They say that there is no smoke without fire, but with the number of Arsenal transfer rumours linking the club with a massive number of players in varying positions during every transfer window, the Emirates would have burned down years ago if that was true.
Arsene Wenger is not like your average football manager as he tends to treat the Arsenal transfer kitty as if it was coming out of his own pocket. But while this frustrates us fans at times as we look on at other club bosses splashing the cash, it does have it’s good points.
You can certainly understand why Arsene Wenger could be interested in bring Sami Khedira to Arsenal next season, if only for the fact that the 27 year-old German international will be available for nothing (well…except for some massive wages of course!)
It looked like bad news for Arsenal when the reports came in this week that the Real Madrid and Croatia international midfielder Luka Modric had picked up an injury while on international duty. But now it seems as though it could actually help Arsenal to complete the transfer to solve the long running defensive midfield issue at the club.
The consensus among Arsenal fans and the football media seems to be that the Gunners have two key transfers to make in January in order to turn us from nearly men and from a top four club into a team which could actually mount a serious challenge on the Premier League and Champions League.
I must admit to being a wee bit miffed when I saw that Arsenal Football Club, with all the mega millions sitting in the bank, and after the likes of Stan Kroenke and Ivan Gazidis keep suggesting that they are ambitious and ready to back the manager in the transfer market. It seems that the Board, to give the fans the trophy success we want, will give Arsene Wenger a measly £20 million to spend in January.
The Arsenal transfer target and Real Madrid and Germany international midfielder Sami Khedira will be one of the happiest players in the world about the current international break, because it means that at lest the 27-year old is likely to get to play some football.
Arsenal have already famously bid for the PSG and France international midfielder Yohan Cabaye. The 28-year old was playing for Newcastle United at the time and could be back playing in the Premier League as soon as January, as his stint with the French champions looks certain to come to an end.
