Should Arsenal copy Germany and pick Draxler over Gotze?

The number of Arsenal transfer rumours linking us with a possible summer swoop for the Bayern Munich and Germany international midfield er Mario Gotze has been growing in recent weeks, with reports from Germany suggesting that he is being eased out of the door by the German champions.

So this Euro 2016 tournament offered the attacking player a great chance to enhance his reputation after a season of injury problems and poor form for his club. That has not really happened, though, especially when the Germany coach Joachim Low has opted to use him as a false 9 instead of an accepted striker.

And his tournament took a worse turn today as he was left out of the starting line up for the knockout game against Slovakia, only to see Germany put on their best attacking display so far, with the former Arsenal transfer target Julian Draxler taking most of the plaudits thanks to an assists, a goal and his all round game.

So if the rumours are true about Arsene Wenger thinking about Gotze, should he look more closely at Germany and decide that Draxler is the better option? Metro is reporting that Jose Mourinho thinks he could get Draxler for about £30 million if Man United fail to get Mkhitaryan and if he can do it why can’t we?

What do you think Gooners?

get a striker first. As for Draxler v. Gotze, Draxler has a bad injury record, immensely talented. Gotze just doesn’t play club football as often as he should. At Arsenal he would start and I think we’d see him excel again. I think Gotze is capable of regaining his Dortmund form.

Who would he start instead of? He’s an attacking midfielder – would you bench Özil for him?

And he can be moulded into a striker, he has the skill and confidence to be one.

Either one would be great 😂 I’m not fussy when it comes to fantasy football manager.

Anyways, Lukaku is keen on coming to Arsenal but Wenger is too busy baulking at Everton’s valuation of £50 million.

I have said before that I would prefer Draxler…
Draxker has world class talents already..

If its about injuries, they are both injury prone, but Draxler is hard for any defence to cope with, with his dribbling and confidence on the ball…

Gotze to me,looks timid, cool and we have many of them with us already…
When you imagine Draxler and Sanchez on the wings with a striker like Lukaku/Icardi/Laca..that’s devastating!

I would love to get Draxler, I really feel like he could be converted into a world class striker, he has pace, dribbling ability, a hell of a shot and height, I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t succeed.

How can you pick someone who doesn’t want to play for the club. According to reports Shalke accepted Wenger’s bid when he tried to sign him a couple of years ago and he turned us down to play for Wolfsburg because he prefers to stay in Germany. I can’t see Wenger going in for him again. Can’t expect him to try and sign someone who has already publicly snubbed the club.
