Two midfielders to go as Arsenal start January clearout

Arsenal have been known to make a few purchases in the winter transfer window in the past, but this January the Gunners are unlikely to make any first team purchases, but it is an opportunity to get rid of some peripheral players that are extremely unlikely to make the Arsenal first team.

The first one is a no-brainer, as Gideon Zelalem is out of contract this coming summer and has not had a sniff of becoming a first-team regular. He is only 19 though and may have great hopes of becoming a top star in the future, but as he has not signed a contract extension this year then Arsenal have no choice but to try and recoup some of their investment by selling him right now, with Borussia Dortmund set to be the lucky recipients.

The second is the Spanish youngster Jon Toral, who arrived from Barcelona’s La Massia academy at the same time as Hector Bellerin. Toral had a good season last year in the Championship with Birmingham, but he was allowed to return to Spain with Granada this season, but he hasn’t been able to force himself into a regular first team spot at the La Liga minnows.

Wenger said that “we work on it to see if it is possible, yes.”

“He has played games there [for Granada] but at the moment he doesn’t play and personally I think it would be a good transition for him.”

Maybe he can try and put himself in the shop window playing in the Scottish First Division with Rangers, but realistically as he has got to 21 years old without making a first team appearance for Arsenal, we can expect ton see him leaving this summer.

I am seriously hoping that this is just the start of our outgoing transfer business, and the next ones I want to see leave are Mathieu Debuchy and Yaya Sanogo. Who else do you think should be going out on loan or sold off in the next few weeks?

  1. Debuchy, Sanogo, Akpom, Campbell, Szczesny, Jenkinson. Debuchy and Campbell must go because they don’t want to play second fiddle, let them play every week somewhere else. The others are just not good enough so we should free up some good space and money with all six sold.

Oxlade and Ramsey will be on other lists. After the above six well then we can start thinking about players higher up. It will range all the way from Oxlade Ramsey up to Ozil I’d imagine.

    1. Whatever reasons you give for them to leave, I simply say that are just not good enough for Arsenal. Except Campbell who is as good as Iwobi in my opinion.

  2. I would be really sad and surprised to see Zelalem go. He is such an exciting talent and showed it at international level. Hope we get a proper buy back clause.
