VIDEO EXTRA – Reiss Nelson proves again he should be in Arsenal first team….

Ever since Reiss Nelson came on for a cameo performance in Arsenal’s first pre-season game in Sydney, he has been looking more and more impressive and confident with every passing appearance. Last night found the Gunners U23 side 2-1 down to Derby County when the attacking midfielder showed another flash of brilliance to put Arsenal back in game.

And who could forget this unbelievable goal in the open training session before the Community Shield. Yet another gem from the 17 year-old. I just love his close control in the box, and the way he switched feet to dink it past the keeper was a touch of class. I wonder if he does this all the time in training?

Yes he is young, but you cannot deny that he is looking like an amazing talent already. The Londoner has never played in an official game for Arsenal yet but he obviously has no problem playing with the much older and bigger professionals. There is no doubt that he needs building up his muscles and upper body strength with legal steroid-based muscle-builders like Valkyrie Trenbolone Enanthate 200 before playing in the Premier League on a regular basis.

We all know that Arsene Wenger regrets playing Jack Wilshere for a whole season when he was too young to handle it, and we also know how badly that worked out. So I expect Le Prof to be gentle with Nelson’s introduction to the big League, but do you think he should be getting more games in the first team this season? Perhaps in the Europa League?

  1. He’s behind Bellerin atm and I think Bellerin should be behind oxlade and if wenger played oxlade at rwb he might sign a new contract coz Bellerin is already tied down so no need to keep him happy if he’s not performing! Kolansinac n oxlade as wing backs is beastly if only we had another CM we could be prettying strong! Nelson will get his chance in europa him and iwobi are quality players just need Adelaide to get fit and fight for his right to play along with holding we have good youngsters! Maybe Wenger should go all out and get sancho coz they could all play europa and that’s high level experience for them!

  2. Nelson is a talented player. Looking forward in seeing him start some games esp Capital one cup, FaCup and some league games. Having said that, let’s not over hype him or throw Him in the first team without handling him properly. He is definitely skillful and exciting to watch. We have a super star here in Nelson but one step at a time..

    1. I agree on the point of not over-hyping him but I will also want to point out that the age talented players hit the limelight these days have gone down considerably. 18-year old Mbappe for about 200m, 20 year old Ousmane Dembele for 100m, Marcus Rashford at 19 will command similar fees, Trent Alexander-Anorld was a class act for Liverpool tonight, a man of the match performance at such a big stage and he’s only 19 too, Thomas Lemar at 21, Asensio and the list goes on. We shouldn’t be scared at all to give him the chance he deserve, If we give him, we will thank our stars we didn’t stump up any insane amount for Mbappe in a year’s time. For me, Nelson is making a banging knock on the first team door and Wenger should respond. Where I hope Wenger won’t be ‘Wenger’ will be to start playing him at Wing back, HE IS A DAMN GOOD ATTACKING MIDFIELDER AND HE IS NOT VERSATILE ( in Yesterdays’ game he scored 2 great goes the moment he moved to the AM position from the WB position – that tells you where home is for this talented young man) He will fit well across the front 3, end of story. Joe Willock and Donyel Malen are coming right behind him to stake a claim in the first team in my opinion. If Oxlade Chamberlain leaves I will back Ainsley Maitland-Niles as back up to Hector Bellerin as well as not sell Calum Chambers. If Alexis has to leave I will swap straight with Julian Draxler if he goes to PSG and Leroy Sane if he goes to City. Finally, we need to loan out Jeff Adelaide and Geidom Zelalem to a premier league or championship teams or a top division team in Germany or Spain as they are attack minded midfielders to see if they will indeed fulfill that potential. The same goes for Bramal, but if we eventually sell Gibbs and are not bringing in any new CB or Wingback, we might want to keep him around as Monreal will be busy with CB duties this season. The future is excitedly bright for Arsenal, if we handle these array of stars in the making right.

      1. Tottenham just had a 25m Pounds bid rejected for Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham! That buttresses my point.

  3. One wonder goal!!! It takes more than that to make an arsenal player he’s got potential I grant you that, easy people let’s just nurture the kid into what we can all be proud of, those biggin him up will be quick to knock him if he has a bad game like holding last Friday

  4. Tons of potential, but lets wait and see about consistency. If he shows consistant quality then first team opportunities will follow I’m sure. Age means nothing; if you’re good enough you should play.
Definitely one to keep an eye on for sure. Who does he replace though? Walcott? Ox? Debuchy?

For f sake though, don’t move him all over the pitch in different roles and responsibilities. Don’t shoehorn him into lineup; what’s his best position and let him and whomever fight it out.

  5. Sell Walcott and use Reiss Nelson, Walcott is on high wages and only has 2 years left. He is turning 29 next year and we can get good money for him from this transfer, we also have enough to meet the English quota. When we are 2 or 3 goals up put Nelson in to get game time and experience, slowly easing he into the first team so that he can play with better players as well as having more responsibility.

  6. I’m loving the way he plays, and they reckon Sancho is better than Nelson, I hope we get him too.

The futures bright. the futures red and white.
