It is being reported this morning that Arsenal have moved on from the pursuit of Luis Suarez from Liverpool and have turned their attention to the prolific Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o, who is now looking for a new home following the financial demise of the Anzhi president Suleiman Kerimov.

Mario Gotze was always going to be one of the more difficult to acquire of the Arsenal transfer targets this summer. Now it appears that difficult has become impossible. The German newspaper Bild has reported that an agreement has been reached between Gotze, his current club Borussia Dortmund and the club that have just taken the German Bundesliga title away from them, Bayern Munich.

Arsenal are set to face serious competition from the Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala over the Barcelona and Spanish national keeper Victor Valdes. The Russian’s are owned by Dagestani billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, and he has no qualms about spending money. The Cameroon international striker Samuel Eto’o was signed from Inter Milan for £25 million in 2011 and is now the best paid footballer in the world on 20 million euros a year.
