Sweet strike and new contract great news for Arsenal and Walcott

It appears that it has not taken long for representatives of Arsenal Football Club and The England international star Theo Walcott to come to an agreement over the terms of a new contract, even though the 26-year old refused to shed any light on the situation after scoring the only goal of the game against Wolfsburg in the Emirates Cup today.

Prior to the game today, which saw the Gunners win our own trophy for the first time in five years, it was being reported by The Mirror among others that the fleet footed forward is poised to put pen to paper on a bumper new four year deal which will keep him at the club until he is 30-years old and make him one of our highest paid players.

Whether this means that Arsene Wenger is not going to sign another striker in the summer transfer window or not is still unclear but he did start Walcott in the centre forward position again today. After a few chances went begging in the first half, Walcott made no mistake early in the second half, linking up with the very impressive young Gunner from the academy, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and slotting coolly past the Wolfsburg keeper.

So with Theo continuing to show great form and giving the boss a very good option to Giroud in the middle as well as on the flanks, this new contract really is great news. But have we got enough firepower without signing anyone?

  1. Overall good performance by the team !!

ps: akpom is not ready to be a name in the starting XI

    1. He sure isn’t. But he is good enough for the reserves and some cup games. Lots of skill there. Not sure if a loan will fix it, or if it would be training with the first team. I’d lean more on the latter. I don’t think a loan is the best thing for him right now. It sure wasn’t last year

  2. gd news as other clubs were sniffing round theo.

weve signed donyell malen from ajax…big rep but one for the future.

man u have signed pedro (wont lie gutted about this one, ox back has softened the blow somewhat)

we need backup for coquelin,a striker is not enough.
arteta is great guy an has his qualities but we lose le coq we r fooked

You are dumb, Pedro to Chelsea is 99% done

This is why you never get too invested in silly season and call other people dumb. You just end up looking dumb in the end

    2. Even though you are quoting a “Metro” article. Which is about as reliable as me saying “Hey, we just signed Ronaldo and Messi together!”

      1. sorry never use metro.

i called schneiderlin to man u 2 weeks before it was announced ,
due to the official agent on twitter..few on here laughed at me saying this.
        hes pretty good

i used agent edward until i realised he was as bad as indy kalia at stealing posts

  3. The one to watch out is the young Adelaide.Class!Remainds me of Kanu if not even the great Henry.Big guy wirh amazing technique and pace.Great future.

  4. we should have bought back rvp 🙁
the league would have been ours with 5 games to go 🙁 🙁 but pride, ego and bitterness blinded both the fans and management 🙁 🙁 🙁

  5. You need to check your facts, Jeff Reine-Adelaide isn’t from our academy, we only just signed him from Lens, unless you include their academy as ours!

    1. Yep. Just signed Jeff and Fortune about a month ago.

      Great writing JA, as always!

  6. Things look exciting so far. Love seeing the younger players having a go. Please let competition reign in the squad; no more automatic starters. RB position will be constant headache for Arsene this year.

Hope players taking notice of Adelaide; he’ll be after one of those starting spots soon.

Poor Alexis; probably killing the guy missing all the fun.
Wenger probably needed restraining order to keep him off pitch and on vacation.

I love when we’re the bullies

    1. He had a tough time of it last year. Really took 2 steps backwards. He impressed for US in the U21 world cup though, so maybe there is something there.

Gotta remember. Not everyone of these kids will break out. Try looking at our youth team from like 6 years ago and think of how many of them were exciting, and then see where they are now.

  7. Adelaide looks absolute quality! I was very impressed today. Theo was his normal self and shows all the glimmers of being absolute quality that we hope for. Him signing on again is great news and hopefully he can continue to grow on from his recent form.

  8. You guys on here should reserve your praises till the season starts proper – I take it non of you watched the other games (chelsea vs PSG & Man utd vs Barca)… They were equally hot …Man utd looks super strong this time around … The truth is we aint done enough yet…Wenger needs to get more signings

  9. ya..we need a few players bt am not worried abt united….i was last ssn when dey signed falcao n dimaria…chelshit n city are da teams to b scared ov

  10. We have amazing team, but everything can fall apart with injuries, so i pray our fitness coaches and lady luck can serve us this time, lets win our 4th trophy in this year, and put this shame record in water

  11. I’m happy we won and that Walcott will sign soon. But I hope Wenger won’t wait till we get an injury or wait until the last minute to sign anyone we need.

I hope he will sign a DM and striker of top quality. If we sign before deadline we will get a Top quality player. If we sign on deadline it’s a gamble. You can get a player of Ozil quality or a player of Welbeck quality.

I hope Wenger will work his magic, one more time and we can compete for all trophies

  12. waste of money but wenger has promised him a CF spot…so we had better buy another attacking option or it will be another frustrating season…
