Pick your Arsenal team to brush past Doncaster

Arsenal’s second-string side got past Cologne in the Europa League last week, and if anything this Caraboa Cup game at home to Doncaster should be even easier. Cologne may have lost their opening four games in the Bundesliga, but Doncaster are two tiers below us in League One and have won just one game out of their opening eight League games. They did manage to beat Hull City in the last round of this competition but since then they have gone six games without a win. So surely Arsenal can field a much weaker team than even played last week.

Having said that I still expect the Gunners to put out a strong side. As Ospina is set to play all the Europa League games, Wenger could give Macey the place in this Cup. I have a feeling that Jack Wilshere will get his first start for over a year after his run out in the Cologne match as Iwobi played against Chelsea.

I also think this is the perfect chance for Reiss Nelson to get a chance to show his skills and he may play 45 minutes and swap with Alexis at half-time as the Chilean still seems to need more games to get his sharpness back. Walcott and Giroud are certain to play of course.

So here is my team….

Macey
Holding, Mertesacker, Monreal
Elneny, Wilshere, Reine-Adelaide, Maitland-Niles
Walcott, Giroud, Nelson

Surely this should be more than powerful enough to take out lowly Doncaster at the Emirates?

Who would you pick?

Admin Looks good to me, who would you have on the bench in case of disaster?

what about fatty Sanchez he could do with a full game we don’t play EPL until Monday the 25th at home to WBA, i feel that Arsenal are better team if we play regular because of our way of playing ( Tiki-taka) or trying to 🙂

    Macey
    Holding, Mertesacker, Monreal
    Elneny, Wilshere, Reine-Adelaide, Maitland-Niles
    Walcott, Giroud, Nelson

Elneny at wingback? I cant see that happening.

Our lack of cover in the fullback/wingback position should be a serious concern.
We have Monreal and Kolasinac on the left but at the moment both are starters when Monreal starts at LCB, they cant be expected to play every game? What happens if one of them gets injured?
Even more concerning, on the right, we basically only have Bellerin?

Maitland-niles has clearly been lined up as first choice cover for RB/LB judging by the fact he started in the Europa and Debuchy didn’t. Although I suspect if the tank is out monreal will switch out to LB with a CB coming in.

When one gets injured a CB will come into back three then Kol or Mon taking wingback.

    Ospina
    Chambers Mertesacker Holding
    Debuchy Elneny Wilshere Niles
    Adelaide Nelson
    Walcott

I feel Chambers and Debuchy should be given a chance to redeem themselves in Wengers eyes in a competition he never takes seriously. Holding could do with a confidence boost and also we could give Adelaide as well as Reis Nelson a chance to shine .

that’s a line up for disaster,

too many youngsters and not enough regular senior players, we have made this mistake before where we was punished and looked stupid in front of the whole world,

i agree that they should all get a chance to play but not all in the same game, they will have their chances what with EUROPA league cup group stages plus early stages of FA Cup and not forgetting this EFL Cup

    Ok so Plonkaster may be
19th in the third tier and
    their entire squad may be
    worth half of Debuchy’s salary
but let us beware Donnie’s rovers.
The “Plonk” have bought up 45,000 tickets
off ebay uk and will roar their heroes on.
We must play our strongest 1X

    Piers Morgan
Boris Johnson Sam Allardyce Prince Harry Moeen Ali
Tyson Fury Jack Charlton Joey Barton Louis Hamilton.

The goal isn’t to pick the worst team that. An still get a result-

The goal is to pick the best team that doesn’t threaten our EPL games!

    Chambers – Elneny – Wiltshire – Iwobi

Sanchez (apart from great goal he had lots poor passes. Needs game time)
Lacazette (he needs a couple goals to get into the groove)

Why are people suggesting Bielik? He’s out injured and won’t be available until December.
Hopefully Wenger will give a few youngsters a game. Chambers, Holding, Niles and Nelson. Jeff should also play if fit. One or two from Willock, Akpom, Mcguane, Dasilva and Nketiah should be subs and come on for the final 20 minutes if we are 2 or 3 up by that time.
