Joel Campbell’s next suitors by Ash
Joel Campbell could well be Arsenal’s next gem to make his way up from the youth, and Arsenal fans will be hoping he can repeat the performances that have earned him many plaudits ever since he joined the club two years ago.
The Costa Rican international striker originally joined Arsenal in 2011 after a stint of successful trials. He then immediately went out on loan to Ligue 1 side Lorient, where he scored a total of 3 gaols in 25 league appearances. He then returned to Arsenal before once again heading out on loan, this time to Spanish side Real Betis, where he endured yet another difficult but ultimately promising season. Well, that’s what it was like for most Arsenal fans when we announced the signing of 19 year old Thomas Eisfeld.

After losing Van Persie as well as Song, there was a definitely doubt amongst the fans but Wenger once again has turned it around and has proven his ability as a manager with such a small budget. Francis Coquelin has been somewhat of a muted revelation at Arsenal this season. Due to all our injuries and mishaps we haven’t really taken notice of some of our up and coming youngsters including Coquelin. The youngster was scouted by us during 2008 and joined thereafter. He successfully integrated into our club from going into the reserves and then maintaining a place before being loaned out. He went to Lorient in his native France for a season. It was definitely a good experience for the kid as he racked up 25 appearances for the club. His loan move was so successful that they wanted him back this year.
