Ron Vlaar ready to move on (to Arsenal?)

Since Arsene Wenger admitted at the AGM that he was in the market for a defender in January, there have been many Arsenal transfer rumours linking us with centre-backs, one of which is Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar.

The Dutchman is in the last season of his contract at Villa Park, and it seems that Villa have not made an approach to renew his contract yet, which seems to please the player and his agent.

Vlaar’s agent, Arnold Oosterveer, said in the Mirror: “It is obvious that for Ron, now is the moment to make a nice big move in his career. Ron is very ambitious.

“The situation is ideal for Ron right now. You can imagine that we are not in a hurry. I don’t want to react to the rumour that he will move to either Arsenal or Man United, but Ron is very ambitious.”

Right now I am sure Arsenal fans would accept ANY sort of defensive backup for the rest of the season, but there is no doubt that Vlaar has extensive experience in the Premier League and for the Dutch national side.

I am sure he will appeal to Arsene Wenger as he will be available on the cheap, but do Arsenal fans think he is good enough to be a Gooner?

    1. HAVE FAITH one of wengers top scouts was seen in Munich….the beer festival is expecting a good turn out this year

    2. He’s really really bad, witnessed him vs Mexico last night in the stands, got injured again but wasn’t doing too good vs Vela and Hernandez the time he played.

      1. Yeah, I got one down-thumb. Things, Diaby really wants to play football, he really loves playing and he seems a very smart guy on the pitch, but injuries won’t let him be. As a matter of fact, his career now seems very threatened and this might spell the end, just like King’s case. What I’m saying is that it takes serious mental strength to cope with such disappoints.

  1. One thing I like about this Vlaar guy is his physique. We need more players in our club with those physical attributes that tell opponents. It’s been a long time coming!

  2. And where is Aston Villa currently standing? So if we set on Vlaar, then we can forget Hummels???? Typical Arsenal way of doing business.

  3. hummels vlaar all these names we wont get.
wenger is thinking outside the box –

he scouts the tunisian tampon league
the new zealand nappy rash division.
    the phillipino premier punani league

  4. I’m quite impressed that Wengers poor management has not resulted in violence.

In RSA when people want things done, they fling poop to make a statement.
    True story

  5. Definitely not what we need, but then we all know what we need, but wenger magically doesn’t…Wait for the “there was no one available excuses in Jan

  6. I fear working for last 10years under intense pressure has cracked Wenger. It’s ironic actually that guardiola took a 1yr break after barcelona job.
I think Wenger has got a need to prove himself right all the time. All this noise about monreal not a CB,wenger may yet still play him there just to prove a point.

  7. Klopp on Arsenal short list 😀 😀 this makes me happy..best thing could be he brings Reus with him 😀

  8. Wenger has just killed Arsenal, becoz he’s stubborn n most importantly arrogant and full of himself.. I wud tek the Vhula/Vlaar,, coz any backup now that’s not Monreal will settle my nerve, then we see how it goes.. The sight of Monreal lining up besides BFG meks me wet in my pants even if we playing Biolog or Roto Volg….

  9. He is a rubbish player. He is Championship quality. AV fans would be glad to get rid of him. Trust me on this.
