“The pressure is on Arsenal” against Doncaster

Arsenal are preparing for the visit of lowly Doncaster Rovers in the Caraboa Cup tomorrow night, and it should be an easy win with Donny just one point above the League One relegation zone with just one win in their first 8 games. But a Cup game is a Cup game and as we know, anything can happen.

The Doncaster defender Andy Butler reckons that the pressure is on Arsenal while Doncaster can just enjoy the occasion. He said: “We are the underdogs and the pressure is on them to beat us, so we’ll just do what we can and try and put a good show on.

“As professional sportsmen we’ll approach this game like we would any other – we’ll look at their strengths and weaknesses and see where we could hurt them. We want to go there and do the best we can and try to win the game.”

Despite their lowly position, Doncaster will be bringing 5000 travelling fans, and Butler wants to give their supporters something to cheer about at the Emirates: “It gives everyone a good day out, not just for us but the fans as well. There are not many chances to go watch your team against a top four side.

“It is fantastic. The ticket prices have been brilliant as well to encourage that support, but it still costs to get down there and the fans have put their hands into their pockets. We want to put a good performance for them.”

The pressure is indeed on the Arsenal second string, as they will want to impress Arsene Wenger as well as win through to the next round. There will be all eyes on our youngsters in the hope they can prove themselves to be stars of the future. It should be a great night out for everyone….

  1. No pressure at all. It’s just another petty competition, most top clubs will not take it seriously.

I just want to see how the youngsters and the fringe players like Iwobi, Nelson, Adelaide, Bielik, Debuchy, Willock and Chambers play. It is kinda boring to watch the same first team players like Ozil, Sanchez and Ramsey play.

    1. Mourinho took it seriously and was very happy and Ibrahimovich was soooo happy he was almost in TEARS when they won.

We didn’t even finish in the top 4. We have NO right to be SNOBS and look down at trophies.

Yes, we should prioritize the competitions and give our top players rest. I will be cheering on the players and care about winning even if you don’t because I support Arsenal even if you don’t

  2. The only team that takes this cup seriously is the one that wins it!
I’d rather win the fa cup out of the two.. but I’ll still be cheering on the Arsenal tomorrow!
    Come on Arsenal!

  3. Hi guys! A bit off topic but…spanish outlet Sport is reporting Neymar is demanding Cavani to be sold after a penalty kick bust up against Lyon. The pair bickered over who should take the penalty before Cavani went on to take it and duly missed. Neymar wants Cavani out by January but ideally of he is to leave he will go in the summer when he is not cup tied. Lol.. we should swoop in for Cavani!!! Lol…I know its just a rumour but maybe Neymar does call the shots at PSG now..

  4. Wenger has confirmed Wilshire and Chambers are playing tonight but Debuchey is still recovering from injury so is not playing.

  5. Pressure? If Arsenal lose tomorrow, they will be under a lot of pressure. But as of right now, this is the easiest game for us on paper. If we can’t beat those guys, even playing our second or third string, we don’t deserve to be in any competition at all.
