Szczesny to play against Man United, and Monreal to replace Gabriel?

I must admit I am a bit surprised that Wenger has said that Wojciech Szczesny will return to the Arsenal Starting XI on Monday night. I thought that the little statement about Szczesny having a virus (before the QPR game) was Wenger’s way of letting us know Ospina would keep his place against United, but the Boss said last night about Wojciech: “He has a test today. If he gets through that test, he will play on Monday night.”

Also we were all aware that Gabriel would not be fit to play, and Wenger confirmed that and said that he hoped Monreal would be able to take his place. Wenger said: “Gabriel has a little hamstring injury and he will be out for two to three weeks. He has a scan today. That means he’s not available for the weekend and certainly not for West Ham United or Monaco, but after that he should be available again.”

“We will of course lose Gabriel in the squad and Nacho Monreal might come back. He will have a test today. Everybody else should be available – the same squad that played against Queens Park Rangers.”

Does that mean that he expects Monreal to play as centre-back again? And if so, will Koscielny or Mertesacker be dropped to the bench?

Playing Mertesacker in this game would probably be a good idea with Utd’s recent long ball tactics. Just get him marking Fellaini. I’m hoping we set up like we did against city. Just let them do their side to side passing and hit them on the break.

I am trusting the boss not to start any Gunners that are short medically and firmly for our must win FA Cup game against the Red Devils of Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday’s nights. Having said this, both the boss and the Gunners should bear in mind that the Red Devils have of late become specialists in winning ugly and grinding out results. Therefore, the boss and the Gunners must never allow the Red Devils to grind any sort of result from this Cup game to play a draw or to win it ugly. The Gunners must be fully prepared to ruthlessly pounced on the Red Devils and bind their arch Red Devils>(not give them freedom to play their game) in the Devils of Rooney, De Maria, Falcao, Carrick, Smalling and De Gea and cast them to the deepest depth of the English Channel during the course of the 90 munites plus of the battle. In particular, arch Red Devil Rooney should be double bound>( well policed) by the Gunners and cast him to the Bottomless depth of the English Channel. Other smaller Red Devils like Mcnair and Shaw should be bound>(restricted ) and be cast into the depth of River Thames. The Key ploy for this game for the Gunners to operate with it is, RESTLESSNESS. The Gunners must be ruthless in playing against the Red Devils. MY RUTHLESS GUNNERS STARTS: Ospina. BellerinRhinosackerKoscielnyGibbs. CoquelinOxlade. WalcottGiroudOzilSanchez. The boss must caution Rhino’ not to duck any attacking headers but he should attack the headers by his attack headings to stop any success by the attack headers. He should desist from dodging shots especially free kick shots.

Sczezcny, Chambers, Per, Koscielny, Monreal, LeCoq, Ramsey, Cazorla, Sanchez, Ozil Olivier..

Gibbs, Martinez, Ox, Welbz, Walcott, TR7, Bellerin…
Anything can happen, they had one of the worst defence when they Came to Emirates and we didn’t beat them…
We can do it at their pitch #COYG

Our players speak of motivation… The fact that we haven’t beaten Manure at Old Trafford since 2006 should be their motivation.. They play under the guidance of a manager who has won the toughest league in the world unbeaten…Also for the Chelsea clash the motivation is that Wenger hasnt beaten Maureen even once…ok guys…this is the right season.. This is the right time..Grab the opportunity play your heart’s out..We gotta win this time..Watch out devils..Gunners coming to gun you down…COYG

Concede first, then we have no choice but to chase the game. That’s Utd game plan. Try and score first, when we are chasing the game, cede possession to us and hit us on the break 2 times like Monaco did.

We shall see if the lesson has been learnt. If Arsenal don’t concede first, they will be ok. If it stays 0-0 don’t commit men forward. Stay solid. If it means bringing them back to London, then that’ll do. But at no point in the game should we be chasing it and leaving ourselves open. That’s what these bastards are waiting for. In terms of quality, they are nowhere near Arsenal. But please don’t play into their hands because that’s what they’re hoping for. I bet you Falcao , Rooney and Di Maria will start. The counter-attack merchants.

I would prefer Ospina as GK, Mertsacker and Koscielny at CB and Monreal as LB

you should not judge Monreal’s ability to perform at CB by his performance at LB
He is fantastic at LB but whenever he plays CB he is average at best

Remember last match we lost to United, Szczney and Monreal started as GK and CB. t east Mertsacker is experiencd or Chambers is better

In that match our defence consisted of Szczesney (GK), Gibbs (LB), Chambers (RB), Monreal (CB), Mert (CB) and Arteta (DM)

I would prefer Ospina, Monreal (LB), Bellerin/Chambers (RB) Koscieln and Mert/Chambers (CB) and Coquelin.

Anyway, if they do play hope Im wrong and they perform great

      spot on mate…..
i can see why we lose to man utd at emirate
b/c when u look at the two line up u can see the difference…
i think we could do better if we play with the second line up and i would prefered that one too….
