This is a massive game for Arsenal on Saturday as we take on our greatest rivals Tottenham in the North London derby at Wembley. Spurs are just 4 points above us in the table, and with Chelsea currently in meltdown mode this is a real chance for the Gunners to get right back in the race for the Top Four. Last season was the first time that Tottenham have finished above us in the League table since Wenger became our manager 21 years ago, and they were also in front of us when we played them at the Emirates earlier this season and everyone was predicting an Arsenal defeat.
But we destroyed them in the first half with goals from Mustafi and Alexis before half time and the Spuds had no answer to get them back into the game, and our superiority was very easy to see. So we meet again, and although Arsenal have had an abysmal away record this season there are many reasons why I think that I want to take the Tottenham v Arsenal best odds from 888Sport, which currently have Tottenham priced at Even Money favourites while Arsenal are at incredibly massive 5/2 to beat our rivals.
The reason that I think we should be backing our side to win are as follows; First of all we have a completely better side than the one that won at the Emirates earlier in the season, with both Henrikh Mhkitaryan and Aubameyang hitting the ground running on Saturday in our confidence-boosting 5-1 win over Everton. If the Spurs players are forced to watch that game beforehand they will know that they are up against a formidable strike force which is taylor-made to give any team in the world big problems.
Secondly, Arsenal’s defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup could work in our favour as we are now out of the Cup we won last year, whereas the Spuds have to play Newport tonight (Wednesday) in an FA Cup replay, while our players can have a whole week to recuperate (and celebrate) after the destruction of Everton on Saturday.
If you add to that the fact that Arsenal haven’t lost in any of their last 10 visits to Wembley, and the obvious inferiority complex that Tottenham have when it comes to playing Arsenal, and also that the Spuds have to play a massive Champions League game against Juventus just three days later, then it seems ridiculous that Arsenal are such a large price to win this game.
Get on it!
