him. That’s what we’re trying to do.”

I am sure reaching an agreement with Jack won’t be too much of a problem, although Wenger may be pushing it if he tries to persuade Wilshere to accept a pay cut, considering what other players are earning nowadays. But I for one will be very happy to see these two go and we get any replacement for Alexis, any one at all!

  1. If they’re so sure Ozil will sign why not just make sure we get Aubameyang and get a good and established CB alongside a DM… so we’ll just fight it out for the rest of the season, and then we make sure the whole new squad better get ready to fight for the title next season.
I say get our players now, so they’ll gel and they’ll be evaluated at the end of the season..

admin #Bring back the option to thumb up or down!!!
don’t take away everything that made us all fell in love with this site.
I fell in love with Justarsenal when I saw how we fans tend to discuss issues n discuss matches we play, and how people let their feelings known towards your opinion.
believe me Thumbing up n down is part of that

    1. My two cents – thumbing up and down works well 95% of the time but in times like this when almost everyone has their knickers in a twist and want Wenger’s head it’s a bit of a pain because anyone with a dissenting view (even a moderate one like “I’d like to see Wenger leave in the summer but don’t think his head and testicles should be stuck on a pole outside the Emirates) gets thumbed down and their comment disappears. So it can actually stiffle the discussion we all enjoy.

      1. I agree,
people are so fracked up by social
media who invented likes and dislikes cos psychologists told them to do so… introduce it cos this would be addictive – provide more clicks, more money for the media.
They are more interested to get so many likes as possible then to write something interesting.

  2. A lower base salary but with big incentives seems fair given Jack’s injury record. If he stays healthy then he should be one of Arsenal’s top earners.

In a normal window I wouldn’t think there was much behind the Aubameyang rumours but with Minsilat on board I think it has legs. I’m sure Gazidis wants to exert his authority and what better way then to back his new man to seal a big deal. The latest sign that Wenger’s power is waning?

    1. Always missing two players to be able to fight with the best.
Maybe if we really sign Ozil and Wilshere and Aubemeyang and Mhkitarian,
and two more in the summer we will go into next season with our heads held high!
      …and new Manager please.
(uh, all of that sounds too good to realise)

  3. I fully agree with your comments re. Alexis Sanchez and hope the talks don’t break down. I don’t ever want him in an Arsenal shirt again and if he stays Wenger should bench him for the rest of the season.

If we can keep Ozil it would be a huge plus for the club but ‘if wishes were horses beggars would ride’. But you never know!!!

  4. Great! Great!
Although news about Aubemeyang are not so optimistic as yesterday It will be great to have Ozil, Wilshere, Lacazette, Mhkitarian and Aubemaeyang all in the same team!

    1. From Sky Germany official website : “According to information from our Sky Italia colleague Gianluca Di Marzio, Aubameyang joins the Gunners for 60 million euros. Aubameyang is to receive a three-and-a-half-year contract in London and earn ten million euros net.” I trust Sky,although I realise we can still screw up this transfer..

Batman is coming to Arsenal…wohoooo… FINALLY some good news.. ECSTATIC !!!!

  5. Stan Kroenke is stinky
    Arsene Wenger too old
Sale Alexis Iis better beacause He not true Gunner .
    Julian Draxler better signing
Dortmund Hitman best Of the best

  6. I hope Ozil does sign. I must admit he did do my head in a bit earlier…. but when you see what he can do it’s just awesome… I love him! Plus Wilshere is by far the best English player we have… snap him up!!

  7. It’s says one of two things if Ozil signs:

    1) He isn’t ambitious. He’s happy to plod along on easy street under Wenger, knowing he’ll never get subbed, or even shouted at. He, like many others at Arsenal, enjoy life at the club because it’s a no pressure environment.

    2) No decent offers elsewhere. Everyone keeps telling me how great Ozil is, but why is there no one really linked with him? Everyone is desperate for Sanchez, but why isn’t it the same with Ozil?

  8. Ozil is a class player and it’s not like we have them in abundance.Sign Mikki and Abua and play them up top with Laca.Skill pace and desire in all of them.Ozil is at his best when he has technically astute players in front of him which is why he was voted German National Team Player of The Year 5 times in 6 years.Giroud- No movement and pace and only dangerous when attacking balls in the box.Despite what is said his hold up play is awfull and goes to ground like he’s been shot with a Buffalo Gun at the slightest contact.Walcott-Pace but no brain. The stats tell a better picture of a player who was NEVER good or consistent to ever be considered anything other than average at best.Wellbeck-Good pace and effort but little to offer as a goalscorer.Back-up at best. This is what Ozil has had to work with(I have photo shopped Sánchez from my life forever).Give him pace scoring ability and technical awareness in front of him and he will consistently deliver.

  9. Wegner has no problem accepting a new contract and 2million pay rise for failure ,but yet he has a problem paying the players he wants to play for him ,so what is their to like about this dictator.Wegner out .

  10. IF we got Aubemeyang and Mktharyan, then the combination of Ozil, Mktharyan, Aubemeyang and Lacazette would make an impressive attack.
Actually, Ozil, Alexis, Lemar and Lacazette would have made an impressive attack.

But Wenger?will always leave us short. Every season he does this. He will most likely just get Mktharyan to replace Alexis and that’s it. He will rely on Welbeck, Ramsey. He probably won’t even replace Theo and Ox. Our bench will be weaker innit

  11. Hey guys to alot this might sound strange but arsenal should make sure that ozil signs no matter what and then build the team around him in like i said before a 3-5-2 patter in which he will be the best number 10 if not already, with his passing and vision. Not to forget his i for goal and how he just pop up in the smallest pocket of space. Another that will thrive under this system is our goal drought striker which I can only see getting better. I urge arsenal as I love this team to death and back and can’t wait to see them reproduce the soccer people know them to play and yes must and should most definitely be under Wenger as he invested his life into this team not only as loyalty but knowing he can still do the job

  12. No denying that Alexis is a fantastic player. But his playing area kind of overlapped with Ozil’s. Ozil has normally been at his best when other players have focused on being the beneficiaries of his creativity rather than trying to create themselves. May be Ozil will thrive providing to an out and out striker. Ozil and Laca(and/or Mkhitaryan or Auba) might just work wonderfully well.
