I know that Arsene Wenger has suggested this weekend that Arsenal are unlikely to be completing any of their transfer business before the World Cup finishes in mid-July, but quite frankly I do not believe him. I am sure that he would love to make at least one of his signings before all the international players head off to Brazil and I think that player will be Lars Bender.
Arsenal fans are well used to suffering, both during the football season and once it is over and the transfer window opens. But I am not sure how much more we can take. After this season has turned from delight to despair, Arsene Wenger needs to move quickly in order to get the fans back on side and the best way to do that would be to make an early signing or two once the transfer window opens. And bringing in Lars Bender would be the perfect way to start.
Bender will not be coming to Arsenal by Ash
It may not be during the transfer window months but that doesn’t mean the transfer news and rumours stop there as the media continues to link Arsenal with players across the globe. One player who was a popular target for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger during the summer just past was German international defensive midfielder Lars Bender.
Also a popular player with the fans of Arsenal, I see his name persistently mentioned in the comment section of justarsenal.com, however there is some bad news to release because the talented midfield man has today committed his future to current club Bayer Leverkusen for the near future at least.
What chance do we stand in the Champions League? by AH
After beating Fenerbahce 5-0 over the course of two legs in the qualification round of this year’s Uefa Champions League, Arsenal were entered into the competition for another consecutive year under Arsene Wenger and we were placed in pot 1 amongst the big clubs once again.
Today’s transfer topic – Lars Bender by Ash
Today’s transfer topic player is Lars Bender and as Arsenal have been linked with him several times already this summer, I’m sure you know who he is. This rumour comes on the back of a horribly humiliating 3-1 defeat to the hands of Aston Villa, and funnily enough it seems convenient that this player seems to fill all the areas we need to replace, especially after the injury to Arteta.
Arsenal have finally officially announced the first signing of the summer transfer window in Yaya Sanogo. The 20-year old French striker from Auxerre in Ligue 2 is not exactly the `top, top, top` player that Gooners have been waiting for, but at least it is a signing and he looks promising for the future.
Everything else has just been rumours and speculation. There will probably be some truth in some of these rumours, but nothing official. Until the story about Lars Bender, that is. Bayer Leverkusen reacted to the reported bid for their midfielder by making a public statement that he is not for sale at any price, which is the next best thing to an official confirmation of Arsenal’s bid.
Arsenal bid for Bender? by Stefan
As we speak the Media is reporting that Arsenal have had a £19.7M bid for Lars Bender rejected by Bayer Leverkusen who are flat out refusing to sell another one of their top players after the excellent season they have had.
They have already lost Daniel Carvajal back to Real Madrid and Andre Schurrle to Chelsea. One from defence, one from attack and now Arsenal want one from midfield, according to The Mirror. Leverkusen will be waiting for a bid for their goalkeeper Rene Adler next, who incidentally has already been linked with the Gunners several times lately.
Arsene Wenger may be about to do his bit for the German economy, as it has been reported that he will spend the whole of the Arsenal transfer kitty on three players from the Bundesliga. Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze of the current champions Borussia Dortmund and Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen are the three players linked with a summer move to the Emirates, but is Wenger really ready to break the habit of a lifetime and pay top dollar?
Player Profile: Renato Augusto by KJ
I’ve lately started doing these player profiles on players either at Arsenal or linked with Arsenal. I am willing to listen to any suggestions on players you would like analysed next and I’ll do my best to address to them as soon as possible. Just leave any suggestions in the comments below.
Now onto analysing the Brazilian midfielder that is Renato Augusto. He is clearly talented. He has a great shot on him and has great attacking flair which he rightly should. He isn’t the quickest but has great dribbling ability.
It is being reported this morning that Arsene Wenger is considering a bid for the young Bayer Leverkusen striker Samed Yesil. The 17 year-old phenomonem has been prolific in the Germany U17 side, despite not yet making his full debut in the Bundesliga.
Yesil scored six goals in eight matches for the Germans to qualify for the U17 World Cup Finals, and then scored another three in the competition proper as his country lost to Holland in the Final, but he still came away with the Golden Boot.
A very strange article has appeared in the Sun today, with an Arsenal transfer rumour from Germany. The agent of a German striker claims that Arsenal have been tracking his client for FOUR YEARS.
Isn’t it strange that we’ve never heard of him before?
Anyway, it seems that the Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling is having a great season, having scored six goals in the first eight matches in the Bundesliga, but it looks like his agent is already trying to sell off the 25 year-old.
The agent, Ali Bulut, said: “Stefan is becoming a big player and things are working for him at the moment.
