Two Arsenal stars in direct battle for Copa America final

Not only are there two players from the current Arsenal side on opposing sides in the Copa America semi-final between Colombia and Chile at the Soldier Field stadium in Illinois, but because of their respective playing positions we will see the Colombian number one David Ospina in direct competition with his Arsenal team mate Alexis Sanchez.

It will definitely be interesting to see which of the two Gunners gets the better of the other in this crucial match and even though, from an Arsenal perspective, we want to see arguably our best attacking star do well I cannot help but root for Ospina and Colombia. It makes no difference as to how much rest either will get as there is a third place play-off.

But Chile did win it last time after all so maybe they should give someone else a chance and there is always the fear that Chile winning it again would have the same sort of effect on the Arsenal forward. Arsene Wenger certainly thought that Alexis was not the same influential player after last summer’s Copa America heroics.

Plus I have a huge amount of time for the keeper even after the nightmare he had last season against Olympiacos nearly cost us our Champions League progression. Even if he is to leave Arsenal this summer as some reports claim, I reckon he has done well for us and will wish him well.

One thing is for sure, one of the two Arsenal men will be a very happy man tonight. Will it be Ospina or Alexis Sanchez?

  1. Let it be.

And then sign the Hungarian maestro Mr. Kleinheisler for peanuts to actually give us some fighting spirit.

    Cheers!
