With no disrespect to Diame at all, I think he is talented and hard working, but this policy of trying to find underpriced talent must stop. I think its a fundamental problem for us right now, it seems to go unchallenged at the club and so we are speculating with almost every signing, hoping that we have discovered something that no one else has but at a fraction of the price.

The midfielder, who plays for the German Bundesliga side Schalke, has decided not to sign a new contract and could leave on a free transfer in the summer. Liverpool are also very keen on the 22-year old, but his English father is an Everton fan, and Holtby has said that he would be reluctant to join their rivals.

There is no chance of Arsenal meeting the German side Schalke in the next round of the Champions league, the draw for which is made tomorrow, as they were in the same group stage. The team from Gelsenkirchen could still have an effect on the rest of the season for the Gunners, however.

Arsenal for Llorente if Huntelaar transfer fails?

It is being reported today that Arsenal are no longer favourites to land the Dutch international striker, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, from Schalke when the transfer window opens in January. The 29-year old has apparently heard about interest from the Serie A club Inter Milan, and would love another chance to prove himself in Italy, according to his agent Arnold Oosterveer.
