Summer transfers to assure key Arsenal star commits future

Arsenal are growing assured that the recent summer signings will have convinced Mesut Ozil to commit his future to the club.

The German international was believed to have entered into talks over a new contract toward the back-end of last season, before stalling amidst uncertainty on the club’s ambition.

Since that point, Arsenal have moved to bring in around £90 Million worth of talent, including fellow World Cup winner Shkodran Mustafi, Bundesliga star Granit Xhaka, and a record-matching goalscorer in Lucas Perez.

The Gunners are now convinced that their latest dealings, especially the £30+ Million signing of his international counterpart, will highlight the club’s intentions, and assure him that his ambition is matched with ours.

The playmaker was integral to our attacking play last season, creating an astonishing amount of goalscoring opportunities, and with only two years remaining on his contract, there is little surprise that our club would be eager to extend his deal in the near future.

Ozil is believed to have played a key role in persuading the former Valencia defender to make the switch to the Emirates, and the pair will be talking heavily about life in North-London whilst on international duty together.

The new Arsenal centre-back has already given us an injury scare, having gone down in the first-half of his international match, but was able to complete the match, and no lay-off is expected because of it.

Many reports have insisted that Ozil has been considering leaving our club, and rumours that he has been unhappy with X, Y and Z, but Mesut has repeated on a number of occasions that he is happy being a Gunner.

Would Ozil have signed a new contract this season anyway, or will Mustafi have just reassured him that we still have the ambition to do big things?

  1. Ozil contract extension is very imp as it will help us in securing Sanchez next window. They are WC player not only they will help us in winning matches but they will also be helping us in signing new WC players next season when we might have new manager. To sign good manager we need these two guys.

    1. I read today, it might be bs, but anyway I read that Alexis wants a buy out clause in his contract before he signs. If true I think this is a stalling tactic, if he goes into the last season then we’ll have to sell him. We have never given a buy out to my recollection. It would be too dangerous to have a buy out these days, it doesn’t look like the market will ease down it looks more like it will get worse/higher from here on out. I think Ozil will sign, he advised players to join Arsenal, Mustafi for sure, he also advised German players to join English teams in general, also Gundagon to city, so I think he’s definitely going to sign. Also he’s been recognised as the best play maker in the world, well from English speaking people he is. Alexis I’m more worried about, he still doesn’t speak the lingo, he’s always on his own and his best friend is a dog. Once he’s happy that’s all that matters, each to his own and all that.

    1. Samtz, I’m sure Joel would just love that one. I’m sure Joel’s one of those players who would sacrifice his own wants for the betterment of our club ..all right ..yeah sure!

  2. That is the thinking Pat. We certainly hope Ozil and Sanchez commit their futures to our club. If nothing else, Wenger has done enough in this window to calm their nerves. It is hard for any player in this current arsenal team to look around the pitch on any given day and feel like he is surrounded by passengers. We are strong all over the pitch and so is our bench. Good times ahead.

  3. John cross writes an article in the mirror titled “Arsenal hope Shkodran Mustafi signing will persuade Mesut Ozil to commit future with Gunners”.

The Daily Star then picks up this article and reports it as Arsenal are confident ….. etc. It is normal paper talk, no substance.

Of course the new signings will help persuade Ozil and Sanchez to stay but may not be enough.

The question is, why were these positions not filled a year ago, the need was obvious and the money was available. The suspicion is that with the new managers and new signings at other top clubs, our new signingd were needed to get top four.

Anyway we have made the signings and things look good, lets enjoy the season.

  4. where people might take a strong dose of reassurance regarding ozil and Sanchez extending their contracts, possibly its motivated and essential because of the inflation for players that are being sold to English clubs, making it much harder to stay in the top four. I know pundits, columnist especially from the daily mail will write anything about arsenal when come to summer transfers or transfers in general, but they might have a point; hence the reason john cross can only confirm the remaining ozil contract left to expire, presumed; extended because ozil and our last official signing are international team mates. if the inflation of players from abroad and English players are being sold to other teams in there respective leagues at a premium rate or even loaned Is probably the only reason AW and the board have had to spend, I know it seems obvious but money is something that is spoke about at arsenal and rarely ever spent, they have had to turn the pressure valve.

  5. Several things will help him stay but the two important keys are:
    1. Salary increase
    2. Winning Trophies
We should have a really good defense this season
    Bellerin, Monreal, Koscielny, Mustafi
    I think Must
