The reason Arsenal have secured signing of Ozil and Alexis?

We all know that money plays a big part in football these days, and even though Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are no longer held back by the need to plough a large chunk of the club’s earnings into the repayment of the costs of building the new stadium, we are still a bit behind the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Man United when it comes to spending power.

Even with their reported wage demands, however, the Arsenal stars Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are not out of our price range and as the boss suggested recently, it is not the money that will be the deciding factor in whether the pair will sign the new contracts on offer and commit their future to Arsenal.

I am sure that Wenger and the Arsenal board will agree to anything but a ridiculous salary for both Gunners, but what they really need is to know that they are at a club that can win things as well as one that brings the best out of them.

Right now that is clearly the case, highlighted clearly by the midweek demolition of Ludogorets which saw the German notch his first ever hat-trick and the Chilean’s stock rise even further with a peach of a goal and a brilliant all-round display.

Both Gunners are entering the prime years of their playing career and the fact that both are also enjoying their best form will not be lost on them and neither will the fact that the whole team looks in the best shape ever for a proper tilt at the title.

If I was Wenger I would be really pushing for those contract extensions while everything at the club is so rosy, so do you think that recent events on the pitch will be the reason Arsenal secure the futures of these two key players?

Bob.

  1. Sell Ox and Ramsey, use their wages to cover the pay raise for the REAL stars who actually perform, and there will even be a surplus of cash left over which could be put towards another player’s wage. Simple!

    1. Wow, absolutely stunned at how many fans feel we should keep Ramsey and the Ox. I would love someone to explain to me what Ramsey has done in eight years, and what the Ox has done in five, to warrant even MORE time, and huge wages at Arsenal. I would prefer to see other players given a chance now, Elneny for example. The guy looks way better than Ramsey already playing in the middle, and I’m sure Arsenal could find another winger who could beat Ox’s career best of four goals in a single season.

  2. i believe they deserve a raise but they can,t hold us to ransom, they shouldn’t forget that their performances show that they are at the right club with a manager that believes in them,a pretty good team that plays the right football, fans who love them ,it would be nice for them to show loyalty and repay the faith shown to them by arsenal it was not so long ago they were subs for their clubs, the grass is not always greener on the other side!!

    1. @FbG
Mater of factly…Let Theo have his good season and then put a high price on his head come summer…

  3. I think what is holding the two players back frm signing a new contract is not the money as le prof said bt might be down to the uncertainty of AW future with the club. Recall RVP saga, Alex Ferguson in hs biography tendered unreserved apology to RVP because he lied to him that he isn’t retiring (if u hvnt read the book pls do so to confirm this statement). So smhw I thnk AW’s future needs to be sorted out b4 we see duo put pen to paper on their respective new contracts.
