Pathetic PSG bid for Arsenal’s Alexis trolled by Shearer

There were some Arsenal transfer rumours yesterday claiming that the super rich French Ligue 1 club were preparing to test the resolve of Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board by making a transfer bid of around £70 million for our Chilean international striker Alexis Sanchez.

The story was that they would also offer the contract rebel a massive pay rise to persuade him to quit the English Premier League and if that was the case I thought it might be curtains for our hopes of keeping Sanchez with the Gunners for the coming season.

However, later reports said that the value of their bid was only going to be about half that amount and as reported by The Mirror, even Alan Shearer who has in the past questioned whether Alexis could be called world class thought that was a laughable small amount.

He tweeted, “£35 million!! Do they just want his left foot?”

So it was hardly a surprise to read a Metro report of Arsene Wenger dismissing the chances of PSG signing his player when asked about the reports after the defeat to Chelsea in Shanghai yesterday.

If that is the best they can come up with then maybe we will have our star striker knocking in goals for the Gunners, for the next nine months at least.

  1. This is what happens when you are not extending contracts earlier. Arsenal is on a disadvantage and have no option than selling Alexis for cheap or lose him for free. It is not about a player quality but the timing and contexts.

    1. I don’t understand your statement about ‘not extending contracts’. For the past year, we have been trying to extend the contracts of Ozil and Sanchez. It has been in the news for so long. The fact that we have not succeeded does not mean that we have not been trying. These guys are two of the best players in the world. Other teams want them as well and they are ambitious too. Extending their contracts was never going to be easy. Ozil came from Real and Sanchez from Barca. It is a miracle they are playing for us because this normally doesn’t happen. Players like these are usually found in Juventus, Bayern, Man u etc. So chill man. Transfer business for top players are hard as nails. Even with a reported bid of 125 million pounds, we cannot get Mbape. That is how hard it is to land the best players when there are bigger teams after them as well.

  2. I will like to have what they are smoking at PSG also, it doesn’t matter how much years Sanchez has left on his contract at Arsenal,we are not desperate to sell cause we don’t need money.. where
as the like or sterling, stones and walker are been sold nothing less than 50mil, Lukaku even went to united nothing less than 75 mil whereas Sanchez left foot is better than Lukaku’s both foot to me, they must be on some cheap high, if not for AFC that has been joking with players contract over the years we won’t be in this situation… Sanchez is worth 100 mil -120 mil in today’s transfer market

    1. Agreed, except on Alexis worth at 100-120 M today. Are you sure you don’t have any what they are smoking at PSG? LOL…

      1. If he 3 remaining years, he would definitely worth around the 90M pounds mark.
That is around 110M euros and about half what Neymar will cost when he finalizes his deal to PSG.

  3. …And i hear the ox wants out…I would rather have isco in place of the ox ……for crying out loud oxlade f***ing chamberlain earns more than isco of Madrid? Just shoot me right now

  4. If Sanchez Eventually stays, then few additions will make us challenge for this title. I want us to get a proper strong, Mobile DM that will protect the back 3 and initiate attack immediately, also i would want us to go all out for Van Dijk and use Chambers as part of the deal to reduce the fee. (Put chambers in a buy-back -clause) for DM i have 3 best options for us William Carvalho, Fabinho(Monaco) and Idrissa Guaye (Everton).
