This German defender is Arsenal’s perfect target for January

Are Arsenal on the Verge of a Move for Yet Another German WC Star? by AT

Over the past month or so, there have been several media reports linking the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger with a move for Schalke’s Benedikt Howedes once the transfer window opens in January. With the Gunners struggling defensively, it seems as though Wenger has once again turned towards the Bundesliga to bolster his side’s credentials, this time in defence.

Injury leaves Draxler to Arsenal transfer in ruins

According to recent Arsenal transfer rumours, the FC Schalke and Germany international star Julian Draxler was thought to be high on the list of potential signings for Arsene Wenger in the January transfer window that is fast approaching. But the exciting young player has suffered yet another injury setback.

The attacking midfielder only lasted 11 seconds of his club’s most recent Bundesliga game, a narrow home win over Augsburg on Friday evening. And the injury has been named as a pulled thigh muscle that will see him play no more part for Schalke or Germany for the rest of this year.

Draxler transfer will NOT mean Arsenal dump Ozil

In one of the latest Arsenal transfer rumours, it is being reported that Arsene Wenger is preparing to go back to Germany in January to sign the young Schalke star Julian Draxler. The Gunners were strongly tipped to sign the talented 20-year old in the summer, but concerns over the fitness issues that saw him miss out on the World Cup triumph in Brazil meant that Wenger went for Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona in a £30 million transfer instead.

Arsenal to swap Ozil for Draxler in January?

I know that Arsene Wenger signed the Germany international Mesut Ozil for Arsenal because he thought the 25-year old superstar would be one of the key pieces in the jigsaw for the Gunners team of the future. And the Frenchman has always backed his record signing and given him plenty of time and patience to produce the sort of performances we used to see for Germany and Real Madrid.

But as yet, Ozil has not found his top gear in England and there are growing suggestions that the Premier League might not be the right place for him. I am holding on to see, but surely in this second season, Ozil should be much better and more influential in our games.

Spurs to bid for Arsenal target Draxler! Ha Ha Good luck spuds…

This is pure comedy gold for Arsenal fans, although if there was even the slightest chance of it actually being successful, I would certainly not be smiling. Our north London rivals, Tottenham, must have got their hands on something very powerful and mind-bending to smoke if this transfer rumour report by Metro is true.

Arsenal back in to finally seal the transfer of Huntelaar?

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been at the centre of many Arsenal transfer rumours in recent years, especially last January and summer. It was thought that Arsene Wenger made a real concerted effort to bring the Dutch striker to Arsenal, but in the end the 30-year old opted to stay with his current club Schalke in the Bundesliga.

But now there is just one year left on his current contract with the Germans, a situation that we are all too familiar with and one that forced Wenger to sell Huntelaar’s international team mate Robin van Persie. Now the Gunners are in the opposite position though, and according to The Express, we are going again to try and finally secure his signature.

Bundesliga star confirms Arsenal offer

There is no doubt that 99% of all Arsenal transfer rumours are completely fabrications made up by the media, but every now and again there emerges a story that refuses to go away. This week it is the Ballotelli story, but in January it was the Arsenal link with Schalke´s Julian Draxler.

Now the player himself has confirmed that the Gunners did indeed try to buy him in January, but he was convinced to stay at the Bundesliga side for one more year before considering his future.

Arsenal odds on for Draxler and Fabregas nears Barca exit

Barcelona midfielder and former favourite son of Arsenal, Cesc Fabregas, could spark a bidding war between Arsene Wenger’s side and the Manchester clubs. Barcelona are reportedly ready to listen to offers for the 26-year old whose return to the Catalan club has not been as rosy as he expected. He was booed by the home supporters during Barcelona’s 2-1 win against Athletic Bilbao and that was not the first time.

In a recent online poll, 50 percent of the Barcelona fans that voted would prefer to see Fabregas leave the club. Fabregas is in his third season since he left Arsenal where he became a superstar but the club’s supporters never took to him. He has often been used as a scapegoat in the club’s recent failings.

Champions League to decide whether Arsenal get Draxler?

If you believe what you read in the papers, Arsenal have already tried to sign Julian Draxler. A January bid from the Gunners was revealed, or claimed by Horst Heldt, the sporting director of the German starlet’s current club Schalke 04.

Herr Heldt has been at it again, according to a Sky Sports report, in which he says that Schalke are very confident about keeping their exciting young player, despite the fact that there is a release clause in Draxler’s current contract, thought to be getting on for £40 million.

Arsenal get green light for Draxler transfer as Bayern pull out!!

The widespread belief in the football media is that Arsenal would have had Julian Draxler in the squad now if Arsene Wenger had agreed to pay something close to his release clause value of £37 million, and that the failure to sign the 20-year old sensation in January had left the door open for Bayern Munich to hijack the transfer in the summer.

But Arsenal fans can breathe a little easier after Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, according to The Mirror, insisted that Draxler is not one of their transfer targets this summer. That should hopefully leave the way clear foe Arsenal to sign one of the most exciting young players in the world.

Both Arsenal targets fail to shine in Champions League

As the Premier League season builds to it’s closest run conclusion ever, with Arsenal and three other sides still in with a very realistic chance of becoming the new champions of England, the players should be thinking of nothing but the next game. But behind the scenes at the Emirates, I expect there is a lot of work and preparation going on for what will happen when the season does come to a close.

Arsenal rocked by double transfer blow

If you asked every Arsenal fan in the world to write down the top five players they are hoping and expecting Arsene Wenger to sign in the summer transfer window, I bet there would not be many who did not have Diego Costa and Julian Draxler on the list.

But there are stories about both of these potential signings in the media today and it is not good news for Arsenal fans. 25-year old Costa has drawn attention from many clubs, with Liverpool reportedly meeting his release clause last summer. But he seems committed to his current side Atletico Madrid and their manager Diego Simeone.
