Sagna admits to struggling for form at Arsenal

There has been a lot of talk about the possibility of Bacary Sagna leaving Arsenal at the end of the season. Since he returned from his injury lay off in October, the 29-year old right back has not rediscovered the form that made Arsene Wenger describe him as the best right back in the Premier league.

After a few games, Gooners started to think that his heart was not in it. With talks about a new contract remaining unresolved, it seemed as if the French international had decided to move on, with PSG being linked with a move for him. The strange thing is, that Wenger would keep selecting him over Carl Jenkinson if he wasn’t giving his all. Sagna spoke yesterday about his form, and admitted his frustration at not playing well, but declared that he was trying his best.

“I’m not very happy with myself, but it’s football. It’s a part where I need to get better. I’ve been working since last summer, but I need to work more because I’ve been out a long time.

“I didn’t really have a pre-season but at a high level you don’t have time to breathe. You have a game every three days and have to keep coming. I’m looking forward to coming back to my best.

“It’s a bit of everything. When you don’t perform as you used to when you’ve been injured so long, you need your confidence back. That’s been a bit low recently.

“I’m a professional so I know it can happen, but not for too long. Everyone is waiting for me to perform well, so I’m looking forward to doing it.”

So it is clear that Wenger is sticking with Sagna, giving him chance to find some form, or a spark that will kick him off. He did the same with Aaron Ramsey, and it drove the Arsenal fans crazy, but Le Prof was proved right in the end. He obviously thinks Sagna is trying hard or he would not play him. Let’s just hope that Sagna gets his groove back as soon as possible.

I don’t think that he should play as an emergency centre back, because his lack of confidence could lead to mistakes that would hurt Arsenal and further damage his return to form. One good performance from him, and we could have the old Sagna back.

Sagna, much like Torres, has lost his pace. This means it’s going to be very hard to rediscover his old form, unless he adapts and changes his style of play. I think our best bet is to sell Sagna in the summer and sign a great rb to replace him. I’m sorry but Jenkinson doesn’t have the technical quality to be a top right back, which is why I think he will only ever be a very good second choice at Arsenal.

Sagna had cost us a lot of goals this season. If he doesn’t improve we should sell him and buy a new one

Sagna stop struhggling and Show your Colours.. Remember the young lads in the CLUB will not learn from a STRUGGLING EXPERIENCE PLAYER. Keep the faith UP.

Yes, he has had a serious leg break. Look at Eduardo and Ramsey. Both lost their A game. Sagna has come back better than those 2 and will regain full fitness I’m sure.

Here’s a thought. Why not rotate sag and jenk. A game each or a half each. With both knowing they are on show they will perform to their highest

The guy has been top notch his whole career at arsenal! He broke his leg twice within a year, he comes back and has struggled to regain form, that’s understandable, but what I don’t understand is the FICKLE attitude of some of you so called fans, calling for his head, you’re pathetic.

He’s just going through a dip of form. Ive been disgusted to see some fans calling for him to sold a few weeks back he’s having a dip in form and its taken him the best part of 6 years to do so.

He’s been our most reliable player and best right back in the league for the last 4 years.

Great to see Sagna perform better yesterday in centre of defence,I must admit I have been critical of him in the last few month but maybe he can do a job for us yet maybe in a more defensive position like yesterday where there is less running or by rotation. He has experience and if we can use him properly then he could have another 2 or 3 years with us easily.
