Time for Arsenal fans to give Wenger a break?

Every year when Arsenal go through a bad patch (like losing ONE out of the first TEN League games lol) the fans start calling for Wenger to be sacked, but surely he has had to cope with players returning from the World Cup, an unbelievable injury list, blending new players into the squad, and he has STILL managed to get us up into Fourth place already.

The Premiership is getting harder every year, but Le Prof has always managed to get us into contention for the title, although he may not have been able to complete the puzzle of competing with three of the richest clubs in Europe. Surely he deserves a little bit of praise?

Even though we are likely to register our fourth win in a row in midweek, the fans are still finding things to complain about Wenger. He has single-handedly made us into the fifth richest club in the World, and in nearly any other country Arsenal would be Champions on a regular basis, but with moneybags Chelsea and Man City buying all available stars to make themselves world-beaters, Arsene has competed very very well on a limited budget, and it was certainly a master-stroke to snap up Alexis Sanchez immediately the World Cup was over.

Now we have moved into Fourth and have got Theo Walcott back, plus Koscielny, Giroud and Debuchy and Mesut Ozil still to come, surely we can now gather momentum to get us up into second place at the very least by Christmas.

Don’t you all think it is time to stop knocking Wenger and start supporting the team in earnest?

I think you lot have to pipe down…Wilshere is here for the long Haul… And he will come good again….You better get used to him in the team…

He is having a bad season, same can be said for Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, The Ox etc……

re wenger: nobody’s saying everything he does is bad.
what we’re saying is that there are crucial & obvious things (CDM, CB) that need doing
that he does not do (i dont believe he cannot get someone in summer: pay more).

we can get #4 every year with some hard work : we’re a great club and thats our baseline now.
what we want to see is ambition to go higher,
and i and others believe we can do it, but

what frustrates me is that wenger seems to do a good bit (buying sanchez)
but thats just a bit below what he needs to do overall for the team
          (buy also CDM,CB)
to kick on from the #4 place.

Nobody criticises Ozil? This forum is dedicated to Ozil. His injury is a breather for us all on here.

Absolute nonsense. Just because somebody criticize Wilshere does not mean that person hates him. I personally believe that players should earn their place in the team and if they are not playing well then drop them and give another player a chance. Wilshere has played the whole of the season so far in his favourite position so ther should be no reason for him not performing. Can you say that about Ozil though? Has he been played in his favourite position at all times? Same thing goes for Carsola. Has he been played in the middle all season? Ozil and Casorla has not had the oppurtunity of being played in their favourite position for a run of matches this season so you really can’t compare their performances to Wilsherers’.
Also, it is not Flamini or Arteta’s fault if your manager decide not to buy a better defensive midfielder in the transfer window. They can only play to their best and if thath is not good enough them it is the managers job to get a better player. They don’t pick the team, Arsene does. The fact that he does not have a better player to replace them says a lot about his incompetence not the players.

Getting Sanchez for 30 million looks like a robbery from where i see it. If my-grandfather-look-alike Costa cost 30 million, Sanchez is definitely more. From now no talking of Sanchez. I really don’t want to jinx it.
10 goals and counting. And not even 30% of the season is done.

Such is the fickled nature of athletics and player acquisitions. Even the best-trained minds of any sport do not really know how a player will work out until it actually happens.

For example, some brilliant person at Arsenal actually believed Squillachi could play defense in the EPL.

He will, he openly admitted we should have got another CB and promise to rectify it in Jan.
He also admit that we need a player like Vieira, Petit. We still do not have the DM yet, because Wenger wants to sign the player he wants, not the player the fan want – DM is such important position nowadays (not just a shield in front of the back 4, but also link defence and attack) we cannot just sign anybody – average like Tiote, Wanyama won’t make us the world beater or genuine title challenger . After Sanchez and Ozil deal, we should at least give him benefit of doubt that our next star player will be a DM.

we still have little chance of winning the title. Okay, we beat Burnley, we still dont have good enough CB’s, and CDM’s to beat better teams. Wenger still makes silly decisions too often. Why is it every time we win a few games we all of a sudden get carried away AGAIN, just to find ourselves ending up 4th place again every season? When will people learn…

Hasn’t really done anything in this game except that one shot, just like against Chelsea. But of course, no one will mention that. When Özil doesn’t do something in a big game however, oh no…

No Way, it is a shame that we are this excited that Arsenal beat BURNLEYYY! come on now..seriously BURNLEY? We still need a proper cover for the defense and proper CB! no break for Wenger !

exactly. Standards and expectations have dropped so much. This article is ridiculous. Fans are mad at Wenger because this season is shaping up to be another trophyless, 4th place, R16 UCL exit season. And thats not good enough anymore. Some may say its too early to say things like that, but some also just know better and know that Wenger can only get this club so far now.

You know the bias I heard in today’s commentary? “Man Utd should be proud of loosing 1-0”.

Look dont get me wrong they played well at the end, BUT with so many referee decisions FOR them (penalties), they were lucky to lose only 1-0 and also not Fellani red carded too for so many fouls. If Arsenal were 10 man down and lost, just imagine what Drivel would have been said and written about us..

    I’d speak for myself.

I do support the team, I do support Wenger (I really do). But I’m never gonna shut my mouth and act like it’s all fine and ok when I can see with my eyes closed that something is wrong and that Wenger won’t admit it neither will he fix it, even though everyone in the world can see that something is wrong.

Wenger is our manager at the moment and it would really please us to see him do well, that’s why we will always wish and pray he does the right thing at all times, though we won’t fail to complain whenever he strays.

Smalling banned for our home game? We go next to Swansea and United host next Palace all on the 8th. CB and CDMs will not possible us until likely Jan window. It will be better to calm down on that issue. Let us focus on the boss efforts and those of our Gunners to keep theiranlowo winning momentum going without any recession. We should learn to give honour to who honour is due. Arsenal started through a rough path. But are now treading on a smoth road. Our prayers for them are, they will hit any bumps or run into any ditches on their way, starting from Tuesday 4th till Dec 28th when the will play in 11 tough games I suppose.

There is substantial data to confirm 1) Chelsea and Man City have invested five or six times as much as Arsenal over the last 8/9 years. 2) This has created a massively un-level playing field in which Chelsea and Man City have a huge advantage (less so Man U but still bigger than Arsenal). Include the cost of building the new stadium and it is evident that overr this period the Arsenal have punched above their weight 3) There is a stong correlation 90% between the size of the wage bill and success in terms of winning trophies (in 2011 Arsenal 5th) 4) Arsenal supporters expectations for their team and manager are far too high – the EPL is beyond their means at present. Everybody would be much happier if they got real about the context in which we compete and appreciate that coming 3rd or 4th is a good achievement for the Arsenal.

Where do we fall short compared to Chelsea and Man City?

    GK – Courtios > Hart = Szczesny
    RB – Zabaleta > Ivanovic = Debuchy
    LB – Luis/Azpilicueta > Clichy = Gibbs
CBs – Terry Cahill > Kompany Mangala > Mertesacker Koscielny
    DM – Matic > Fernandinho > Flamini
    CM – Toure >/= Ramsey > Oscar
    CAM – Silva = Özil = Fabregas
    RW – Walcott > Willian = Navas
    LW – Alexis = Hazard > Nasri
    ST – Aguero > Costa > Giroud

Greatest areas of concern – CBs, DM, Striker.

CBs: Koscielny is up there with the best, but I think Mertesacker has really dropped the ball this season, feel bad saying it but we need someone better.

DM: No secret, we need a new DM.

ST: Giroud and Welbeck aren’t the ‘World Class’ strikers that Costa and Aguero are, but I think having Walcott and Alexis on the wings makes up for it. Plus the hold up play by Welbeck/Giroud aids our wingers, it allows them to get forward quicker.

Give Wenger a break?…….. Funny!…… Two reasons he doesn’t deserve a break (1) he’s being paid millions (in the region of 7miL) … Wait , dat’s one helluva money (2) He’s had Lots of break in the past….name em…… Summer breaks, winter breaks, international breaks, plus all the time he’s spent on the bench, instead of on the touchline motivating players *chuckles* …… And what has he done with em all?? I rest my case!

I don’t know if we will win any major title under Mr Wenger anymore. He always leave the team short of one or two players the pass few years to compete for the BPL and CL championship. We’ve been crying for a world class DM but he still think Diaby will fill in…..We have only 2 CB for the season.(KOS is injured). Will still support ARSENAL FC no matter what…
