Squad Management is Key for Arsenal this Xmas

Squad management is so important to survive Christmas games storm.‏ by KM

Hello everyone. Still enjoying that win vs Olympiacos? I know I am, because we returned from the abyss. Aston Villa are next though and they either put points on the board or else! They managed a draw with Man City which is a warning despite the fact City are terrible of late.

After the game in Greece, Theo said that we cannot afford to underestimate the teams we play and my god how many years in a row, we’ve done just that, but maybe this comeback will be a springboard for change? We have a good chance to pounce that top spot if Leicester fails to beat Chelsea. Then we welcome Man City and it could be the title decider in disguise. The problem we have again as ever are injuries.

How we manage the squad will be crucial. Ozil might have a problem. He is so influential for our game, we will really need him for City. We risked him against Olympiacos and it worked, but against Aston Villa? I would give him a rest and slot Chambo in the side next to Flamini moving Ramsey in the number 10 slot.

But that’s just me. Wenger rarely makes changes when the system works and you when results go your way, you can hardly disagree. The problem is that games start flying in now and it’s a tricky December and January coming up.

A few players have come in and done a job in the absence of some key figures. One has been Joel Campbell who can dribble past a player, hold up the ball and works in defence. Matthieu Flamini has also entered the frame and he’s been okay, although I still feel a Wanyama will give us a serious boost.

Wenger said that he “rates” the big guy, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be in for him. If we survive Christmas in touching distance of the top, we might have Le Coq and Jack back which will give us some options. Alexis might return before Christmas and he’ll be a massive lift. (He will be back! – Admin)

Overall this season sees all big clubs in the situation in which Arsenal usually is every year – inconsistent. Chelsea ran away with the title last year, because this was happening again to the other teams, and they were just solid. Their titanic skyfall though means that this year, we could see a champion with the least amount of points in recent times.

Interesting times are coming up. Have a sublime Arsenal weekend!

  1. We must buy one or two quality players in January. So far, I think we’ve been quite lucky, having suffered injury to almost every key player.

PS: Send all our English players to Chile, let the Chile national team physio handle them.

  2. guys lets stop moaning about injuries every big teams has had its fair share of injuries(man c, man u,pool) except fo leceister…..so lets concentrate w wat we n win e league injuries are part of the game…..coyg

    1. What are you saying??? No club suffers injury as much as Arsenal, and the most disturbing thing about ours is that we don’t even have good replacements (poor bench).

  3. “I would give him a rest and slot Chambo in the side next to Flamini moving Ramsey in the number 10 slot.”

For a moment I thought Chambo referred to Oxlade Chamberlain and was about to tongue lash you for that bad tactic.

Yes, Ozil should be rested for tomorrow. Ramsey can do the job in his place. I don’t think Wenger will rest him though…
