Is it too early for Arsenal to offer Walcott a new contract?

Sign Dat Ting! 2013

Sign Dat Ting! 2013

After the never-ending “sign dat ting!” saga in 2012/13 season, which ended with Theo Walcott signing a new Arsenal contract extension for three and a half years, it is no surprise that Arsene Wenger would want to start renewal talks a little earlier this time around, but is it just a little too early?

Walcott finally signed that contract on the 18th January 2013 nearly two full years ago, and the England international was reported to have won an increase to £90,000-per-week to persuade him to stay. Since that day Walcott has started 22 League games (and 10 as substitute) and has spent much more time on the treatment table than he has on the training pitch. And this is not just a recent phenomenom. If you ignore Walcott’s first breakthrough season when he started just 5 games, Theo has averaged only 15 League starts a year for the last 8 campaigns and this report shows that Walcott has had 14 separate injuries in the last five years

Will Arsenal v Man United turn into Welbeck v RVP?

It looks like the fears that Arsenal may have to do without Danny Welbeck as well as Theo Walcott for the crunch clash with Manchester United later will prove to be unfounded, The England international was due to face a fitness test yesterday and was then pictured training normally, so hopefully that means he will fine to start.

Welbeck will be delighted as it is his first chance to face his former club and perhaps to prove once and for all that their new manager Louis van Gaal made a bit of a blunder when he allowed the 23-year old to join the Gunners. Van Gaal has restated his reasons for allowing the transfer, insisting that his striker options would all be in front of Welbeck, as reported by The Mirror.

Forget history! Here is why Arsenal WILL beat Man United

Arsenal fans will hardly need reminding that our recent history against Manchester United is far from glorious. But just in case, our Arsenal loving friends over at the Daily Mail have kindly written an article reminding us that the Gunners have won just once against the old rivals from Old Trafford in the last 11 meetings.

But that should not really matter on Saturday, because the tide has turned for both clubs. What the report forgets to mention is that this dreadful run of results for Arsenal has come in the years when our financial shackles were really starting to chafe, while United were the most successful Premier League club.

Arsenal can and MUST heap misery on crisis hit Man United

There has probably not been a better time for Arsenal to be heading into a match against Manchester United and needing a positive result, because as much as Arsenal may have a few key players on the injury list and are struggling for form and consistency, we are in a much better position than our next opponents.

The only thing Man United have going for them ahead of their trip to the Emirates is that they managed to scrape a win against Crystal Palace in their last Premier League game. But their injury list continues to grow and put Louis van Gaal under serious pressure, as the graphic below reveals.

The tables are turned and Arsenal MUST make United suffer!!

One thing is for sure, Arsenal fans, and it is that Danny Welbeck would not have become a Gunner in the early hours of this morning if Alex Ferguson had still been in charge. To be honest, I was half expecting Man United to do what Mourinho and Chelsea did with Demba Ba last summer.

If they had pulled the plug on the Welbeck transfer at the last minute, not only would they have left us without a decent centre forward until Olivier Giroud was back from his long injury lay-off, there would have been no time for us to look elsewhere. And with the money they have been throwing around all summer, the £16 million or so they got from Arsenal was hardly important.

Arsenal ready to take £10m Man United bid for Vermaelen?

Nothing has been confirmed yet, by either Arsenal or Man United, but it appears as though the transfer of the Gunners captain to our Premier League rivals could be back on. Thomas Vermaelen was pictured this week on holiday with former Arsenal captain and turncoat Robin van Persie, and the two could soon be seeing a lot more of each other.

The Belgium international defender is in the same situation as the Dutchman was when he forced a move to United two years ago, with just a year left remaining on his contract and Arsene Wenger well aware that he is not about to sign a new one. The Frenchman still wants decent value for his players, but the £10 million bid reported by The Mirror could well be enough to convince Arsenal to sell.

Arsenal to lose ANOTHER captain to Man Utd after terms agreed?

It appears that the only things holding up the transfer of the Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen to Manchester United is for the Old Trafford club to meet our valuation of around £11 million and for the defender and his Belgium international team mates to win or get knocked out of the World Cup in Brazil.

Talksport are reporting that the 28-year old centre back has already sorted out his personal terms with United, where he will join the previous Arsenal captain Robin van Persie and line up against his formner team mates.

Arsenal boss shows his teeth to van Persie and Bendtner

Arsene Wenger always seems to have a great relationship with his players at Arsenal. Even the likes of Samir Nasri, Alex Song and others, who have let the boss down by pushing for a move away from the Gunners once Wenger has made them into top class players, still keep in contact and remain friendly with the Frenchman.

But this week, two players who Wenger seems to have forgiven for all sorts of things seem to have got on the wrong side of the Arsenal boss. Nicklas Bendtner’s crazy exploits in Copenhagen, while Arsenal were sweating blood in Munich against Bayern, may have been bad enough, but he was not even supposed to be there.

Could Arsenal really forgive and forget with RvP?

It is fast becoming the Elephant in the room for Arsenal fans. Robin van Persie I mean. According to all the papers, the Dutchman is not happy at his new club Manchester United. He was happy when he picked up a Premier League medal last season, but the Moyes takeover and United’s struggle to obtain European football are the last things he thought would happen.

Arsenal missed the chance to reclaim top spot last night after a draw at home to Manchester United. Both teams seeming a little hesitant at times, their fear of losing overpowering their desire to win.

The Gunners can be thankful that Van Persie didn’t have his clinical boots on, however Wojciech Szczesny rightfully earned the plaudits for some superb saves to deny the Dutchman.

Giroud was wasteful, while Cazorla attempted to get things going for the Gunners. Koscielny too also came close for the Gunners, but in the end they failed to find the cutting edge to finish off Moyes’ men.

Arsenal team news, preview and prediction for United clash

Arsenal vs Manchester United Preview, Line up and predicted score by KJ

This is easily the biggest test of the season so far for Arsenal. We have been knocked off the top of the league aafter that terribly disappointing thrashing by Liverpool. Our players will be low on morale and now have to face a Man Utd team who have just as many brilliant attacking players as Liverpool. A loss against United and we could be 4 points off the top as well as looking over our shoulders at Liverpool who could easily nick the 3rd spot off us and Tottenham aren’t far behind.

Arsenal fans do NOT want Rvp or Cole back! Maybe Cesc….

The return of the unwanted rivals? by Ash

Although the transfer window has shut down permanently for this season and will not re-open again until a few weeks after Arsenal have potentially had their celebratory Premier League winners’ open bus parade, but the transfer speculation is already in full swing. The news is so surprising that it has to be shared with Arsenal fans because this really would be one massive shock if it happened.
