Triple injury boost perfect timing for Arsenal trip to Chelsea

There is some bad news for Arsenal on the injury front, as the England international forward Theo Walcott is still not ready to come back into the team after picking up what was supposed to be just a minor calf problem in the Boxing Day win over West Brom.

According to the sports injury website physioroom.com the date set for his turn to first team action is January 31st, but I am not holding my breath and as the manager is likely to use caution in bringing him back that would not see Theo fully fit and ready for the trip to face Chelsea on February 4th.

However, three Gunners that should be not only fit but match sharp for that potentially pivotal Premier League away game are Francis Coquelin, Hector Bellerin and Kieran Gibbs. The first two of this trio are nailed on starters for a big game like this and going on recent form I would put Gibbs in the side ahead of Monreal as well.

Before that clash with Chelsea Arsenal have two very winnable EPL games at home to Burnley and Watford with the FA cup fourth round in between and these games should give more than enough time for Coquelin, Gibbs and Bellerin to get fully up to speed.

Will this help Arsenal get the result that our title hopes need?

  1. I won’t hold my breath on us NOT getting anymore injuries before we play Chelsea. Any news on Giroud? Didn’t he go off injured Saturday?

If and it’s a big IF we go into the Chelsea match with only Santi and theo missing then we could have 20 of our strongest 22 available.

    Cech ospina
    mustafi, koscielny Mertesacker Gabriel
    Bellerin Monreal gibbs
    Coquelin xhaka ramsey elneny
    Perez, iwobi, chamberlain, ozil, alexis
    Giroud, welbeck

Nothing against the likes of martinez, maitland-niles, holding, Adelaide and akpom. But they are just a bit less inexperienced, great cover for the bench, but even wenger hardly dips into that pool unless he is forced too.

Debuchy and Sanogo should move, along with jenkinson. That would allow mertesacker, welbeck and a new signing to be added to the champions league squad.

    1. According to physioroom Walcott might be back in time too. (31st January, match is on 4th or 5th)

      This is Arsenal, though.

  2. Its Chelsea who is the only big team i can see us beating. But in the end of the day it wont make a diff.

Playing for the 4th place trophy is already embarrasing enough.

      1. Every season same saying, it ain’t over until it’s mathematically over.. can’t you see that for Arsenal that saying don’t work??? 4th is Wenger’s favorite number.. enjoy the ride
