This DOUBLE transfer spells TROUBLE for Wenger and Arsenal fans!

Everyone in the extended Arsenal family is looking forward to the January transfer window; some of us with eager anticipation and some with nervous trepidation. But we are all hoping that Arsene Wenger works his old magic in the transfer market and brings in a few key players that will help the Gunners finish the Premier League season strongly, enjoy an extended run in the Champions League, and retain the FA cup trophy we won last season.

And no matter how much Arsenal fans have got used to the Frenchman’s foibles in signing players and how much we appreciate and have become accustomed to Arsenal being easy on the eye and better in attack than defence, it is time for the boss to forgo his creative ideals for just one transfer window and sign players that will make us more solid and hard to beat.

Which is why I read with dismay the latest Arsenal transfer rumour reported by Metro. The paper claims that Wenger is planning a double swoop for the Roma striker Mattia Destro at around £15 million, and the Napoli attacking midfielder Marek Hamsik.

Both are good players but we simply do not need them. With Ozil about to return, Cazorla hitting top form and Rosicky, Chamberlain and Wilshere all able to fill the number 10 role, how many games would Hamsik get? The same is true of our front line, with Giroud, Alexis, Walcott, Podolski, Sanogo and Campbell all fighting for places.

This rumour may well be all hot air, but Arsenal continue to be linked with creative and forward players and if Wenger does sign someone like that, as he did with Ozil and Alexis, while ignoring the glaring weakness at the other end of the pitch, he is heading for a lot more trouble from the Arsenal fans!!

  1. forget about rumor, all we need is defensive players and AW will buy it for sure since we have hope to get through CL playoff.

  2. Wenger will sign a top cb this january that am sure of if he find one, and he will sign an unknown player also because Arsenal transfer won’t be complete without a raw wenger talent

        1. I remember you people crying when Wenger bought Koscielny.
2nd division French, WTF Wenger WTF ? remember that ?

  3. Arsenal could do with
    20 new players.
    Diaby Rosicky Flamini
are all likely to be off loaded this summer.
    Podolski Mertesacker Cazorla
are coming to the end of their time.
    Campbell Coquelin Ryo even Gnabry
    remain on the periphery.
Wilshere Ramsey Chamberlain Sanogo Ozil +
Walcott are becoming long term injury crocks.
    Koscielny’s achiles will require surgery
and may or may not make it back ,
Ospina has spent 4 months out already
while Gibbs gets injured every four games.
One or two additions seems to be
a few drops of water on a raging fire.

  4. People are saying we ONLY need defensive players
Aren’t goals important to you too?

Odds are high Wenger wants to get rid of Campbell and Podolski. Campbell is not an out and out striker, also Welbeck can play on wing, so not to concerned about Campbell.. I don’t want to lose Podolski but if he has to go Destro is a star in Italy. He is young and scores goals. He can push Giroud and Welbeck. He has time to turn into a 30 goal per season striker.

I WANT guys like Hummels, Schar etc and guys like Kondogbia, Bender, Carvalho, , Gustavo and I hope we strengthen our defense this January

Think about it United are above us with a worse defense. Why? Because they have Mata, Di Maria, Falcao, RVP and Rooney. Chelsea have Costa, Fabregas, Hazard, Remy, Drogba. City have Aguero, Dzeko, Nasri, Jovetic, lampard

We have Ozil, Sanchez and Walcott which is great. But our weakest area is strikers. Giroud and Welbeck are NOT Aguero, RVP or Costa.

Actually, I would prefer Cavani, Reus, Higuain or Huntelaar to Destro but we need to take what we can get.

Just please don’t underestimate the attacking side to football.

    1. i dont think Wenger is trying to get rid of Campbell. Podolski leaving seems a certainty though, but i think its going to be a summer transfer. either way we still have Walcott, AOC, Gnabry, Campbell, Alexis who can all play on wings. We have 3 strikers Giroud, Welbeck, Sanogo -_-, several attacking midfielders with Cazorla, Rosicky, Wilshere, Ozil, also AOC. These are more than enough players even with all our injuries. Maybe in the summer we should pick up another CAM because Rosicky might leave, but its nothing urgent. The problem is clearly at the back where we only have 2 CB’s and are using our fullbacks to fill in gaps. And our DM’s are both 30+ years old. Arsenal has always focused on attack more than defense so saying to not forget the attacking side of the game is silly, because we’ve always been an attacking team. But now its time to put some of our resources to our defense which has been ignored for a few seasons.

      1. Whilst I agree with most of that I don’t think we should necessarily be writing off CBs who happen to be “30+” – many of the world’s best have operated well in to their early/mid 30s. They are a bit like goalies where the general age rules are a bit different to all other positions on the field and experience tends to count for a lot. Chelseas CBs have 5 years on our guys and are by a distance the best around in the PL.

  5. We cannot let WENGER of the hook because we beat Newcastle, ARSENAL fans should be vigilant of his next moves, praising him by chanting his name, it’s just feeding his ego and we will pay for that, he will do what he does best, please the Board with cheap prospects and disregard our current needs…don’t trust this man, but if he proves me wrong I will be the first to admit it and officially declare myself an AKB…..the ball is in your court WENGER

    1. Do you ever read what you post? This post is a fantastic example of what really divides the AOBs and AKBs. Criticism of team, style, tactics, transfers, players etc is all fair play from either side. But while the AKBs (no such thing btw but I will stick to the accepted labelling for now) are generally grounded in the real world the AOBs have a capacity to veer toward astounding self-importance, grandiose pontification and astonishing delusional tendencies – I am sure psychiatrists will have a syndrome to describe this mental state. Rather than giving an opinion you tell us what we should do and how we should do it. You are offering your support to the club on a conditional basis ie: it does everything in accordance with your world view. The use of “we” and “our” is particularly objectionable. “I will be the first to admit it and officially declare myself an AKB…..the ball is in your court WENGER” – well bully for you mate and LMFAO.

  6. We all know CB & DM is a must for many years. Arsenal football club should be signing players like Hummels/Varane and Javi Martinez/ even Wanyama would be a great signing but were more likely to go for Shar/ Van Dijk type of player and develop them further. The defence is struggling that much I’d take the latter 2. Would be nice for Wenger to just go for it and prove everybody he’s still got what it takes !!

  7. We will not win the league while this chairman and board put profit before trophies.
They are not in the speculate to accumulate business.
problem is when eventually Wenger is replaced what transfer monies will the new man be given. That should be a laugh.

    1. look at the amount of money we’ve spent the past 2 summers. I dont think the board is being stingy with money anymore. A lot of our stadium is paid off and we are spending more. I dont think that can be argued. The problem with the board is their ambition, and giving Wenger too much freedom in the club. its a failure on the whole clubs part that we went into this season with only Per and Koscielny, expecting nothing bad would happen to them.

  8. What is the meaning of signing player if they are injured after playing several games. The first thing arsenal should fix is injury crisis. Arsenal have waste too much salary for injured player. It’s about 750k pounds per week. Holy shit !!!

    1. Yes and all gone quiet on the Shad Forsythe effect hasn’t it? Thought he was the magic man – appeared to have gone backward on the whole injury thing if you ask me. Think we need a fly on the wall at Chelsea to see what they do – apart from Costa’s known niggles they seem pretty immune to injuries atm.

  9. Who ever we get must not be cuptied and adapt like Alexis did not like Per.also he must be able to play at least 2position to get more game time. He must also be tall as we have the shortest squad players on average in the league,age- at most 26.

    Suggestions:
JAVI MARTINEZ 190cm CB/DM. Not cuptied as he has been injured since the start of the season although not injury-prone.

  10. RUMOURS! RUMOURS!! RUMOURS!!! Wenger signs who he wants to sign, when he wishes to and funny enough MOST tabloids are clueless to what he has up his sleeves as far as the january transfer window is concerned so I’d say pay no attention to the Metro and focus on Arsenal.com

    1. Yes and Metro is probably the worst – a ridiculous excuse for a “newspaper”. Not sure they have a single paid up journalist – they just cut and paste garbage from any media outlet they stumble across – I’ve seen plenty of their pieces using “Caughtoffside” as the source!!!!!!!! Absolute s*&*e.
