The Arsenal team to face Burnley – Gibbs and Wilshere out

Another week, another Arsenal injury. As discussed earlier this week, the Gunners get an average of one injury per game (over five years!) and this week it seems that Kieran Gibbs is the unlucky one. Our defence every week just consists of whoever happens to be fit at the time.

With David Ospina out until next year, there is no competition for Szczesny. I fully expect Hector Bellerin to replace Gibbs in the back line alongside Chambers, Mertesacker and Monreal. I expect Hayden to be put on the bench as that is all the cover we have if (God forbid!) we get another injury tomorrow.

Jack Wilshere returns from suspension but has now picked up a knock and will miss the game. We KNOW if he was fit Wenger would pick him along with Aaron Ramsey, in the hope that both will suddenly hit top form. Wilshere himself certainly thinks he is back to his best although not fans would agree with him just yet. I think Arteta and Flamini will start together again to try and make sure of another clean sheet, with Ramsey of course.

Cazorla will be smiling away in midfield too, and of course there is no doubt whatsoever that that Player-of-the-Month Alexis Sanchez will be roaming around behind second-placed Danny Welbeck. I only expect Walcott to get some game time if we have a commanding lead before being risked. Probably on exactly 75 minutes lol.

I don’t think Wenger will rotate until Tuesday as League points are at a premium right now, whereas a weaker team should still dispose of Anderlecht in midweek. Could we find ourselves with our first back-to-back wins in the League tomorrow?

Who disagrees with my team?

  1. Not me. The team picks itself. This would be a good time to give Campbell, Poldi and Theo a run in the second half when we’re 3/0 up.

  2. Would rather Jack played against Burnley instead of coming on against Anderlecht. But hey, what can ta do?

  3. I don’t get the love in some fans have with Jack, he really hasn’t reached close to his potential and to be honest I simply don’t see him as good enough for an Arsenal shirt.
No doubt I will get some ‘he bleeds Arsenal’ replies but Jenks is more fanatical about Arsenal and not many lamented his leaving!

Fact is we win more games when Jack doesn’t play so I ain’t gonna miss him.
Way too much sentimentality in this team, Arsenal is a team playing competitive football, not a half way house for might be’s.

Only 6 players good enough to play in the top 4 in an Arsenal team is not enough.

    1. But when Wilshere was on the pitch we won 2 cups. the FA CUP and CHARITY SHIELD.. Can you explain why?

  4. i think put rosicky in for cazorla as he has been struglling for form and rosicky needs game time. Campbell in for ox. And I think Sanchez could use a little bit of a rest as we have really overworked him, maybe bring him on in the second half if things arent going our way. Or give theo a few minutes in the second half if we are winning by 2 goals or more. Defence picks itself and i think welbeck will start up top.

    1. @ryan, NO, we have. No reason to drop our only standout performer in (sanchez) not worth the risk. Why not to give him the rest after we kill the game off??? Opposite to calling. Him on while we are down, #JustSaying

    2. one of the main reasons he prob came to Arsenal was for playing time. And he says he wants to play the entire 90. So if he wants to play, let him play.

    3. Messi, Ronaldo, Hazard, Ibrahimovic play all the games for their teams. No one says they’re being overworked.

    1. He should drop Ox this match and start Campbell. Especially since Burnley is one of the few teams struggling more than us. This will be a great opportunity for him and he deserves it.

  5. Finally, I’ve reached the end of the road with Diaby. I think he should just do himself a favour and pursue a different career.

I’m damn tired of him. Just what did he do to get injured this time around? When did he even get injured, to the extent where he’s not even any close to full training?

It’s so damn bad, u only just call him by his name and that’s enough to get him injured.

  6. And how long until it’s gonna be injury prone Ramsey and Arteta are out as well? This is just ridiculous. Anderlecht is gonna be out for blood against us mid week and by that time, we will only have about 8 players to field the pitch.

  7. Arsenal fc aka ‘made of glass fc’. What a situation nto be in no rb lb orbcb cover, wel done Arsene round of applause!

  8. Based on Miles line up which looks good who’s on the bench? Poldi, sanogo, rosicky, flamini, martinez, hayden?

  9. Where do you get your news from, palm reader? Gibbs is fit to play, and Wilshere is facing a late fitness test, which most likely means that he will be included in the squad. Having said that, I wouldn’t start either one of them, and would go with:

    Chezzer
    Bellerin Chambers Mert Monreal
Flamini Ramsey (he needs a confidence booster)
    Sanchez Rosicky Poldi
    Welbeck

Santi was absolutely atrocious last game, and I think Rozza and Pod deserve a start.

  10. if was me i would play the team from last match, no need to change a winning team, but i guess that will not happen, if gibbs and wilshere are injured why even test them tomorrow let them get some more rest, this is probably one of arsenal big problem allow players to play with little knocks, when they are not even really needed and these little knocks turn into big knocks when the next match is important.

I am not disrespecting Burnley , but i think we have sufficient players in the squad to win without Wilshere and Gibbs
