Although Arsene Wenger has worked hard on the Arsenal academy, making it one of his major focus points since he took over as manager of the Gunners nearly 20 years ago, the Frenchman is not averse to keeping an eye on the young players making a name for themselves at other clubs.
Southampton have rightly built themselves a reputation for having one of the best academy systems around, with Arsenal taking Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain off them in recent years, and other Premier League clubs circling like vultures this summer for the likes of Lallana, Shaw and others, not forgetting that Gareth Bale was a product of the south coast club. .......Read the full article here
Well, another two Arsenal players were eliminated from the World Cup earlier. The Arsenal captain, who may not be with us for too much longer, had to watch from the bench as his Belgium team were beaten by Argentina. Then young Joel Campbell’s Costa Rica went out on penalties to the Dutch.
But fair play to the South American minnows who everybody expected to be the whipping boys in England’s so-called group of death. They were a credit to football and the tournament, and two of the major reasons for that should be playing for Arsenal next season. .......Read the full article here
We are still not really any the wiser as to whether the Costa Rica international Joel Campbell will be playing his club football for Arsenal in the coming season, or whether the 22-year old will be spending a fourth season out on loan from his parent club.
He is certainly going to get a chance to impress Arsene Wenger during pre-season, though, but an Express report reveals that he will not sit down and discuss his future until his role at the World Cup is over, according to his agent. The agent also claims that there is growing interest in the Arsenal striker from clubs in Italy, after his performances in Brazil caught the eye. .......Read the full article here
Manchester City’s summer signing Jesus Navas has revealed he rejected a move to Arsenal, three years ago, with his statement basically suggesting that the reason was he felt Arsenal would be a step down from previous club Sevilla.
City apparently got a bargain with the deal being less than £20 million, which I think is an absolute steal for someone of Navas’ quality, however admittedly they have taken a massive risk in signing him as it’s unclear whether his issues with being homesick still persist. .......Read the full article here
Navas, Dragovic and Son is not a removal company by the way, it is three different football players who have been linked with a possible summer transfer switch to Arsenal. Arsene Wenger and the club will have a good idea of the players they want to sign this summer, but a lot could still depend on where we finish in the table.
Jesus Navas, the Spanish international winger, has been linked with the Gunners before. He is fast, tricky and provides great service to the attack, which is something we really need. The standard of crossing at the Emirates this season has been appalling and is one of the main reasons, I think, that Olivier Giroud has not scored a lot more goals. .......Read the full article here
Arsenal are stepping up their interest in two of the Spanish international side, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo, who play in the capital of Andalusia with Sevilla FC. It is a fiercely proud club and has enjoyed success in the past, winning the Spanish Copa Del Rey two years ago and winning two UEFA cups in a row in 2006 and 2007.
At the minute, however, Sevilla are struggling financially and are faced with the necessity of selling some of their best players to balance the books. Arsene Wenger did a similar thing in the summer with Santi Cazorla and Malaga, and that has been a fantastic move for the Gunners. .......Read the full article here
So this morning it would seem that the Sahin saga has taken yet another turn in what seems to be the player opting for Liverpool. I find this shocking as he so desired to want to come to Arsenal and play for us a day ago, apparently. Liverpool are paying him more but can’t offer Champions league football. It’s surprising how many players we lose out on because of money. Let’s face it, this isn’t the boy scouts here. Players have a limited window in which to shine and most, if not all, want top dollar for their skills. .......Read the full article here
AS (Spanish news outlet) are reporting that Arsenal are interested in signing Sevilla winger, Jesus Navas. It is a bit of a surprising link considering that we’re quite heavily stoked out wide and it looks likely that Walcott will sign a new contract. However, I’ll give this rumour a fair shake.
Navas was raised in the Sevilla youth system and has stuck with the team ever since. That seems extraordinary considering his talents and the clubs that he could go to (I’m talking Barcelona and Madrid). The reason why he’s still at Sevilla was because of his severe homesickness. This has spanned for many years now and has stopped him from really excelling in his career both at club level and internationally. .......Read the full article here
