Ramsey tells Arsenal fans to keep calm

The Wales international midfielder Aaron Ramsey is not too worried about Arsenal’s opening day loss to West Ham, and has appealed to Arsenal fans to ignore the Premier League table until a quarter of the season has passed, to make a more realistic assessment of how our season is going.

“So many things can happen in the league,” he said on Arsenal.com. “My view is to look at the table after 10 games and then see where everyone is then. So many things can happen.

“Hopefully that will be our only upset, the one at the beginning of the season, and if we go on a winning run to win our next five or six games, then maybe we’ll be there or thereabouts again. It’s important to just concentrate on what we can do.

“You can’t take too much into how the table’s looking so far. Teams are going to have upsets and hopefully the opening-day upset will be our only one for a long time.

“We’re happy with the win before the international break, and now I have a big week for Wales.”

Surely we all remember, as Ramsey will, losing to Aston Villa a couple of years ago in the first game, and we quickly caught up with the front runners. We may not have ended up on top but we were in the hunt for most of the season. Are we all jumping the gun by panicking too early?

    1. yeah, im just like sitting front of sky sports whole day… if we do sign a class player it would be a very big surprise, because there arent any news about Arsenal transfers for a while now.. its really really quiet now.. were planning something big? i really hope se, but im afraid a superstar signig cannot be done in a day, or they just hiding it perfectly? i REALLY REALLY hope we add special player(s) today…COYG!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. @Red14, silent before the storm may be, who knows?? After watching how Gomis make manures defence looks like kids, he just proves we must sign a striker to succeed. LUKAKU? Austin? Anyone?

      2. The next 3 fixtures after international break is really tough for City:
        – Sept 12: away vs Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Alan Pardew’s factor may take points from them, ask Chelsea.
        – Sept 16: home vs Juventus. City will deploy all their resources to win this critical first CL tough game. I bet they will win but, it consumes City players’ energy a lot.
        – Sept 19: home vs Westham. Slaven Bilić will be more than happy to face City under this situation: an offensive but tiring City is perfect for Wetham.

I predict, City will loose 2, 3 or even 5 points by facing Crystal Palace and Westham under these tough fixtures.
To sum up, this is a good chance for Arsenal to close the gap to City. And I am optimistic that we will be level to City at this point. Also, the best chance to laugh at Mourinho right at his home 🙂

Dear Admin, please do not post ur comments and use them to conceal my replies to insulting comments directed at me. An insult is an insult. For someone to say I’m not as smart as the folks I reply to, that’s no praise. In the first place, I’ve been countlessly abused here and I never saw ur comment shoving their’s aside as moderation.

Also, please if u (anyone here) can’t take in hard words, don’t throw them. I don’t give a f***k what anybody thinks of my opinion, becuz they are simply my opinions, not yours. I won’t insult or abuse anyone, but I may if I can’t take what u throw at me.

      1. If I am online (which is most of the time) I will always try to nip insults in the bud. When I see people totally ignoring a thread of discussion to degenerate into straight insults I will ALWAYS delete those comments, evn if I find them hours later. We are here to talk about Arsenal Football Club, and should be able to without being insulted by people who disagree with your opinion, or forcing others to read those same insults….

END OF DISCUSSION. Back to the football please….

        1. How come in the previous thread u saw only my reply and not what warranted it? Did u not read whEre @Tope said all he sees are my comments and that I’m not as smart as the persons I reply to??? Does this have something to do with the fact that I often outrightly do say how stupid and clueless Wenger is and somehow it offends people who think he’s Jesus? The way u sound, Admin, I think u too have something quite personal with my opinions becuz u sadly fail to notice what got me very direct in my reply to @Tope. By the way, I too think I know where u stand with Wenger, but I’m not bothered so my stand should not bother u or anyone else.

          1. I have no problem whatsoever about ANYONE’s opinion and you yourself know I will publish anyone’s opinion whether I agree with them or not. This site is called JustArsenal not JustArsene.
BUT I have a problem when I see small digs escalating into a warzone. This website is NOT for discussing anything but football in a sensible and polite manner.

And you have made me break my promise. This is DEFINITELY the last post in this discussion. If you want to take anything further do it by email….

            1. Well, Admin, no matter what happens, I still think u are the best. I hold nothing in my mind against anyone, not even Arsene (lol! How’s that possible). No abuses, I somehow must promise (I’m human, can’t wholly promise).

          2. Your double standards are breathtaking in their arrogance! So it’s all right for you to “say how stupid and clueless Wenger is” but if someone says something similar to you then you go whining to Admin! Pathetic! Go home and tell your mummy about the naughty boys on this forum.

  1. How on earth an Arsenal fan can keep calm !
Instead go and tell your manager we are desperate for new quality striker …

    1. IF you can recommend some top quality strikers which are AVAILABLE… at even this time, we all will be very grateful to you.

    2. @ Tope and Lethal prince 9………. This is how far ur manager has brought us….. I feared and forsaw it would come to this…… Were they not gettable strikers available at the start of the window? ENJOY THE PANIC! LooooooooooooooooooL

    3. @ Lethal Prince 9 and Tope … instead of picking me to name so-called AVAILABLE strikers, you go and ask Wenger why it is always like this …
What is the point of me providing a list of strikers?
at this moment we are desperate for any upgrade above Giroud and Wallcot, is it a difficult task?

      1. The point of you providing the strikers list is that you are proving your point true by providing examples. That’swhy it makes sense, doesn’t it?

    4. @ Tope and Lethal prince 9……… Sam only needs a striker……. Now break it up….. Back to ur hood boys

  2. Right now only Man City
    stand between Arsenal
    and the title. And that’s
with Walcott Ox + Sanchez yet to hit form.
And that also without the expected two new signings.
So yes the reaction to the West Ham
    loss has lingered too long.
Also people have got too wound up over the late
transfer moves. This is just normal business practice.
The team is now in 4th=
after taking 7 from the last 9.
So overall it has been a good start.
A couple of decent signings and it will
have been a very good start.

    1. Think about what you are saying for a bit. You are only a little more relaxed because man united liverpool and chelsea are dropping points. So technicaally you are hoping they give us the league. I am concerned because we should put away games that must be put away but we arent, that and we arent scoring any goals. Recap to the CP game we got shaky at the end trying to hold on, we were desparately lucky against liverpool, and we barely beat a 10 man Newcastle for crying out loud. How can I keep calm?

      1. That’s a bit harsh. They played some wonderful stuff at Crystal Palace, had a good goal disallowed against Liverpool, and I admit it was an incredibly frustrating game to watch against Toon but I don’t agree we just scraped past.

Don’t the pundits always say it’s good to win despite not playing well? This team has shown us last season how they can perform. In a short while I think we will see things start to click.

Also remember how many times in the past a seemingly insurmountable lead has been clawed back to win the Premiership (I recall Newcastle being 12 points ahead at one stage in the 90’s).

    2. I don’t think we will have a single decent signing before tomorrow’s deadline comes and goes.

I now hope for Welbeck and Wilshire to return and stay fit. That’s the best I can hope for and given Wilshire’s injury record it is probably not even a realistic hope.

What the Newcastle game showed me is that Ramsey is not a great deputy for Ozil in the nr 10 slot. Maybe Wilshire would be better or maybe Santi would have been better. But Santi seems to have formed a good partnership playing deeper with Coq breaking that up would be a pity.

  3. After the results of this weekend where all our competitors dropped points with exception of Man City, I think most of us have moved on from the Westham loss. If anything, folks just cannot believe we have not signed more players. That’s all. We are sixth after four games and Chelsea is 13th or so. I can’t complain too much.

    1. And if that Liverpool goal would have stood, we would have been at third position maybe… Still mad at linesman.

      1. I’m mad at Liverpool and their time wasting in a 0-0 affair. It clearly showed that they only wanted to defend 2nd half. Is this what the league has come to? Even top sides want to park away from home.

  4. we are good to go at back. need one more DM to relieve le coq of the work load and a striker. the league is becoming tough which u like – no more work over. we just need that extra body, Lady luck in our side in the injury front and referee decision – against Liverpool and we will surely contend with the best.

  5. names please. we all know we need good strikers but I am yet to see a striker in the class of aguero, lewa, or Suarez move.

    1. Sam …
Actually I am no lamppost and no headless chicken by any mean …
So basically I am better than what we have …
Seriously, stop this silly question of who is out there, it is not your job neither is our job to identify good striker …

  6. Blah Blah Blah

Anyone who thinks we are going to blow the transfer window to pieces with a HUGE signing is kidding themselves.

Wenger won’t sign anyone – he is clearly happy with a squad of players that everyone but Wenger can see is not good enough..

  7. LVG tactics this year…

Won’t play David De Gea instead of Romero for even one game?
Will bring Fellaini(a central midfielder) upfront to support Rooney and not a world class striker

Ohhhh! But If Wenger does the same he will be called naive,arrogant,idiot,non-ambitious,etc…

    1. How about this :
LVG is a naive, arrogant, idiot, non-ambitious manger so is Wenger …

    2. LVG has been managing Man utd for two years now, but Wenger has been managing Arsenal for two decades and people has been seeing th same mistake from wenger for the past 10 years doing the same thing. How many years has it been when so many people say Arsenal need striker, since RVP left but still you don’t see WC striker at Arsenal. So I think thats why people are more gives stronger opinion about Wenger.

  8. @soopal, names please. we all know we need good strikers but I am yet to see a striker in the class of aguero, lewa, or Suarez move.

    1. There is a lack of top class strikers no doubt. But the names you have put forward like aguero suarez and lewandowski were also promising talent once upon a time.Liverpool bought suarez from ajax for 20 mills something, they took a risk on buying an upcoming prospect and he turned into a world class striker.Same with aguero and lewandowski at their respective clubs.Tommorow if a 20 something old starts banging in goals for some club i don’t think arsenal would have the guts to take a gamble on such player.I remember draxler being linked to us last summer. No matter if he isn’t performing well now he could have been a different player for us.We cant compete with likes of barca and madrid and city fine but at least buy these young players, they don’t come cheap but some of them might actually turn world class. As for strikers who are available now i think only cavani is the realistic one and he is better than giroud for sure.

  9. We should focus on winning our games and stop hoping for small teams to beat our rivals wen we drop point. We are optimistic that our season will get better but i’m sure man u, liverpool and chelsea will get into their rhythm soon as well.

  10. Come on Arsenal where are the transfer rumors,it sounds crazy and funny that Arsenal are not rumored of signing anything…come on Arsene,i know it’s a prank, you are just kidding!!

    1. Let me do the favour please..

Riyad Mahrez currently playing for Leicester City, a versatile winger, can play a striker too, scored 4 goals in 4 games. Was a big part of Leicester rising up from relegation. And just only for 5million?

      What say?

      1. He has done very very little (if anything at all) to suggest that he can be an upgrade to what we have.
Still, I like your outside-the-box thoughts though. But we are not a “4th place team” anymore (or at least we shouldn’t be).

        1. I would rather go for Yarmolenko! Free next summer, available for sure, been in good form. He’s deadly, tricky, good shot and he’s got pace. Oh and he’s almost the same height with Giroud so surely he can “hold up play” hehe.

          1. Yarmolenko isn’t “world-class” but still…

He is very quick and triiiicky, but I am not too concerned with that.

What impresses me is his energy and vibe and he has qualities that this team can use. He has got a good short back-lift on his shots (a bit like Podolski) which are often accurate and dangerous for a finish. He is a proven performer and there are good enough reasons (stats)to suggest that he can be an upgrade on Ox or Welbeck at least this season.
If he is by any means available, I’ll prefer he becomes our final fall-back option.

            #MoneyIsn’tOurProblem.

        2. 5 mill sounds like a good bargain deal. But remember, both Arsene Wenger and AFC board member Lord Harris have comfirmed this season that money isn’t a problem for us anymore.

    2. @GonnerTillD.
With the risk of sounding overly-optimistic and delusional, I’ll say it is good sign there aren’t any rumours linking us to any target as this is the type of environment/space wenger likes to work in. Last 2 days of window with little or no rumours is a perfect recipe -it can either produce you an Ozil or a Kallstrom.

  11. I am yet to see anyone here who believe we don’t need a striker but cry babies tend to act like they are the only one who see it. if you try to be rational then they call you names. they are now refer to arsene as ‘your manager’. yes the manager of my beloved club is n manager but if you think otherwise, then bounce off. the blues need more fans. please join them.

    1. No, you go join WBA or even LeicesterCity, they are actually doing good above the relegation zone ….

  12. @Aaron Ramsey.

I am trying to keep calm but.. I can remember clearly a certain commenter on here kept talking about “a loud bang from the Emirates” as the sound of Wenger’s purse closing for the summer after the signing of Petr Cech. This was very early in the transfer window, so his pronouncements was often ignored. Don’t know if that dude still around here but… how true his pronouncement will be if we don’t sign anyone of note by tommorow evening!

If it is by any means possible, I will take Lacazette in a heartbeat. He may be “gamble” (borrowing Wenger’s word) alright, but a far more sensible gamble than Danny Welbeck or Yaya Sanogo. Wenger says money isn’t the problem for us (isn’t that obvious?), so I hope we push for him even if it means we bamboozle Lyon with a late offer they can’t reject. We have the f***ing money!!. Lool.

By the way, someone said he did not feature for Lyon over the weekend. Any truth in that? If so, what was the reason given? Dodgy reasons? If it is by any means transfer-related, then I will shift my focus to Lyon to see what we can get from there directly on indirectly.

At this stage, Icardi (don’t rate him much) or Yarmolenko (not ‘world-class” but still..) will save me the impending disappointment. A Kallstromisque or Welbeckesque buy will kill me (and I’ll be reborn a Wenger-out enthusiasts)!

  13. if we dont sign anyone else its time for Campbell to step up cause sanchez will have to be rested at some point

  15. Thank you for the wonderful moments Sir, though it has been clouded by gloomy days all the way. we shall remain to love you if peacefully you can let be our team, it is hightime to leave.
please go Arsene Wenger, we’re only asking you to leave honourably coz no one is gonna sack you in that freaking board.

  16. It being quiet on the transfer front might mean Arsenal have wrapped uptheir business and not revealed it yet.

The Arsene Wenger of the 1990’s waited until he had multiple players before lining them up together holding their shirt. He did not reveal players on their own until Thierry Henry and then Sol Campbell.

Remembering this old way Wenger liked doing transfers helps me be optimistic about a striker.

I also want a winger so we are not short when Walcott and Chamberlain are out injured for 90% of the season. I find having no right sided winger scoring goals or setting them up through the season leaves a big void. Players covering for Walcott and Chamberlain are out of position, despite Ramsey playing exceptionally well there against the Magpies.
