Top 4 looks safe but can Arsenal push on for top spot?

I know that a lot of Arsenal fans are sick of hearing about the remarkable record of Arsene Wenger getting the Gunners into the Champions League every season as we have never gone on to lift the European cup and in recent years have got no further than the first knockout stage and neither have we managed to finish on top of the Premier League.

Having said that I think we would rather finish in the top four again and you can ask the fans of clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United how they like it when they are not involved in the UCL competition or even the Europa League.

It is still early days and we are not even halfway through the season but a top four spot is already looking pretty safe for Arsenal. Even though we have just endured a typically tough month of November, Wenger and the players have managed to keep us in touch with the top of the table, just three points behind the leaders Chelsea, while we have seen the chasing pack struggle to stay with us, after Tottenham dropped four points behind in fifth and Man United are a massive eight points worse off than Arsenal in sixth.

This could help the players and the manager to relax a bit about what is behind us, but can we now press on and challenge the three teams above us? I think we can and this weekend could be a huge one for the title race as Man City and Liverpool travel to Bournemouth carrying a few key injury problems.

Arsenal do not have it easy with a trip to West Ham but Slaven Bilic and his players have struggled in their new stadium and I feel that the Gunners have got over the hump and will be performing better again from now on. With players due back out of the treatment room and the January transfer window still to come, how confident are you guys of a strong title challenge from Arsenal?

  1. Well… i say we should just take it one step/game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves yet, all we have to do is focus on our own games and other clubs, we need to keep winning matches and at our tough away matches where we can’t win or play very well like the Man Utd game, i say we take a point and we will see what happens at the end of the season, COYG

  2. I wouldn’t say 4th place is sure quite yet. If the logo is that Arsenal can finish top spot an injury ridden Spurs should by the same logic he capable of finishing 4th and if you look at it this is exactly how Spurs staffree last season and only fell off in the title race after they collapsed at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal should just focus on themselves and keep winning as while I’m pleased with us getting 3 points over the weekend we have yet to put in a strong performance of late and we are playing these matchest at home. It will be a more difficult thing travelling to these venues away when the pressure is on.
