Everything comes together for Arsenal- plus FULL injury update

Could this be the season when everything finally comes together for Arsenal? It has certainly started well, with Wenger getting all three needed players in all three needed positions during the transfer window. Perhaps he could have bought them a little earlier but Hey Ho!

So we now have the right players in the right positions, and more importantly we have extremely good reserves to cover when we get our usual injury problems.

We already lost Per Mertesacker before the season began and we also found out that Danny Welbeck would be out until Xmas at least, but Wenger brought in Holding, Mustafi and Perez to give us even adequate cover until their return. He also brought in Granit Xhaka who has had an excellent (if slightly undisciplined) start to his Arsenal career to cover for Coquelin, who we missed badly whilst injured last season.

After the first game defeat to Liverpool the team seems to have gelled quicker than usual, and we haven’t even needed Olivier Giroud and have hardly used Lucas yet, but there are already signs that we could be back to full FULL strength after Xmas. We have seen Carl Jenkinson return already, and today Wenger gave us some good news on Giroud, Ramsey and as for Welbeck, Le Prof said: “He’s ahead of schedule and he’ll be back in January. It will take two months competition for him to get back to his best.”

Wenger also spoke our current injury returnees today and again it is all but good news. “From Wednesday night we have no big problems, the only uncertainty is Santi Cazorla so we will see,” Wenger said.

“Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud are progressing well. Giroud could be available on Tuesday [against Reading]. Ramsey is progressing well, fitness wise he is 90% there. His potential return is not against Reading, maybe Sunderland [next Saturday]. We want him to be 100% fit before we bring him back.”

And the good thing about this year is that we don’t have to rush anyone back, knowing that there is enough depth of quality to replace like-for-like without losing our form.

If we can keep our injuries to a minimum once all these return, then Wenger will have an awesome set of players to choose from, and can afford to rest and rotate when some players are flagging, and still be close to full strength. We can even change our tactics now and again, which is nice for a change. And we have already seen Wenger make some sensible substitutions!

This really could be the perfect season for Arsenal!

  4. So far so good. I hope we will keep the momentum up in the remaining parts of the season. However, let is the usual Arsenal’s bad luck month” November”, where we had been facing difficulties for past years. There are some heavy weight matches scheduled in this month. Just to mention the matches against Spurs, Man united and PSG.
