With all club competitions now finished for English football this season, we can sit back and review what the season has been like for the Arsenal players, in terms of who has performed and who hasn’t. It is also a time where we can review our youngsters who have been out on loan and think about what chances they have of linking up with the Arsenal first team next season.
When Jon Toral arrived at Arsenal from La Masia all those years ago along with Hector Bellerin, we thought that the half-English lad was the most promising, but we all know now that Toral was held back by injury while Bellerin has gone on to become first choice at the Emirates.
The most important game by far coming up for Arsenal is the latest instalment of the north London derby. A clash with Tottenham is always a big and important game, often more so for us fans than it is for the players, and it is made even bigger when there is something to play for.
Santi Cazorla’s injury at the weekend could be the final straw that broke the back of Arsenal’s Premier League campaign, with both him and Francis Coquelin both to miss at least the next three months of the season, not to mention the other seven Gunners currently in the treatment room.
All good official news from Arsenal as the club have announced that not only has Theo Walcott has signed his new contract extension (in a lot quicker time than the last saga) but also our little Spaniard Santi Cazorla has also put pen to paper, which should stop all those crazy rumours about him returning to Spain in the near future.
The young Spaniard Jon Toral arrived from Barcelona along with Hector Bellerin back in 2011, and if anything Toral was touted as thec most promising of the two. But Bellerin has now been promoted to the Arsenal frst team, while Toral is also playing first-team football, but with our lowly London neighbours Brentford.
