Portugal v Iceland Euro 2016 preview – The Arsenal targets to watch

Portugal kick off against Iceland in their opening group game in Saint Etienne in about half an hour, and we thought we’d give you some players to keep tabs on.

The Seleccao come into the match on the back of a confidence boosting 7-0 win over Estonia, in which four different players got onto the scoresheet. Their opponents also come into tonight having bullied their previous match-up, beating lowly Lichtenstein 4-0 last week, with four different goalscorers also.

Cristiano Ronaldo will no doubt be the man to watch tonight. If you check the Portugal v Iceland game odds at 888Sport, I cant help but be amazed at the offer of 7/1 on him to get on the scoresheet! As much as we would love to sign him, the likelihood of that is rather far-fetched, but two of our targets are likely to be on show this evening.

Left-back Raphael Guerreiro has been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months, and with Kieran Gibbs likely to leave the club this summer, his signature would not prove to be a shock. We are also linked with Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell but if Guerreiro was to impress in the tournament, he could come the the fore of Arsene’s thoughts.

Another one of the players linked with a move to North-London is Danilo Pereira, who is also in the Portugal squad. The holding midfield star is a regular in the Porto first-team, but his possible move to our club this summer must look unlikely following the arrival of Granit Xhaka already this summer. Of course we are still linked with further additions at the base of the midfield, having allowed both Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini to leave already, and their could still be room for more CM additions.

Let us know below if you think we should sign either target, or maybe you will spot another player we should be looking at.

I’ve given up watching for rumoured players that Arsenal are interested in, I’m just going to enjoy the matches.

I’m really hoping Iceland can get at least a draw tonight, a win would be great. I want t see Ronaldo go into one of his hissy fits (plus he’s already tried one dive in the first 15 minutes), and after watching Pepes’ disgusting antics in the CL final he deserves nothing but failure.

Halldorsson the Icelandic keeper is deadly…Would be kool to go for him if Ospina leaves…

offside: why are we not linked to Subotic yet? he is one of the world’s best CBs, still only 27 with lots of UCL experience.
