Fulham v Arsenal Player Ratings – Giroud and Poldi steal the show

Arsenal player ratings by Neil

After the Aston Villa game, of which I shall not speak, it was important for Arsenal to get the three points today. Fulham are traditionanally difficult opponents at Craven Cottage.

Craven Cottage may sound like a kind of cheese, but they usually make life difficult for us.

Last season, many of us were not sold on Olivier Giroud. For such a big unit he seemed to lack basic hold up play and his link up play wasn’t up to the standard expected at this football club. At the end of last season I stated that he could become a top player if he worked on this.

In Arsenal’s most recent EPL games, we have struggled to put the ball in our opponents’ net. We could highlight some reasons for this ranging from lack of communication in attack, absence of proven goal poacher. We have a positive however, two successive clean-sheets.

The acquisition of Podolski was great news to Arsenal fans all over the world and so far, he has not disappointed in my opinion. Yes! He may not be entirely consistent and have few off-days, however, you would agree with me that he is a beast on his day. You can expect better services come next season.

But I didn’t want him in the way that I wanted M’Vila or Cahill; I wanted him in the same way that I wanted Karim Benzema and Lionel Messi at Arsenal. In other words, I saw him as a dream move, a dream which I never expected to materialise.
