Top Gunner lifts lid on Arsenal transfer plans

I must admit that I feel sorry for the Arsenal and Colombia international keeper, even though David Ospina did drop a clanger so big that is sent shockwaves around the world of football. That horror moment against Olympiacos in the Champions League could not have come at a worse moment either as we had just got back into the game and had regained the momentum.

So if, as seems likely, Arsenal do fail to make it to the UCL knockout stage for the first time in donkeys years everyone will remember that moment and blame Ospina. As Arsene Wenger said at the time though, any player can make a mistake and that was just about the first the Colombian had made for Arsenal after a superb second half of last season.

But it does look like his goose is cooked as they say because it is not just the Arsenal fans that have turned on Ospina, but the players as well. Or that is the sense I get from the words of Per Mertesacker reported by The Mirror.

The big German defender revealed that he was looking forward to getting our on loan Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny back in the squad when his spell at Italy’s Serie A club Roma is finished at the end of this season and he said it is not just him but everyone at the club that wants Shezzer back.

So is that it for unlucky Ospina?

  1. David Ospina was awesome for us last season and hardly put a foot wrong. One mistake this year and he is being demonized!
How many mistakes did Szczesny make every year?
    Keep Ospina I say

    1. It’s not the mistake he’s demonized for, it’s for making the mistake at the WRONG time which GKs can never afford to do

        1. Yes it did come at the right time because it was the first game of the season and we had plenty of time to make up for it as shown by our league position at the moment. Imagine cech doing a mistake like ospina did against bayern or liverpool where he saved us with his sheer quality. Ospina is brilliant no doubt abt that but that mistake was incredibly silly. He could have punch the ball any direction away from goal but he made a bad decision trying to bounce and catch it. Again im not taking away anything from ospina bt that one decision is silly as silly gets.

          1. At the end of the day ospina is a good shot stopper but never commanded his box Cech has been a different class some of the saves he’s made would normally be goals against us. What a ***NO SWEARING*** signing he iz. Give us a few more in January and we might win the league. COYG.

      1. What you saying is a player has the ability to choose when and when not to make a mistake? I never read a “dumber” comment.

  2. Little shout out to mesut ozil who’s been playing out his skin this year ?? took him a while but glad he’s finally doing the business. Hopefully we can get over the finish line come may would be nice for le prof to finish on a high. Couple of signings and were there. Heart goes out to families in Paris. No surrender we will fight on against the wrong ones.

  3. “A neighbour nearby is better than brother far away” -The Bible (Proverbs).
Ospina is here now, Szchezney had his chance. Ospina made a mistake in a Champs Lge match, Szeschney did also same day for Roma. If they want Szeschney back, it must have been cos of d Humor he brings into d dressing room. He’s a funny guy.
But Szeschney is NOT better than Ospina. Don’t dwell on people’s mistakes pls, give them another chance!!!
