There are a lot of Arsenal transfer rumours lately suggesting that Arsene Wenger is keen on bringing the ex-Man United reserve Chicharito back to the Premier League in January. The little Mexican striker was prolific before he arrived at Old Trafford but, despite scoring regularly as a super-sub, Ferguson rarely gave him a run in the starting line-up.
With Arsenal having to do without our excellent young midfield general Francis Coquelin for at least three months, and knowing Arsenal that time period will keep being extended, the January transfer window can not come quick enough for us Gooners.
I am not sure if you have heard this one before Gooners, but some people think that Arsenal could do with signing a world class central midfielder, a player with defensive discipline, high work rate and the power to battle Premier League opponents. Oh I don’t know, maybe someone like Patrick Vieira perhaps. I seem to remember the Gunners doing quite well when he played for us.
First of all, Gooners, I do think that Arsenal should not really have a problem completing this transfer if Arsene Wenger and the board are serious about it and don’t do the usual trick of penny pinching and dithering. But if the Gunners do mess about in the transfer pursuit of Lars Bender, then it could all end in disappointment.
One of the latest Arsenal transfer rumours could see the Gunners embroiled in a transfer battle with five other Premier League clubs, according to a report in The Mirror. And that could definitely turn into an interesting fight.
I know that Arsene Wenger has suggested this weekend that Arsenal are unlikely to be completing any of their transfer business before the World Cup finishes in mid-July, but quite frankly I do not believe him. I am sure that he would love to make at least one of his signings before all the international players head off to Brazil and I think that player will be Lars Bender.
Arsenal fans are well used to suffering, both during the football season and once it is over and the transfer window opens. But I am not sure how much more we can take. After this season has turned from delight to despair, Arsene Wenger needs to move quickly in order to get the fans back on side and the best way to do that would be to make an early signing or two once the transfer window opens. And bringing in Lars Bender would be the perfect way to start.
Bender will not be coming to Arsenal by Ash
It may not be during the transfer window months but that doesn’t mean the transfer news and rumours stop there as the media continues to link Arsenal with players across the globe. One player who was a popular target for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger during the summer just past was German international defensive midfielder Lars Bender.
