Arsenal need to go on a Bender says German star

I don’t think anyone would blame the Arsenal players and Arsene Wenger for having gone out on the lash last night, when they got back to London in a great mood after claiming all three points with a terrific battling performance against Man City. But that is not the sort of Bender I mean.

The German international midfielder Lars Bender used to be the subject of lots of Arsenal transfer rumours and his twin brother Sven, who plays for Borussia Dortmund, has also been linked with us, although to a lesser extent. They both play in the same position, defensive midfield, and that is certainly a position that Arsenal have needed to strengthen, so I wonder why the rumours have largely disappeared.

Arsenal may ALREADY have made £16m DM transfer bid

There have already been some Arsenal transfer rumours suggesting that Arsene Wenger was ready to make an offer for the Sporting Lisbon and Portugal star William Carvalho, but today the Metro is reporting that is a different central midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan, that is top of the Gunners’ transfer wish list.

In fact, the report claims that Arsenal may have already made an offer to the Bundesliga club for their German international midfielder, of around £16 million. We have heard plenty from the German media about the Gundogan situation and about how Dortmund have apparently given the 24-year old an ultimatum and a final offer to sign a contract extension.

Arsenal transfer rumour round-up – Bielik, Gundogan, Carvalho, Sissoko

The transfer window is yet to show up many surprises, but with Arsene Wenger admitting we need reinforcements, it should soon hot up with an addition or four!

Today has not been as rife for Arsenal transfer stories as you would have expected, especially considering the latest injury to one of our first-choice back-four, but the main rumours are all focussed on holding midfielders.

The DailyMail claim that Arsenal are keen to tie up a £3.5 Million deal to bring 17 year-old Krystian Bielik to the club, although the Guardian are reporting that Hamburg’s boss Josef Zinnbauer is keen to secure his signature, and is optimistic of a deal after talks with the player over the weekend.

THIS defensive midfielder WILL solve Arsenal’s problems

Hey guys, I heard that Arsenal are looking for a new DM and also heard that Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan is available as he has just 18 months left on his contract. How come Wenger hasn’t heard the same news! Now wait.I can see you boiling up with the ‘we need a proper DM’ scream but what exactly is a proper DM in the modern game? Well, judging by the qualities most teams are looking for, a good one should be;

-a great interceptor
-a great passer (long range accuracy is welcome )
-great sense of position
-great tackler

Arsenal set for £16m transfer swoop as DM is at Dortmund exit door!

Arsenal fans could soon have something to smile about and ease our concerns. While there have been hundreds of interesting looking Arsenal transfer rumours in the football media, so far the only real action on that front has been about players leaving the club.

Lukas Podolski has gone to play for Inter Milan in Italy’s Serie A and Arsene Wenger has revealed that Yaya Sanogo could also be heading out of the club on a loan deal this month. But over a week into the January transfer window, we are still waiting for any signings coming in the other direction.

Why are Arsenal showing no ambition in the transfer window?

Why were Arsenal not interested in players like Bony or Valdes? by KM

Well Arsene Wenger is waiting on miracles in the transfer window again. Straight to the point of why did we not go for Valdes? How many more experienced keepers who’ve won every trophy in Spain plus the Champions League can you get? Now he’s at United who already have a solid keeper in De Gea. We don’t need more league 1 players, we need great players, and one was available FOR FREE Wenger…

Latest on Arsenal transfer interest in Dortmund star

Arsenal continue to look at Gundogan! by Ash

As we enter November it means that the transfer window is still a fair while away, just under two months in fact, but that doesn’t mean that Arsenal won’t be linked with players. Benzema aside, who is being consistently linked with the Gunners, today’s link is also quite persistent. Ilkay Gundogan, the Borussia Dortmund and Germany international midfielder, is supposedly being lined up by Arsene Wenger with a look to snap him up in either January or the coming summer.

Arsenal transfer pursuit of Gundogan under threat from Barcelona

According to the English media, Arsenal and Manchester United have both been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Borrusia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, as Spanish giants Barcelona have entered the race to sign the midfielder, viewing him as a long-term replacement for club legend Xavi Hernandez, says the Express.

Xavi, now 33, is clearly in the twilight years of his career and does not seem to have many years left in him. The Catalan side have been scouting possible replacements for the club legend for quite some time now and seem to have settled for the German international. Gundogan has strikingly similar ball-playing attributes as that of Xavi and might well be penned down as the ideal replacement.

Could these be the next 2 German internationals at Arsenal?

For the last few years, there has been a lot of talk in the football world about Germany, and the Arsenal manager certainly seems to have taken it on board. Arsene Wenger has just made Mesut Ozil the third German international player at the club, alongside Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker, and there could soon be more on the way.

Arsenal already have the young German starlets, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Eisfeld, Gedion Zelalem and Leander Siemann, but according to a report in The Mirror, Wenger is not prepared to wait for them to mature, but is planning a double raid on the Bundesliga, possibly in January. The two players in question are 22-year old Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund and 24-year old Lars Bender from Bayer Leverkusen.

Arsenal Debate – Gundogan is our best midfield option?

Ilkay Gundogan – The Perfect Fit? by Ash

Current reports in the media have suggested Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan is one of the many midfield options Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is keeping his eye on this summer, as he looks to reinforce some strength and quality into the Gunners midfield.

In recent weeks Arsenal have been linked with several midfield players, some of high quality, including Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas, Everton’s Maroune Fellaini and now Dortmund’s Gundogan, whilst we’ve also been linked with the likes of Lyon’s Clement Grenier and Wigan’s James McCarthy.
