Tottenham v Arsenal Early Betting Preview – Gunners are great odds to beat the Spuds

This is a massive game for Arsenal on Saturday as we take on our greatest rivals Tottenham in the North London derby at Wembley. Spurs are just 4 points above us in the table, and with Chelsea currently in meltdown mode this is a real chance for the Gunners to get right back in the race for the Top Four. Last season was the first time that Tottenham have finished above us in the League table since Wenger became our manager 21 years ago, and they were also in front of us when we played them at the Emirates earlier this season and everyone was predicting an Arsenal defeat.

But we destroyed them in the first half with goals from Mustafi and Alexis before half time and the Spuds had no answer to get them back into the game, and our superiority was very easy to see. So we meet again, and although Arsenal have had an abysmal away record this season there are many reasons why I think that I want to take the Tottenham v Arsenal best odds from 888Sport, which currently have Tottenham priced at Even Money favourites while Arsenal are at incredibly massive 5/2 to beat our rivals.

The reason that I think we should be backing our side to win are as follows; First of all we have a completely better side than the one that won at the Emirates earlier in the season, with both Henrikh Mhkitaryan and Aubameyang hitting the ground running on Saturday in our confidence-boosting 5-1 win over Everton. If the Spurs players are forced to watch that game beforehand they will know that they are up against a formidable strike force which is taylor-made to give any team in the world big problems.

Secondly, Arsenal’s defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup could work in our favour as we are now out of the Cup we won last year, whereas the Spuds have to play Newport tonight (Wednesday) in an FA Cup replay, while our players can have a whole week to recuperate (and celebrate) after the destruction of Everton on Saturday.

If you add to that the fact that Arsenal haven’t lost in any of their last 10 visits to Wembley, and the obvious inferiority complex that Tottenham have when it comes to playing Arsenal, and also that the Spuds have to play a massive Champions League game against Juventus just three days later, then it seems ridiculous that Arsenal are such a large price to win this game.

Get on it!

We should be confident. This game will be an opportunity for the team to get ourselves back in the Top4 mix and a win would give everyone a massive boost.Just as important it will give us a kick start for the final1/3,of the season when we invariably string together a run of results.
Those spuds need to be reminded of there place and players should need no motivation for this game.Honestly can’t see us not winning this game-but this is Arsenal we are talking about.

The only thing we should be confident is winning Europa League, ’cause it’s our only way to a CL spot

Maybe Wenger would set a 3-4-2-1 to play defensive counter attack:

    ………………….Cech
    …..Koscielny . Mustafi . Monreal
    Bellerin . Ramsey . Xhaka . Kolasinac
    ………….Ozil … Mkhitaryan
    …………….Aubameyang

    Subs:
Ospina, Chambers, Lacazette, Maitland-Niles, Iwobi, Welbeck, Wilshere

Wenger’s 4-2-3-1 is good for attacking, but not for defending. Arsenal have been using it for several years and it usually leaves only two defenders in the back, very vulnerable to quick counter-attacks

    5/2 odds huh?
I am tempted to bet £20 on Arsenal then
I would get £70 back if i win
    Something to think about.
What am i crazy? With our defense. LOL Maybe not.

Why do I feel like Wenger will go back to being a genius and won’t start one of Aubameyang and Mhikitaryan ??

    “taylor-made”

With Anthony Taylor refereeing, let’s actually hope the game doesn’t end up Taylor-made.

YEP We need to play 4 at the back. We don’t have 3 Top Centre backs to make it work
But i think we should play both Monreal and Kolsanic. Play Monreal at LB and Kolsanic instead of Xhaka.

    Like:

    ………….Ospina
    Bell…Kosc…Mustf…Monreal
    Wilshere……Kolsanic
    ……Mkhitaryan…..Ozil….
    Lacazette …..Aubameyang

From what I have seen 3 at the back leads to a disjointed attacking performance which inturn invites pressure onto the defenders and our defenders are not good enough to withstand that pressure.

Honestly it’s better to go out entertaining in a back than it is to watch the repetitive boredom created by the way the back 3 system plays out

Who else noticed that mhiki and Auba.. Misused 3 from their respective jersey numbers at BVB in Arsenal.. I know it’s not relevant to the post but I just had to point that out.

      1. Roehahn

He is saying that Mkhi and Auba jersey nos. were 10 and 17 at Dortmund and now are 7 and 14 at Arsenal. Diff of 3 for both.
