PER-fectly Delighted with lucky Arsenal win!

The Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker saw the Gunners desperately hang on for all three points in yesterday’s game at Crystal Palace, and although he agrees with Arsene Wenger that Arsenal were lucky, he is simply delighted with the three points!

“At the end they tried to put us some pressure and get some strikers on,” Mertesacker said on the official Arsenal website. “They nearly scored the equaliser so we were a bit lucky at the end. Overall, we are absolutely delighted with the three points and we move on.

“They have pace up front and good headers of the ball too. They nearly scored in the first half and at the end they had quite a few chances.

“Sometimes you lose games, especially at the end. We were lucky today but that was a bit of a warning for us not to switch off too early.

“As I said, I’m absolutely delighted to take the three points.”

Mr BFG was also “delighted” with the support from the away fans, and also for giving them something to cheer about on the road. “Our away support has been absolutely fantastic this season. We’re quite delighted by that as well.” he continued.

“To win for the away fans is special for them, to give them three points and to talk about that success today. “That keeps them going, keeps us going and looking forward to the next match and showing ourselves as a proper unit.”

Well Per, we are also very delighted to move into the Top Four at last, and back on course for the Wenger trophy. Let’s hope we are all even MORE delighted after Wednesday’s game against Monaco!

  1. Im thankful for the win as well, but we did dodged a bullet! Thats football on the hold, but we were gulity of switching off in the end when we should have held our shape and made the win a little more comfortable than a nervous one! Honestly bolassie had no right to even made that long run, to get his cross in that deflected off the post, he should have been closed down before! Something we have to work on.

  2. we allowed pool , i think it was, that drew against us by leveling in the last 5 mins. thats 2 points we lost. and we’ve also lost due to conceding in last 5 mins. bould has really improved us on set pieces – now lets do sth about the last 5 mins!!

  3. We thank God as we took all the 3 points at stake at Selhurst Park yesterday. Whatever lesson the Gunners have learnt from that game should be used to forestall any frailty in their home Champions League game at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday night. The Gunners must be in the ascendancy from the first leg at the Emirates stadium ahead of their going to Stade Louis II to engage The Red and Whites. I am sure the Gunners will not take victory over The Red and Whites for granted as The R&W are a very strong team of the French League I and thats why their in the nock-out stage of the CL. I have put behind me our victory over Crystal Palace and now totally switched my attention to our home CL game on Wed. I believe the Gunners have now outlive the joy of their victory over the Eagles. And are now totally focused on their Wed CL home game. Nonetheless, I expect the boss to give the Gunners a training rest day today after playing a hard game yesterday. However, normal training should resume tomorrow. We shall be discussing more on this our home CL game as time goes on.

  4. Yesterday Ozil held the ball up. A few weeks ago Giroud beat the last man to go through on goal and score.
